"Connie I just don't know what to do about the gems anymore! I mean I can't convince any of them to move on" I rubbed my temples frustrated in thought. "I mean you know first hand me you lapis and peridot have been the only ones picking up the slack. THEY'RE NOT MOTIVATED TO DO ANYTHING!" I yelled a bit angered. Connie just sat beside me and listened "Steven it's tough for the gems but you have to trust that when the time comes they'll pull together" I shook my head "I can understand them being down and out for a few years buts it been 14 years....14  YEARS CONNIE!" I yelled my tone then softened "Connie I'm 28 now, and the gems aren't anything how I use to remember" a few tears left my eyes. "Connie you'll be turning 27 in a few days" I took her hand as she laid her head on my shoulder. "Yeah, we're getting older Steven" she said softly. "No you're getting older Connie, I don't have to age, I just do it so people won't feel bad, I can't go running around like I'm still 14" I said looking into the ocean. It was quite and peaceful "the gems are on the verge of being corrupted" I finally chocked out, Connie looked at me shocked with wide eyes "can't you stop them" she said worried for they're well being. "Connie I've been trying but you know corruption is when you're mentality just can't handle reality anymore. And the gems....." I said bring my knee up to my chest "the gems can't take it anymore...I heard Ruby and sapphire talking about it earlier, I didn't say anything but they're really trying to hang in there....I know it has to be exhausting" I sighed. "Steven..." Connie said looking at me. "Neither one of us has really said anything about it but we've been dating for a while, and maybe it's just time to....go to the next thing ya know" I looked at her confused. "You know like....getting married" my eyes went wide, I mean I loved Connie, she was my best friend and my girlfriend. She made everything ok, but getting married and under these circumstances. I smiled slightly and held her hand."Connie, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, but you have dreams and you have goals. I won't let you give up on everything you want in life....we have to face the truth I'll always be here" I said alittle sad by the cold hard truth but it was true. Connie could be long gone and I'd still be here. "So why not let me live in the moment, Steven I want to get married" she said pleading tears welling up in her eyes. I smiled before kissing her. "Connie" I said softly. "Y-yes" she stuttered. I smiled and nuzzles her neck "let's get married"........

                             ~Homeworld~

Earth was coming into view on the scanners it'd be a couple more hours before we reached the planet. "K, why  exactly are you going back to earth" peridot asked still typing at her keyboard. I shout her confused look but she wasn't looking at me. "What do you mean?" I asked honestly lost. "Well" she looked up from her keyboard and turned around "I pulled some old records, you were retrieved from earth, by a gem who crash landed on earth, why where you there in the first place" I sunk down in my chair baffled by the new information i hadn't known of till now. "I-i don't remember.....no one told me anything about it" Jasper looked at me and then back at peridot "I heard from the diamonds that she was an important asset to homeworld, when I heard about this mission I thought why would someone as important as her be going back to earth" I looked over at Jasper who had her arms fold behind her back. "I'm...important to homeworld, I mean I have no idea what any of you are talking about, as far as my memory serves me I didn't exist and then I did, I lived and breathed for the order of the diamonds" I said furrowing my brow. "For answers, we're headed to earth for answers....these gems that were capturing...they have some sort of tie to you, I personally believe that they held you against your will until you managed to escape and be rescued.....it may not be the case, but that's what I believe" peridot said  turning to face me. "It doesn't matter why I'm going back or what happened in the past what matters is that I finally put this behind me and continue serving my diamond...if I can be of use to her then my life is complete" I said making sure that everyone knew that was the end of the conversation. As funny as it may have been I wasn't really happy with my life being complete if I could serve the diamonds. I don't know why it's just apart of me felt like I didn't belong here....and maybe I didn't.

Amethyst pov

I was sitting on the couch when Pearl walked in. As usual she was ignoring me. A few moments later Ruby and sapphire came in from there rooms and sat down on the couch to. Pearl had walked into the kitchen and leaned against the counter. The warp pad activated and peridot lapis and Jasper where here. I couldn't remember the last time all of us was in the same room, but it rarely happened. Which made me think something was up. As if on cue Steven came running in with Connie "WERE GOING TO GET MARRIED!!" He shouted he looked so happy to. "Congratulations Steven, because we ALL know how well the LAST wedding went," I said completely angered at the statement. "Amethyst please" peridot said trying to calm me down "No I mean, why do you even need to get married, she's just gonna grow old and DIE. And then you'll feel like crap! YOULL FEEL EXACTLY HOW WE FEEL STEVEN!" I yelled at him. Honestly I wanted to be happy for him but I couldn't, Connie is a human. She going to die. And then Steven will be just like us..broken. And that's the last thing we need to deal with. It may sound selfish but we all got one foot in the corrupted door, Steven has to be well and in his right mind to take care of us when it does get like that, and he can't do that if he's corrupting himself over his dead wife. Connie had a sad look on her face but she didn't say anything she just looked down to where a shadow was casted over her eyes. "Amethyst, if you are going to act like that....then...then YOU DONT HAVE TO COME," Steven gripped at his hair he had tears streaming down his face "ALL YOU EVER DO IS SIT AROUND AND FEEL BAD BECAUSE SHES GONE! WELL THATS IT..SHE GONE. WE WONT EVER SEE HER AGAIN JUST MOVE ON! I MEAN HERE I AM TRYING TO BE HAPPY AND GIVE YOU GUYS SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO AND YOURE JUST CRUSHING ME......I-I don't even know who you are anymore" he said finally...there was an awkward untouched silence that last what felt like forever. "Steven, I wish you a happy life with Connie" Pearl said through greeted teeth and a forced smile. I stood up "yeah, congratulations Steven" I said walking to the warp pad as peridot Jasper and lapis stepped off. "I'm very proud of you Steven me and Ruby both" sapphire added as she stood on the warp pad with amethyst followed by Ruby.  " I don't think I'll be going. I don't want to take part in this planets customs anymore" Pearl said looking down clenching her fist.  " I don't even want to protect it any more" Pearl finished as she stepped on the warp pad. Steven looked down holding connies hand, to sad to say anything. After which the ground begin to shake and a loud almost siren like sound burst through the air shattering the Windows. Everyone had ran out side to see what the intrusion was. There on the beach laid a homeworld ship. As if we were a team again everyone drew there weapons. The door opened slowly..............

What happened next almost killed us....
