Y/n was using his magic to levitate a big boulder and he smashed it with ten punches.

Y/n: That's better than last time.

Y/n looked up at the sky and saw dark clouds.

Y/n: Rain? No, (sniffs the air) that's smoke.

???: Y/n!

Y/n turned to see Spike.

Y/n: How'd you find me?

Spike: You were lifting a big boulder in the middle of an open field. That's pretty hard to miss.

Y/n: Don't get smart with me. Now, what do you want? I'm guessing you're here on your Master's behalf.

Spike: If by "Master" you mean Twilight, then yes. She's asking all the Elements of Harmony to meet at the Golden Oak Library. She asked for you especially with you not only being the Element of Trust, but she also believes your fighting skills could be needed.

Y/n: Now I'm interested. Let's go.

Y/n and Spike went over to the library.

The two made it to the library where everyone else was.

Twilight: Oh, Y/n! Glad to see you're here.

Y/n: What's going on? What's with the smoke?

Twilight: It's coming from a dragon.

Y/n: A dragon? Like a full-grown dragon?

Twilight: That's the one.

Applejack: What in the name of all things cinnamon swirl is a full-grown dragon doing here in Equestria?

Twilight: Sleeping.

Mane 6: Huh?

Twilight: According to Princess Celestia, he's taking a nap. His snoring is what's causing all this smoke.

Pinkie: He should really see a doctor. That doesn't sound healthy at all.

Rarity: Well, at least he's not snoring fire. What are we meant to do about it?

Rainbow Dash: I'll tell you what we're meant to do. Give him the boot!

Y/n: You know, this mare and I are actually on the same page for once.

Rainbow Dash: See. I knew we were buds.

Twilight: We need to encourage him to take a nap somewhere else. Princess Celestia has given us this mission, and we must not fail. If we do, Equestria will be covered in smoke for the next 100 years.

Rarity: Talk about getting your beauty sleep.

Y/n: Meh. 100 years isn't so long.

Twilight: For an immortal being like you maybe.

Y/n: Oh, yeah.

Twilight: All right, everypony, I need you to gather supplies quickly. We've got a long journey ahead of us. Let's meet back here in less than an hour.

Rainbow Dash: Okay, guys, you heard her! The fate of Equestria is in our hooves. Do we have what it takes?!

Everyone agreed and went out except for Fluttershy and Y/n.

Fluttershy: Um... actually...

Y/n noticed she looked a bit more shaken than usual.

Y/n: Is there a problem, Fluttershy?

Fluttershy: N-No problem at all.

Y/n: I know the face of hesitation when I see it. Now, what's wrong?

Fluttershy: It's just... I'm afraid of dragons.

Y/n: You're afraid of dragons? You do realize you constantly interact with one every day, right?

Fluttershy: Spike's different. He's a sweet, baby dragon. This one is a full-grown dragon. They're a lot meaner.

Y/n: Hmm. If that's the case, I'll tell Twilight you cannot be on the mission.

Fluttershy: No! What would the others think of me if they knew I was scared?

Y/n: I'm pretty sure they're going to think of you the same way they always have. Plus, your fear will make you more of a liability than an asset.

Fluttershy: I promise, if you don't tell them, I won't get in the way.

Y/n: ...Fine, but you better keep good on that promise.

Fluttershy: I will. Thank you, your highness.

Less than an hour later.

Everyone was lined up to leave Ponyville.

Y/n: All right, we're about to be face-to-face with a dragon. So, if you'd like to stay out of this, I suggest you speak up now. If not, Twilight Sparkle has devised a plan for us that she will explain now.

Twilight: Thank you, Prince Y/n. Listen up. I'm mapping out the fastest route, but we've all got to keep a good pace if we expect to make it up the mountain by nightfall.

Fluttershy: M-Mountain?

Twilight: The dragon is in that cave at the very top.

She pointed to a mountain with lots of smoke and snow at the top.

Applejack: Looks pretty cold up there.

Rainbow Dash: You bet it is. The higher you go, the chillier it gets.

Rarity: Good thing I brought my scarf.

Rarity took out a pink scarf from her saddle bag.

Pinkie: Ooh! Pretty!

Rainbow Dash: Oh, yeah. That'll keep you nice and cozy.

Y/n: Fluttershy, this is your last chance to to call out from this mission.

Fluttershy: I'm really scared, but I'll push through.

Y/n: Fine. But just remember, you wanted this.

Twilight: All right, guys. Move out.

They all rushed to the mountain where they all heard a loud snore.

Rainbow Dash: Whoa! What was that?

Twilight: That is what it sounds like when a dragon snores.

Fluttershy: It's- It's so... high.

Rainbow Dash: Well, it is a mountain. I'm gonna fly up there and check it out!

Rainbow was about to fly up, but Applejack grabbed her tail.

Applejack: Hold on, now. I think we should all go up together. Safety in numbers and all.

Rainbow Dash: Oh, all right.

They all began to climb the mountain.

Rarity: I hear the only thing that sparkles more than a dragon's scales are the jewels they use to build their nests. Oh. If I play my cards right, I might be able to convince him to part with a few.

Y/n: Only you would be worrying about jewels at a time like this.

Twilight: Y/n's right. This is a serious matter. Fluttershy, you're the expert on wild creatures. What do you think the dragon will be like?

They turned back and saw Fluttershy was still at the bottom.

Twilight: Fluttershy?

Rainbow Dash: Hey, what are you waiting for- an invitation?

Pinkie: Ooh! I think I have one of my bag.

Pinkie pulled out an invite and confetti popped out.

Fluttershy: I-It's so... so... steep.

Rainbow Dash: Well, it is a cliff. You could just- Oh, I don't know- fly up here.

Pinkie: Come on, Fluttershy, you can do it! Flap those wings.

Fluttershy: Uh... okay.

Fluttershy began to fly up, but when she heard the dragon's snore again, her wings froze up and she couldn't fly.

Twilight: (sigh) We don't have time for this.

Y/n: Leave it to me.

Y/n used a levitation spell to lift Fluttershy on to the cliff with them.

Twilight: Nice work, your highness.

They continued on until they saw a small cliff that they all easily jumped across, except Fluttershy.

Twilight: Your turn, Fluttershy.

Fluttershy: But it's so wide.

Twilight: Come on, Fluttershy. We shouldn't be much farther along by now.

Applejack: You could just leap on over.

Fluttershy: I- I don't know.

Twilight, Applejack and Y/n shook their heads.

They were able to get back on the path and it had a bunch rocks.

Twilight: (Whispering: Let's keep it down. According to my map, we're entering an avalanche Zone. The smallest peep could cause a huge rock slide.)

Fluttershy: An- An ava- Ava

Twilight: Shh.

They began to walk along quietly until a leaf touched Fluttershy's flank.

Fluttershy: Avala-

Applejack covered her mouth and when nothing happened, they all sighed in relief, but the ground began to shake and a bunch of rocks fell.

Mane six: Avalanche!

Everyone tried to avoid the rocks and five big ones made there way to Y/n, but he smashed all five with one punch. He saw one was gonna crush Twilight, but he shattered it, too. It eventually stopped and and everyone was coughing from the dust, but were unharmed.

Applejack: Everypony okay?

Twilight: Thanks to Y/n I am.

Y/n: I couldn't let an Element die on my watch.

Rarity was all dusty and when she shook it off, I got Pinkie who was just hopping around.

Pinkie: Whoo-hoo! Let's do it again!

Rarity: (scoff) This is why a girl always packs extra accessories.

Rarity put on her scarf.

Rarity: Oh, please tell me I brought the tiara that goes with this.

Rainbow Dash: Uh, I think we got bigger problems than making sure our hair bows match our horseshoes.

The avalanche blocked the path.

Fluttershy: (sigh) Sorry.

Applejack: Ah, no big whoop, sugarcube.

Twilight: Yeah. We'll just have to (sigh) climb over.

Y/n: That'll take to long. Step aside.

They all got behind Y/n and he pointed his horn towards the blockage.

Y/n: Hakai.

A violet light shined on the blockage and it turned into violet particles.

Y/n: There. Now, let's get moving.

They continued on the path.

Twilight: Y/n, I thought Hakai was the violet sphere.

Y/n: There are different versions of Hakai that depend on how much power I use. That light version is what I use when I use little to none of my power.

Twilight: There is still so much I don't know about you.

They kept walking until they finally made it to the cave.

Twilight: We're here.

Y/n: So, what's the plan now?

Twilight: Rainbow Dash, you'll use your wings to clear the smoke.

Rainbow nodded and flew up.

Twilight: Rarity and Pinkie Pie, you create a diversion to distract the dragon if things get a little hairy in there. Applejack, you're ready with the apples in case he decides to attack.

Applejack kicked two apples into a tree.

Y/n: I really don't know what you think a bunch of apples are gonna do to a full-grown dragon.

Twilight: Well, that's where you come in. You're our last line of defense in case everything else fails since you're the strongest out of all of us.

Y/n: It's nice that you see it that way.

Twilight: But it shouldn't come to that because Fluttershy will do what she needs to do to wake him up. And between the two of us, we should be able to get him to understand why he needs to go. Is everypony ready?

Everyone nodded except for Fluttershy.

Twilight: Okay, then. We're going in.

Twilight went into the cave.

Twilight: So... What is the best way to wake up a sleeping dragon without upsetting him?

Twilight looked behind her and saw Fluttershy didn't follow her.

Twilight: Fluttershy? Oh, come on.

She saw Fluttershy with her head in the ground.

Twilight: Come on! We have to do this. Now!

Twilight trivia to push Fluttershy in, but she wouldn't budge.

Twilight: Every second longer that dragon sleeps is another acre of Equestria that is covered in Smoke.

Fluttershy: I...I... I can't go in the cave.

Rainbow Dash: Oh, great! She's scared of caves now, too.

Fluttershy: I'm not scared of caves. I'm scared of dr...

Applejack: What's that, Sugarcube?

Fluttershy: I'm scared of drag...

Twilight: What?

Y/n: Oh, my- She's scared of dragons.

The dragon snored again and more smoke came out at them making them cough.

Twilight: But, Fluttershy, you have a wonderful Talent dealing with all kinds of animals.

Fluttershy: Yes, because they're not dragons.

Rainbow Dash: Oh, come on! We've seen you walk right up to a horrible manticore like it was nothing.

Fluttershy: Yes, because he wasn't a dragon.

Y/n: She had an easier time then because that the Manticore was barely bigger than us. And before anyone brings up Spike, she isn't afraid of him because he's not full-grown.

Twilight: Wait, Y/n, you knew she was afraid.

Y/n: She told me she wouldn't get in the way if I didn't say anything, but if I knew the plan involved her playing a significant role, I would have spoke up and ordered Fluttershy to stay in Ponyville.

Fluttershy: I was afraid to say anything.

Applejack: All of us are scared of that dragon.

Rainbow Dash: I'm not!

Y/n: Neither am I.

Applejack: Almost all of us are scared of that dragon, but we've got a job to do. So get in there with Twilight and show her what you're made of.

Fluttershy: I... I... I just... can't.

Fluttershy began to walk back down the mountain.

Twilight: Oh, Fluttershy.

Y/n just watched quietly.

Y/n: You girls proceed with Twilight's plan, I'll go talk to Fluttershy.

Twilight: Are you sure?

Y/n: Are you questioning me?

Twilight: O-Of course not, your highness. We'll do it.

Y/n flew after Fluttershy and caught up with her.

Y/n: We need to talk.

Fluttershy: Oh, Prince Y/n. Are you here to convince me to go back?

Y/n: whether or not you want to go back is up to you, but there's something I want you to know. It's okay to be scared.

Fluttershy stopped walking.

Fluttershy: It is?

Y/n: Yeah. I never knew what it was like to be afraid, but I do know it's not about being afraid, it's what you do when you're afraid. Someponies run, others use that fear to fight harder. So, all I'm saying is your reaction is a normal one.

Fluttershy: Why are you being so nice to me.

Y/n: Well, to be honest, I don't really know myself. Maybe it's because there's something about you that reminds me of Luna.

Fluttershy: Your sister?

Y/n: Yeah. Listen, leave or help us with the dragon. The choice is yours and yours alone.

Fluttershy thought for a moment.

Fluttershy: I-

Before she could finish, they heard a loud roar.

Fluttershy: Was that-

Y/n: Yes.

They quickly flew back to the others and saw a big red dragon leave the cave.

Y/n: What the Tartarus is going on here?!

Twilight: I tried to get the dragon to leave by talking to him, that didn't work, and one thing led to another and now we're here.

Y/n: (sigh) Looks like I'll have to step in after all.

Y/n flew up to the dragon's eye level.

Y/n: Hope you enjoyed your nap, because I'll putting you in a longer one.

The dragon try to swipe its claw at Y/n, but he flew out of the way and shot a big beam in the air that broke off into smaller beams that hit the dragon and ended it with a magical hoof to the stomach that knocked the dragon back into the cave.

Rainbow Dash: Alright, Y/n!

The dragon came back out looking angrier than before.

Y/n: Looks like you need more beatings.

The dragon breathed fire at Y/n who tried to dodge, but got one of his wings burned and he crashed into the ground.

Mane six: Y/n!

Twilight ran to Y/n to check on him and Fluttershy just watched everything with her eyes and mouth wide which turned to a face of anger.

Fluttershy: How dare you? How dare you?!

Fluttershy flew right in the dragon's face.

Fluttershy: Listen here, mister! Just because you're big doesn't mean you get to be a bully! You may have huge teeth and sharp scales and snore smoke and breathe fire, but you do not- I repeat- you do not hurt my friends! You got that? Well?

The dragon lost all anger on its face.

Dragon: But that rainbow one kicked me and the caped one blasted and punched me.

Rainbow nodded while Y/n let out a small groan.

Fluttershy: And I am very sorry about that. But you're bigger than they are, and you should know better. You should also know better than to take a nap where you're snoring can become a health hazard to other creatures.

Dragon: But I-

Fluttershy: Don't you "but I" me, mister. Now, what do you have to say for yourself?

The dragon didn't respond.

Fluttershy: I said, what you have to say for yourself?

The dragon began to break down into tears.

Fluttershy: There, there. No need to cry. You're not a bad dragon. You just made a bad decision. Now, go pack your things. You just need to find a new place to sleep. That's all.

When she flew down, the mane five began to cheer for her.

Twilight: You did it. I knew you could do it.

The dragon flew away as Y/n got up groaning.

Twilight: Y/n!

With tears in her eyes, Twilight gave Y/n a tight hug.

Y/n: Easy. I just got burned.

Twilight: Oh, (chuckle nervously) oops.

Later.

They made it back to Ponyville where Twilight had Spike write a letter to Celestia.

Twilight: "Dear Princess Celestia, I am happy to report that the dragon has departed our fair country, and that it was my good friend, Fluttershy, who convinced him to go. This adventure has taught me to never lose faith in your friends. They can be an amazing source of strength, and can help you overcome even your greatest fears. Always your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle."

Applejack called from outside.

Applejack: Twilight, you got to come see this!

She came out to see Rainbow bouncing a ball.

Applejack: She's just five away from a new pony record.

Rainbow Dash: 347, 348...

She heard a roar and dropped the ball.

Rainbow Dash: Dragon!

She fell over and everyone except Y/n laughed.

Rainbow Dash: Why are you laughing? That awful dragon is back!

It turned out to be Pinkie making the roar.

Rainbow Dash: Pinkie Pie, you scared me! I mean, uh... You broke my concentration.

Fluttershy: It's okay, Rainbow Dash. Not everypony can be as brave as me.

A leaf landed on her flank again and she shrieked in fear which again made everyone except Y/n laugh. Speaking of Y/n, Twilight saw him try to walk away.

Twilight: Y/n, where are you going?

Y/n: I'm going home obviously.

Twilight: Well, you can't go alone with a burn that bad. Where do you live?

Y/n: In the forest.

Twilight: Wait, like the Everfree Forest?

Y/n: That's the one.

Twilight: Yeah, no. You cannot be in that place in this condition.

Y/n: I'll be fi-

Y/n moved the wrong way and that caused his burn to hurt.

Twilight: With all due respect, your highness. I don't think you're in any position to argue with me.

Y/n: (sigh) Fine. I'll let you help.

Twilight: Good come with me.

They made their way back to the Golden Oak Library where Twilight put cream on Y/n's burn and wrapped it.

Twilight: That should do it, but I think you should stay with me until it heals just to be safe.

Y/n: Are you sure I won't be a problem?

Twilight: No. In fact, (blushing) I think it would be kinda nice to have you around.

Y/n: Hm.

They heard a knock at the door.

Twilight: I'll get it.

Twilight opened the door and saw it was Pinkie Pie.

Twilight: Hi, Pinkie Pie. What's up?

Pinkie: Well, I heard N/n was resting here so I thought I'd come and check on him. Can I come in?

Twilight: Oh, sure. I guess.

Pinkie rushed to where Y/n was resting.

Pinkie: Hey, N/n!

Y/n: Oh, Pinkie.

Pinkie: I came here to see how you were doing, and to say I hope you get better soon and to give you this.

She pulled out a white box from her mane.

Y/n: What's this?

Y/n used his magic to take the box and open it to reveal a dozen cupcakes.

Pinkie: They're cupcakes. I thought bringing you some would make you feel better quicker.

Y/n: Well, I appreciate it.

Twilight gave a look of jealousy and began pushing Pinkie of the library.

Twilight: Okay, Pinkie. I think Prince Y/n would like some quiet time to rest.

Pinkie: Okay. See you later, N/-

Twilight pushed her out and slammed the door shut.

Twilight: Thought she'd never leave.

She turned back to see Y/n had fallen asleep.

Twilight: He's kinda cute when he's sleeping.
