Chapter 11: Surprise Visitor

Faye

My heart was hurting. Not like heartburn, or an extreme amount of physical pain. But .. Pain. It was almost like watching someone get murdered in cold-blood, only to realize that you're the murderer.

Pain.

"You're awfully quiet," Tammy said, her eyes flicking to me. "Obviously somethings wrong if you're not threatening to kill me."

I curled my lip at her. I hated everyone here. I did. I wanted them all to die slowly and painfully, but the only social interaction I could get was from them so I had to make due. "Mind your own business. It'll get you far in life."

Over the past few days, I've been thinking of my baby. Would they be born in this rot-hole? Would they take them away from me? It led my thoughts to the twins, and my fingers curled in anger. If Livius had them ..

"There she is," Tammy chirped, rolling her eyes and kicking her foot up to prop against the bars of the cell. "I almost thought that she was gone. Would've been way to easy for you to break."

"Breaking me isn't on the agenda, bitch," I responded, crossing my arms and staring up at the ceiling. "I don't know what you want with me, but it won't break me."

"It might." Tammy tore her gaze from the magazine she had in her lap and smirked at me. "You're in for a lot of fun."

"Bring it on," I shot back, locking eyes with her and narrowing them. "I've been kidnapped before. It's nothing new, and honestly I was expecting something .. Original." I shrugged.

Tammy guffaws with laughter and slapped her knee, the sharp sound ringing in my ears. "Oh, Hades, you have a really good sense of humor! The Slayers were to kind and soft on you. Now that you have that-" she pointed to my stomach "-we can do so much more. Blackmail is the best."

"You touch my child, I'll make sure your eyes are stuffed down your throat so you can watch me stab you repeatedly," I growled, my hands going to my stomach protectively. "And that's not a threat. It's a promise."

Tammy continued her hyena laughing, pushing her legs off the cell bars and standing up, her arms snaking behind her neck and linking together in a stretch. "I don't doubt that it's a promise. But to go through with it, you have to be able to break out and take me over."

"Good thing I'm on the inside, then, isn't it?" I snapped, turning away to stare at the wall.

--
Bloodlust. That's what I saw as I stared my beloved Leto in her icy blue eyes, the eyes that usually held comfort and warmth.

"Leto?" I breathed, stepping back in fear. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"

The white dragon didn't respond, she only growled and circled me. The ground was harsh and cold under my bare feet, and the wind strikes my cheeks with bitter vengeance.

"Leto.." I choked weakly, holding my hand out. She snarled at me when I made the movement, her lips curling back to reveal threatening rows of teeth.

Something tugged in the pit of my stomach each time I told myself I had to be dreaming. This dream .. It felt all to real. I stepped closer to Leto, my hand still outstretched as she lunged..

"Wake up." I felt a harsh nudge to my shoulder, shaking me awake from my nightmare. Sweat trickled down my skin and I sat up, hands shaking.

"W-what?" I stuttered, ripping the scratchy wool blanket from my body and letting my eyes study whoever was in front of me.

"You have visitors," said the intruder with a soft chuckle. "I'm sure you know them quite well."

I realized it was Livius speaking and I rubbed my eyes, sitting up completely and leaning against the wall. My focus settled on the two people; a man and a woman ..

Wait ..

"You," I growled, resisting the urge to get up and punch them both square in the nose. "You dare bring them to see me?"

Livius rolled his eyes and folded his arms over his chest. "Oh don't be so dramatic, Faye. You need the company."

"Not from them," I retort, licking my dry lips in frustration. "Tell them to go away."

"No can do." Livius hummed and walked out. "Sit down and chat, sweetheart. I'll be back later."

I folded my arms and glared daggers at the two people in front of me. Lucy's mother and father.

--

Meanwhile, Livius walked down the hallways whistling. He knew he left Faye in the hands of her other enemies, and his allies.

If his plan worked out the way he desires it, then Faye will be in his clutches for a long time. As a dragon rider himself, he can feel the dormant magic inside of her starting to stir like a sleeping dragon coming out of years long sleep.

He was ready to use that magic and destroy her and her family, and anyone else who defied him. Her child would be raised thinking he was it's father, and Faye would have no choice but to agree to that belief. She'll learn to obey Livius, and maybe she'll decide she's going to have to stay with him.

He would make sure she learned her place.

--

"Listen," Lucy's mother said quietly, glancing around. "We hate these people as much as you do."

"Bullshit," I retorted, crossing my arms. "I'm not stupid. I know who's side you play for."

"That was until we found out what Livius had planned for us after he was done using us to get to you."

I hesitantly leaned forward, slightly hooked onto those words as I studied her expression. I couldn't make out anything that held a lie, nothing that showed dishonesty. All I saw was pure honesty, which sent a jolt of fear through my stomach and groin.

"If you want me to trust you, I want you to tell me everything. Right now," I demanded, curling my fingers around each other.

"As you wish," Lucy's father said, sighing slightly and leaning against the bars of the cell. "Yes, originally, we were in alliance with Livius and his band of misfits."

"Misfits?"

"When we agreed to help him, our goal was to cause skirmish and kill a few dragons, but when we figured out his real plans.."

"Kidnapping me? Seems you've beat him to it."

"We kidnapped you to protect you."

"Excuse me?" I raised my eyebrows in disagreement and crossed my arms over my chest, pursing my lips. "You kept me drugged as hell and tried to lure my family into a bloodbath."

"We needed Livius to stop trying to track you," he started, adjusting his white tie and clearing his throat quietly. "We don't like you, you don't like us. But his plans could end up killing the things we hold dear as well."

"This doesn't make us friends," I said coolly, my eyes harsh. "Not in the slightest."

"I agree. We still despise you," Lucy's mother agreed, smiling sarcastically. "But this will benefit us all."

"So what's the plan?" I asked, lowering my head to them so they could whisper to me.

I apologize greatly for how slowly I'm doing on updates. Lately, I've been feeling great writers block and I'm thinking about doing a rewrite on the whole series. These books would stay up, but I just feel it's not good enough and there's way to many plot holes.

I'll try to update again sometime soon. Thanks for putting up with this outrageous schedule.
