Chapter Three

It was finally the weekend and I could not wait for the final bell to ring signaling the end of the school week. I had spent most of the week trying not to vomit every time I turned a corner. Why you may ask? Because since Tuesday morning, I couldn't look anywhere without seeing Jayden Breeze making out with some slut in the hallway. Apparently he hadn't taken getting shut down too well and had to make himself feel better by drowning himself in ten different girl's mouths.

Obviously, this guy had never heard of public decency. Or being discreet considering I caught him staring at me while he practically got it on with one of his many bimbo's. Had me ignoring him in History class on his first day made him feel a little insecure? I would say so.

For somebody so good looking, Jayden was making himself look terrible. In a matter of one week he had created himself the reputation of a player, just like I predicted from the moment I laid eyes on him. He asked out at least three girls a day and sadly they would all say yes. I never understood why a girl would want to go out with a guy like that. Everyone knew that he was seeing several girls at once, who would want to give him the time of day? Not me. I was just glad that Jayden wasn't bothering me... mostly.

During gym the guy class and girl class were both outside, just as I was about to score a goal in our soccer game a football came soaring over and missed the back of my head by an inch. When I looked over, I saw shirtless Jayden trying not to laugh and requesting I throw the ball back to him. Instead of throwing it back to him, I walked over to him in my skimpy gym outfit, short shorts and a t-shirt that almost showed my naval, and handed him the ball. I smiled sweetly at him, placed a hand on his bare chest and sighed as I drew small circles on his muscled pecks.

"Jayden, you didn't have to screw up my goal just because you can't score with me." I shoved the football in his hands and patted his cheek gently before walking away. Every single girl in my gym class was staring at me when I casually took my place back on the soccer field. I couldn't stop smiling.

I had no idea where my confidence boost had come from, but I'll tell you this, it felt amazing to stick it to Jayden. When I relayed my golden moment to Amanda and Cali they both roared with laughter. Even they could tell that Jayden was trying to make me jealous by flaunting other girls when I was around. But I wasn't at all. Sure when I saw him kissing other girls it made my stomach turn, but that was because it disgusted me.

I jumped a bit as the final bell rang apparently I had too lost in thought to realize how fast time had gone by. Finally, Friday. I had been looking forward to tonight ever since Monday. The reason being it was Amanda's birthday! We had plans to have a girls' night but Cali, my brother James and I had thrown together a small birthday party at our house for her. There wasn't going to be that many people because our house isn't massive or anything and we have a lot of breakable, irreplaceable shit lying around. Just a few friends and a lot of alcohol.

Our plan to keep the party a surprise was simple enough. We were getting ready at Amanda's house so we could take her out for a nice birthday dinner. Truthfully, we were getting ready for the party at Amanda's house, James would shoot me a text message when everyone was at our house so that we would know it was time to go over there. I would 'forget my wallet' so we would have to stop at my house. And then SURPRISE! The plan was brilliant and fool proof.

When I reached my locker Amanda was gushing to Cali about the car her dad had gotten her; it was all we had heard about all day long. I already knew the description of it off by heart because she used the same speech to every person she told about it.

"Please don't tell me you forgot to tell her about the rain sensing wipers!" I said dramatically as I reached my two best friends. Cali and I laughed together but Amanda crossed her arms and stuck her nose in the air. "Come on, Amanda I'm just kidding. You know we are both happy for you."

"Jealous, is more like it." she said haughtily. I rolled my eyes before following them both out of the school. "So where are we going for dinner tonight?" Amanda asked excitedly, already forgetting that she was supposed to be mad at me for making fun of her.

"I was thinking Olive Garden? Their bread sticks are to die for, and I'm craving some fettuccine Alfredo." My stomach growled loudly, and I made a mental note to scold Cali for making me crave my favorite pasta.

"Olive Garden sound's great to me! I love birthdays!" Amanda exclaimed as we climbed into her brand new Ford Explorer.

"Correction, you love your birthday." I said as I wrestled Cali out of the way for the front seat. Usually she would have driven herself to school but Amanda insisted that she picked us both up that morning.

"I have never seen such a good-looking pair of young ladies." Amanda's older brother's friend teased us. He was a good-looking guy, but the way he was checking us out was thoroughly creepy.

"Matt get your creepy friend out of here!" Amanda called to her brother. It didn't matter if the guy left us alone or not because Matt and him were meeting us at the party later on, but Amanda didn't know that. No matter how weirded out I was by the guy, I think his name is Josh, I had to agree with him, we all looked fantastic.

Amanda had on a cute new dress Gucci dress that Cali and I had pitched on as her birthday present. It was a strapless blue and white floral silk dress. There was a tie around the middle that emphasized her small waistline and for the price it cost to buy it, the way it looked on her was worth every penny. Her bright red hair was curled just like it had been for Jason's party the week before. She had white eye shadow that popped out against the dark black eye liner that encased her sapphire eyes.

I was surprised to see that Cali was wearing the shortest dress out of all of us. It was bright blue with spaghetty straps and a beaded butterfly on the front. On the waist the material is gathered together giving it a ruffled look. It came down just far enough to cover her ass. Her long blonde hair was pin straight with her bangs pulled up in a puff at the top of her head. For the first time in a long time she only had mascara on but she looked really good that way.

My dress was nothing special, just a cute one shoulder black dress. It was fitted around my whole body and Amanda said it made my butt look huge so I was all for that. My always straight brown hair with blonde streaks was now bright blonde and curled. I had no idea what possessed me to die my hair but as Amanda was getting her color touched up at the salon, the idea just popped into my head and I went for it. I like my new look a lot, but to my disappointment I wondered what Jayden would think of it when he saw it on Monday morning.

"Delanie! Are you listening to me! Your phone is vibrating non-freaking-stop!" Amanda yelled at me before tossing the phone at me. I quickly flipped it open and read the text message from James.

'The party is bumpin, were ready for the birthday girl.'

I flashed a thumbs up at Cali and we started ushering Amanda out the door. A part of me wished we really were going out for dinner because I was starving. We hadn't eaten since lunch to make it seem like we were saving our appetites for the Olive Garden; I hoped James remembered to pick up something to throw on the BBQ for our guests.

We all piled into the car after saying goodbye to Matt and Josh, they knew to leave right after us anyway, so it wasn't much of a goodbye. Just as we were about to pass the turn to my house, I yelled "LEFT! GO LEFT!"

Amanda swerved left at the last moment and turned to glare at me. "Sorry, I just realized I forgot my wallet." She said something under her breath that sounded like 'I better get an extra breadstick for this.' Just as we turned the last corner I prayed that James had remembered to tell everyone to park in the back or down the street. Thankfully, our driveway wasn't littered with cars, that would just ruin the surprise.

"Do you want us to wait here or go in with you?" Cali asked me. We had already arranged this part; we needed to get Amanda in the house secretly.

"Might as well come in and help me look for my wallet." Before hopping out of the car I leaned over and honked the horn loudly, getting yet another glare from Amanda. "Sorry, I was just wondering if new cars still have the same sounding horn." In reality, I was just warning James that we were about to walk inside the house.

"Actually," Amanda said sounding excited. "I had the choice of getting a customized horn, but I thought it would be too..."

"SURPRISE!" everyone yelled as I swung the front door open. I beamed back at Amanda, who looked completely shocked. There was a lot more people standing there than I expected and one face stood out to me in particular. All I could think was 'what the fuck is Jayden Breeze doing in my house?!'

I held my cool and ignored the guy completely. Whoever invited him into my home would end up regretting it. Honestly, Jayden hadn't spoken to Amanda once, and he was at her birthday party? So much for it just being a few friends, James must have invited more people than we had discussed. I would have to give him shit for that later.

The look on her face when she saw me was priceless! That look was all I needed to confirm my suspicions. Delanie Swift wants me; she is just trying to resist me. Why in the hell would she want to do that? I mean look at me I am irresistible!

Maybe when she gets drunk, she will be a little more willing. I want to get to know her; I want to break her down. There is no way I won't be able to make her mine; I always get every girl I want and I want Delanie. Why? Well, because she is trying to make it seem like she couldn't care less about me. Nothing is more satisfying than winning a girl over. That's something that isn't so hard for me because I'm so good looking. It's nice to finally have a challenge.

"Jay, are you even paying attention to what I'm saying!" an annoying voice whined from beside me. This girl Stacy was becoming too clingy. I mean I already got what I wanted from her why is she still hanging around me? Oh yeah, so I can make Delanie jealous... I should have picked a different girl, this bitch is annoying.

"Yeah, of course babe." I lied, in reality I hadn't listened to a fucking word this girl has been saying for the past week.

The party was going great and I couldn't have been happier with the turnout. With one small exception, of course. I still did not understand why the fuck Jayden Breeze was in my house! Using my shot glasses! Leaning on my kitchen counter! Helping my brother start up the grill! Going into my fridge to get things like ketchup, mustard, and onions! Oh, how helpful he must appear to James, what a fake act.

I pounded back shots of vodka and bottles of beer, as long as I was ignoring the fact that Jayden was in my house I could have a good time. Several guys from school including Jason were talking with me, Cali, and Amanda and I was soaking up every minute, hoping I was making Jayden jealous. Wait... why would I want to do that? I must have been too drunk and not thinking right. Shove those thoughts deep down inside and never let them come up again.

"Delanie!" I heard James yell from outside. I hurried out the back door onto the deck to see what the problem was, his voice had sounded slightly panicked.

"What's up?" I asked my brother, Jayden was standing next to him. He was wearing a tight black t-shirt with silver designs all over it, his black hair perfectly styled and even in the dark of night his emerald green eyes stood out brightly.

"Have you met Jayden, he is Jason's cousin." Why the fuck was my little brother trying to introduce me to Jayden? Did he put him up to this?

"I guess not officially." I said as politely as I could. Which between you and me wasn't very polite at all. "We have had a few... run-ins. I'm Delanie." he took my extended hand and shook it.

"Jayden Breeze." He put a lot of emphasis on his last name, as if he wanted to impress me.

"Great. Now what did you want James?" I turned to my brother and frowned at him for wasting my time.

"Uh... I forgot." I walked away rolling my eyes, the action kind of made me dizzy. Maybe I should lay off the shots for a bit. No, actually I think I may have a couple more.

I made my way through the semi-crowded kitchen until I found my two best friends right where I had left them. Jason was laughing and talking with Cali while Amanda chatted up some guy that I didn't even know. God only knows why people come to birthday parties when they don't even know the birthday girl.

Instead of trying to join in on either conversation, I bee lined for the fridge and grabbed a Corona from the bottom shelf. I had never seen so much alcohol in my fridge before. I wondered how we had managed to get so much. James definitely hadn't paid for all of it; he didn't even have a job. I hoped he didn't use the emergency credit card; our parents would flip! Pushing my worries aside, I grabbed a bottle of vodka, a Coke, and a shot glass and wandered down into the entertainment room.

A couple of guys were playing a Xbox game while Lisa Monroe and Bridget Paste, two girls from my gym class, sat on the floor watching and drinking beers. Both the girls were bleach blonde with blue eyes, how typical? I didn't mind them too much; They were the only girls in my gym class that I didn't hate, actually. So I sat down with them and started a conversation. Before long we were laughing, taking turns taking shots and picking on the boys that were playing the video games.

I only knew two of the three guys and they were both extremely attractive. One of them was Josh Striker, and the second was Liam Carlo. As I had for the past year and a half, I pretended that Liam wasn't in the room. To say that I didn't like Liam was an understatement, I hated him. But seeing as he is Amanda's cousin-in-law I didn't really have the option to kick him out. Well I did, I just didn't feel like being overly mean today, maybe because I was saving it all for Jayden? I don't know.

Liam was one of Selesity High's jocks. He played quarterback on the football team and, as you might have guessed, is a huge player. Liam is actually the reason I am so against even socializing with a player. Long story short, the hot blonde headed asshole cheated on me when we were in our first year of high school. We dated for about five months and for four of those five months he wasn't faithful. I guess I knew it all along,, but I was just so happy to be with somebody as attractive as Liam. His blonde hair and blue eyes had disarmed me from the moment I met him. I had a crush on him since I was only eight years old, as we got older I guess he grew to like me too. Unfortunately, I wasn't the only girl he liked, so things never ended well with him. I always avoid him now.

As for Josh Striker, he was adorable. He had dark brown hair and hazel eyes. His skin was tanned, and he had the sweetest smile. He played basketball but wasn't nearly as big-headed as Liam or Jayden for that matter. During basketball games I always kept my eye on him, not only because he is smoking hot, but because he is talented too. Josh and I had never really been friends, but this year he was in my Home Ec cooking group so we had talked a few times. He was nice and didn't know how to cook at all, but that made the class even more fun.

"Josh, take a shot!" I called over to him as he watched Liam and the mystery boy play Call of Duty.

"I can drink." he said, making his way over to us and plopping down beside me on the carpet. I poured him a shot and handed him some chaser, which he waved away. Curious, I never would have pegged him as the hard alcohol kind of type, yet he took the shot like it was water. "What?" he said nervously when he noticed I was staring at him.

"Nothing." I said smiling at him, he returned the smile and I immediately melted. This guy was cute and not a player. Just my type.

"Where's Delanie?" I asked her friend, finally fed up of looking around for her. When I first tried to talk to her, she clearly wasn't drunk enough, now she was nowhere to be found. What if she took off and was hooking up with some other guy? Fuck, that would be so lame.

"I don't know." her friend replied, looking at my through drunken eyes. "Why are you looking for her, you guys aren't even friends?"

I didn't know what this girl's name was, Ally or something like that, either way she was pretty drunk. Maybe I could make Delanie jealous by hooking up with her friend, if only she was around to see it. The girl grabbed Amanda by the arm. I only knew her name because it was her birthday after all, and brought her over to me.

"He is looking for Delanie." Ally said.

"Dude, I totally called it, didn't I. The little bitch lied to us!" Amanda said sounding triumphant.

"What are you talking about?" I asked her impatiently.

"I knew she wanted your attention, she told us you guys don't even talk. Cali where is she, I want to tell her I know she was lying!" Oh shit, I guess that's her name, my bad.

"Wait a second, she told you she wasn't interested in me?"

"More like disgusted in you. Player isn't her type." Cali said, her words slurred together, and she stumbled almost falling, but my cousin caught her just before she hit the floor.

"Where's your leach?" Jason asked me as he slung an arm around Cali to help her stand. I assumed he was referring to Stacy.

"Passed out drunk on the deck."

"Just to let you know, I think I saw her going down to the entertainment room." Cali tried to hold her head up as she talked to me but failed horribly. "Hey!" she called after me. "Tell her we know she was lying!" she said in a singsong voice then began laughing hysterically with Amanda. Man, some girls just don't know their limits with alcohol.

As soon as I descended into the basement, I wished I hadn't. At first I just heard a lot of laughter, then when I turned the corner I saw Delanie making out hard core with some guy from the basketball team, a half empty vodka bottle clutched in the hand that wasn't caught up in the guy's hair.
