Chapter 12: Let's Make a Date!

I was in Sherlock's room and I was standing by his face. There was something in my hand. The next thing I saw was me sitting on his floor. I was the size of a human. I was naked. I then saw myself, this time with clothes on, in his kitchen. He was by the stove making food. I was watching him. Then we were sitting on his couch together. I was snuggled close to him and his hands were wrapped protectively around my waist. The television was on.
I woke up lightly and calmly. I wasn't scared or frightened and I didn't feel particularly different. I did remember the dream I had had though. I didn't know what to make of it as it was rather strange. I sat in my bed for a few extra moments contemplating my strange mind. I let out a sigh and stood to see if the food had arrived. Today would be the last day I would receive it, but I was okay with that. Over the past couple days, Sherlock hadn't even bothered me. I also never even tried to see him and instead went borrowing which I was slowly getting more successful at.
I made my way downstairs and was surprised to see Krissy appear along withe the rations.
"Krissy," I asked, "what are you doing here?"
She gave me a bright smile and said, "Here to see you, silly!" I was still confused as to why she showed up, but I decided to confine in her while she was here.
"Okay. I'll make some food right now and you can stay and eat."
"Sounds good." She moved to sit on my couch and pulled out her phone as she sat. I silently made breakfast with the things she brought and some other borrowed food. When I finished, I placed the breakfast onto two plates and brought them over to her. "Thanks," she said a reached for a pancake.
"So, there's something I need to talk to you about," I said seriously. She looked at me and turned off her phone, placing it on the coffee table in front of her.
    "What is it?"
I took in a deep breath and explained everything. I told her about how Sherlock discovered me and how he knew where I was now. I also told her about what I had said the last time I saw him in my room and talked about how he hadn't even tried to contact me in the past few days. I had expected her to be extremely surprised and confused, but she just sat and listened quietly. When I finished, there was a moment of silent before I said, "So, what should I do now?"
She waited a moment before replying, "Honestly, I was expecting this. The way your eyes lit up when you talked about him the last time, I could tell you didn't have a case of drunk love. I was sure you wouldn't reveal yourself, but I was worried that the side effects would lead you to do strange things. I should probably tell you something now."
    "Tell me what?"
She gulped and said, "I was lying when I told you there is nothing you can do about your love for him. In all honesty, it's not uncommon for magical creatures and mortals to fall in love. That's usually how most people discover the magical side of the world, out of love for a magical creature. But, there are magical creatures that don't believe in mortal-magical relationships, so it's hard to get along that way. I do believe the world has changed though, but I didn't want to tell you in case I was mistaken about your love."
I was hurt she didn't tell me, but I understood. She cleared her throat before saying, "I do know what your next move should be though." At this, she gave me a mischievous smile. My eyes lit up and I asked, "What?"
She still had the smile on her face when she said, "Go on a date with him." I was taken aback by this and questioned her with a, "What?"
She giggled and said, "How about I give you another one of those potions?"
Before I could overthink the situation, I heard a noise in my room.
"What was that?" I asked. Krissy looked at me and whispered, "Let's go check it out." We both jumped off the couch and quietly climbed the ladder of nails to my room. While we were creeping down the hallway leading to the doorway into my room, we heard a loud THUMP. We glanced at each other with horrified looks. Before I could say anything, Krissy ran to the doorway. She had a ball of magic in her hands and was about to throw it when her eyes widened and the ball of magic faded. She stood there, paralyzed.
I quickly ran over to see what she saw, not even realizing the lighting had changed. When I made it to the doorway, and looked to see what it was, I saw what I never would've imagined I could see. The piece of wall leading into Sherlock's  apartment had fallen off and Sherlock's face was in it. His eyes revealed surprise at seeing another tiny person, but otherwise, his face was blank. Emotionless as usual, I thought.
"Uh, hi..." Sherlock said. I just stared at him, not answering. I grabbed Krissy's arms and pulled her and me out of sight. Sherlock said nothing, but I didn't hear him move. Krissy regained control of herself and whispered, "I have never seen a human while being the size of a borrower before. I know how you felt when you first met me now."
"What do I do?" I asked her.
"I don't know, you could go see what he wants."
"What if he wants to put me under a microscope? He's a detective you know." He--" Before I could complete the next sentence, I heard Sherlock say, "Yes, I am a detective. I also have more-than-perfect hearing. Can I talk to you, Carrie?" Krissy looked at me with wide eyes. I mouthed what now? a she shrugged. I gulped and turned to the doorway. I emerged and could see Sherlock's amazing, not to mention enormous, face leaning close to the wall. His eyes landed on me and he immediately started studying me. I awkwardly stood in front of him playing with my fingers in front of my body. When he decided to stop looking me over he asked, "So, you're not the only one?" I understood his question, but I was offended for whatever reason.
I built up the courage to look him in the huge green eyes. "Uh, yeah. I'm not..." I said. He began asking me more questions.
"So are you part of an entire race of tiny people?" I didn't respond and instead asked, "Why are you really here?" I was surprised that I was able to be so demanding with him. It must have been because he wouldn't have been able to reached through the opening and grab me.
He looked hurt and said, "Well, um, I wanted to check on you and, uh, see if you were okay..." He trailed off, looked away from me, and blushed. I was confused as to why he was "checking on me". Krissy better know how to speak male.
"Well, here I am. Safe and sound," I said and let out a sort of small laugh and started playing with my hands again. I, too, blushed.
"Sorry about your door," he said and looked at it lying on the floor in front of him.
"It's okay I can have Krissy help me fix it-- she's the other tiny person you just saw." At that, Krissy walked in and said, "Hi."
He started studying her and said, "Hello." I could tell Krissy was uncomfortable, so to break the silence I said, "So, Krissy, is it okay if he sees you doing, um, you know, stuff that normal people can't?"
She looked at me and said, "Oh, yeah. Let me just fix this for you." Sherlock watched her every move as she used her magic to reattach the chunk to the wall. He was hiding his emotions again, but I knew the next time I saw him he would ask me millions of questions about her magic.
"I should probably go now. Uh, see you sometime."
"Okay, bye," he said. I walked to the door and pushed it shut.
"Wow." Krissy said once I had securely closed the wall.

***

When we got downstairs, we talked about Sherlock for awhile and I explained how he really hides his emotions, so she didn't think he was some heartless monster. When we finished discussing him, we got back to the conversation we were having before. She explained that she would make me big for a few days with an enhanced potion and let me live with him for a few days. She said it would be a good to test his love for me. After a long debate, she convinced me it would be a good experience. Tomorrow I was to go into his apartment and make myself big. She told me she would be back in a few hours with the potion and the pin to keep my clothes correctly sized. I was nervous and excited.
As she was about the teleport herself away I said, "One more thing, do you know what it means for him to come and 'check on me'?"
She gave me a smile and said, "That means he cares about you and wants you to be safe," and with that she disappeared into a cloud of sparkly purple and blue smoke.
