"Will you turn off that annoying noise!"

" It's not noise ! It's called music ! "

" Pfft...music? You call that music? "

" Don't you dare say anything about Linkin Park !"

Aaron rolled his eyes for what seemed like the millionth time in a span of fifteen minutes. He tried to focus on his driving , ignoring the two teenagers who had been bickering constantly throughout the short ride. He watched from the corner of his eye as Eliza deliberately turned up the volume of the radio and leaned back into her seat, crossing her arms. He shook his head slightly and glanced at her fondly. As much as he hated to admit it, he knew this was the last day he would ever be near her. He glanced again at his daughter to see her looking at him with a frown etched on her face. He mentally slapped himself when he realized she must have sensed his sadness. He was used to her powers by now but it still unnerved him sometimes. He was relieved when Narsun made yet another snarky comment and momentarily distracted Eliza.

" I honestly do not understand why they're shouting so much. They should've named their band Screaming Park."

" Enough ! Both of you !" Aaron intervened when he saw Eliza turn around in her seat to retort. He immediately turned off the radio ignoring the noise of protest from her. The car was silent for about 2 minutes and he was just starting to relax when suddenly it was interrupted again.

"You still haven't told me where we are going Dad," Eliza said quietly. He gave her a side glance before concentrating on driving. He still couldn't bring himself to tell her the whole truth. Telling her would mean accepting it and he wasn't ready to do that. He subconsciously tightened his grip on the wheel. Before he could come up with a reply, Narsun beat him to it.

" I already told you, we are going to Di-"

" I wasn't talking to you ! " Eliza growled at Narsun.

" But it's the truth -"

" Liz, sweetie, I'll tell you everything as soon as we reach Long Island," Aaron cut in before they started again.

" Long Island? Why -"

" Because we can only open a portal there," Narsun interrupted again.

" Portal?", Eliza said confused. She was getting irritated by the minute not knowing what was happening and Narsun was not helping the situation either.

" Yes, to reach Dirva, we must -"

" Narsun, not now." Aaron said simply ignoring the questioning glance from Eliza. He heard Narsun sigh and lean forward before speaking, " Yes Didus, now is not the time to tell her everything. You should have told her a long time ago." His tone was light as if he was mocking him but he knew he was serious. Even though what he said was true, he chose to ignore him. Narsun, getting the message, sighed and leaned back into his seat again before staring out his window. Eliza looked at Narsun once before staring at her father. He always calls him Didus, she couldn't help but think. What was more baffling to her was that he never once bothered to correct him.

" Dad - ", Eliza started but stopped when she heard her phone beep signalling that she got a text. She knew before even checking her phone that it was from Diana. She smiled as she read the message her best friend sent her.

' Unless you went on a date with a cute guy, you will not be forgiven for ditching me'

Eliza was just about to reply when her father asked in a stern voice, " Who is that Liz?"

" Diana. She is probably worried because I didn't wait for her after school as usual. I'll just tell her -"

" No. Don't say anything, Just switch off your phone."

Eliza looked at her father with slightly widened eyes. " Dad it's Diana, I have to atleast give her a heads up if we're going away for God knows how long."

" You'll just put her in danger too if you tell her," it wasn't her father who answered her but Narsun again much to her annoyance. Even though she started slightly panicking at his statement, she did not let it show.

" No one asked you."

" Can't you stop being difficult even for a second?"

" Only when you stop being so nosy", she answered simply, smirking a little when she saw him glaring at him. But his glare quickly turned into a mischievous smile. She saw him lean forward slightly, and dramatically place a hand under his chin before replying," What can I say? I can't help being nosy when it comes to matters regarding you."

Eliza scoffed and quickly turned to face forward before he could see the blush that crept on to her cheeks. She switched off her phone and tucked it back into her bag. She didn't know what danger she was in but she knew she didn't want to involve Diana into this. After a few seconds, she turned to her dad who she saw, was hiding his smile. She narrowed her eyes at him and said," Dad, you're still not telling me what's going on."

He looked at her briefly before sighing and concentrating on the road again. " I'll tell you everything when we reach Long Island, Liz. I promise. Until then just trust me please."

Eliza didn't say anything. Instead she turned and stared out the window watching the traffic go by. The rest of the car ride was remarkably silent. Narsun was clearly preoccupied with his own thoughts as he stared out his own window and her father continued driving without a word. She didn't like the silence as there was nothing to distract her now from her thoughts.

They reached Long Island beach after an hour.

Eliza stepped out of the car tentatively as she looked around. They arrived at what seemed like the edge of a cliff but she could hear the sea close by. She looked around but she couldn't see anyone but that hardly surprised her because the road that led here was deserted too. She turned around when she heard the car door shut and Narsun walked over to where she was standing, a scowl on his face.

" Ugh, I hate sand", he said looking down at his boots and shaking slightly to get the sand off them.

Eliza glanced at him once and simply ignored him. She turned towards her father who was heaving the duffel bag with some difficulty and making his way to them.

" Dad what are we doing here? "

Aaron briefly met her eyes and quickly dropped his gaze as he set the duffel bag on the ground. Eliza waited for him to say something patiently. Narsun, surprisingly, didn't interrupt this time and simply walked away from them to go near the cliff. When he was out of earshot, Aaron spoke up," There is so much to tell and there is very little time so listen carefully and save your questions for later. Okay?"

" Okay, go on", she said, involuntarily glancing at Narsun who was now almost at the edge of the cliff.

" Well, For starters, my real name is Didus Kilon, not Aaron. I took that name to hide myself and you in this world. Do you remember how I told you that I was an orphan and that is why you don't have any family?" He asked almost hesitantly.

Eliza simply nodded, not trusting herself to speak. She already dreaded the direction in which the conversation was going.

Aaron gulped nervously and continued, " Well, I do, but just not in this world. I-I mean, I have a brother back in Dirva. I don't know how or where he is now, but I'm not an orphan. "

Eliza's eyes widened slightly and she frowned before she spoke, " Dad, what has that to do with anything that's going on now? And where is this Dirva? "

Didus sighed and ran a hand through his blonde hair before saying, " No it doesn't, I j-just wanted to tell you that...anyways, the real reason you're in danger is because you're incredibly powerful."

" Powerful? "

" Yes, remember how you can sense other's emotions? Well, that's just one of the many things you're capable of."

" Dad what are you trying to say? That I have superpowers?" Eliza said, sighing exasperatedly. Her father's words didn't make any sense to her but the feeling of dread grew in her.

" Let me finish, Liz. They're not called superpowers. It's called your Esme. What you saw Narsun do, earlier today, with the gun, that's esme. And all the people born in Dirva have it, I do too. Dirva, it's not a place you can find on any map, like Narsun said. You could call it another dimension but that would hardly cover it. I was born there and so were you," he paused before speaking again," Now, Dirva has a rival country, It's called Tamsus and the people from it are called Tamsians. They are the ones after you. "

Eliza simply stared at her father as she took it all in. Although the words reached her ear, she couldn't make any sense of them. Dirva? Tamsus? She was born in a different world?

" Dad- "

" No, let me finish. Like I said, There isn't much time. The both of us - Dirvans and Tamsians- have been at each other's throat for centuries now. And things took a turn for the worse, 60 years ago, when the Tamsians declared war on us. Unfortunately, they've been winning and our kind has been diminishing. However, 20 years ago, a prophecy was made. A prophecy, if it came true, that could mean the ultimate victory for us," he paused looking at her, as if trying to gauge what she was feeling.

He glanced once at Narsun who was still standing a good distance away from them before continuing, " Before I tell you what this prophecy is, you have to know something else. Eliza, y-you are not my daughter."

Eliza took a step back at his words, shocked. Her mind was whirling with a thousand questions but she didn't have the voice to speak them. Her eyes searched his face as if she waited for him to take back what he said . But the regretful look in his eyes and the sadness waving off of him confirmed that what he said was true. Slowly, but surely, her father was indicating that her whole life was a lie and she was devastated by the thought of it. It was taking all of her willpower to not let the tears fall from her eyes. It took a few moments before she responded.

" D-dad w-what do you mean..."

" Oh, Liz. I'm so sorry," He said stepping forward and hugging her tightly. She breathed in the familiar warm dad-like scent of him and her mind calmed down a bit. It didn't matter if they weren't biologically related but he would always be her father, she decided. " I should have told you this sooner. I should have prepared you for all of this but I just couldn't do it Liz. I-I just couldn't", he said stroking her hair gently while still hugging her.

" I was being so selfish. I realize that now." He said and pulled back from her to look at her. His eyes were filled with unshed tears same as hers. " A part of me did want to tell you everything and prepare you but the other part of me wanted to shelter you from all that so we both could live a normal life. And I think the latter part of me kind of won," he said laughing humorlessly.

" I honestly don't know what I was thinking, making that decision for you Liz. It wasn't mine to make. When you were first placed in my arms, I knew I had to prepare you. But as I watched you grow, I didn't want to let you go. You were all I had in my miserable life. And I didn't want you to face any danger, because that's what you have to do in Dirva. I'm so sorry Liz. I really am. I was going to tell you everything. They were going to send someone on your 18th birthday so I thought I had a lot of time to tell you, but...I'm so sorry Liz."

" Dad it's okay", Eliza said placing a hand over his cheek. Even though she was distressed right now, she didn't want her father to blame himself.

" No it's not," he said taking her hand and firmly grasping it, "When Narsun showed up at our apartment this morning, it was a wake up call for me. There's still so much you have to know Liz. The reason why the Tamsians are after you is because -" he stopped mid sentence and visibly paled. He snapped his head to the direction of the road that led up to the cliff and narrowed his eyes in concentration.

" Dad, what's wrong ?"

" Didus ! They're coming ! " she heard Narsun shout while running towards them. She didn't need to be a genius to figure out that he meant the Tamsians were coming.

" How do you know? " she asked Narsun as soon as he was in earshot.
He looked at her briefly before bending down and rummaging through the duffel bag, " You can sense them in this world and so would you if you had the proper training. "

He didn't make any sense to her but she left it at that and watched worriedly when her Father too sprang into action and plucked a few guns. He was still looking at the road every now and then, waiting for the first signs of danger to show.

" Narsun! Why the hell haven't you opened the portal yet?! " Didus all but screamed at the teenager who was still rummaging through the bag.

" In a minute! I just need to find the - Ah here it is! " he stood up quickly with a crystal in his hand.

" You kept the Seila in the bag!?! "

" Well where else would I keep it?!" Narsun shouted back angrily.

" What is that?" Eliza asked just to cut through the tension.

Narsun looked at her then, " No time to explain, come on." He motioned with his hands to follow and started walking towards the cliff. She felt someone pushing her gently and looked up to see her father smiling at her worriedly. She reluctantly followed and watched as Narsun placed the crystal on the ground a few feet away from the edge of the cliff.

He took out something metal from his pocket and she watched in wide eyed wonder when the metal piece grew into a lethal looking sword in less than a second. How is that possible? She didn't bother voicing out her thought as she knew that it would not be answered. Didus, on the other hand, was still looking at the road.

Narsun was muttering something under his breath drawing a circle around the crystal with his sword. She leaned in closer to hear him and realized he was saying an incantation.
She couldn't make sense of what he was saying but that hardly bothered her as she saw the crystal glow. She watched as it glowed brighter before a white light shot out of it and a hole opened in the air. At least that's what it looked like. The edges of the hole were glowing blue and the inside was a glowing white.

"Is this the port - " she stopped mid sentence when she heard the unmistakable sound of a car approaching. She whirled around the same time as Didus did and watched as a BMW screeched to a halt just a few hundred meters away from them, probably because her father was pointing a gun towards them.

" Eliza. Get behind me. Now. " her father breathed. She obediently did it without a question so that she was standing exactly over Narsun who was still reciting something. The only indicator that he knew they arrived was the way his muscles tensed under his jacket.

She watched as five men exited the car. Two of them were wearing suits while the remaining were dressed casually. The only thing that seemed odd about them was the metal rods they held in their hands. She couldn't see them properly from behind her father's shoulder but she saw one of the men who was dressed in a suit step forward. He looked well into his 60's but still held himself with a confidence. He didn't seem the least bit intimidated about the gun pointed at him. Instead he smiled a wicked smile looking directly at her before directing his attention to Didus.

" Ah Didus. what a displeasure. I was honestly hoping you were dead." The silver haired man spoke, his voice cold as ice. His partners formed a loose semi circle around him, smiling just as wickedly as him.

" Yet here I am. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than squishing your hopes, Jaklin." Didus replied evenly with a smirk of his own.

Jaklin let out a bitter laugh. " I see your stupidity has remained intact even after your exile."

Eliza frowned in confusion and looked briefly at the back of her father's head. Exile?

Didus immediately tensed and growled, " You'd better leave. You won't be getting what you want today"

The silver haired man simply sneered and looked directly at Eliza. The look he gave her sent chills down her spine. But she met his gaze with a glare of her own.

" Oh but I intend to, " he said before flicking his wrist. That small action made the rod grow in size and in just seconds, he was holding a spear. Pretty soon, all of them were holding Spears and staring at Didus, waiting for him to make the first move.

Narsun finished his incarnation and waited for the Portal to open anxiously. He was aware of what was going on behind him but he kept his eyes fixed on the Portal. Slowly but surely, The bright blue edges were spreading further into the middle until the whole Portal was a bright blue. It was open. He immediately whirled around with his own sword and took a defensive position beside Didus, the both of them effectively hiding Eliza. He knew it was almost impossible to escape as the Portal could only be opened for 15 minutes and they were outnumbered.

" Two against Five. Anyone can see that this is a hopeless battle Didus. Let's not waste both our times now. Just hand her over and we might show you some mercy, " Jaklin chuckled. His companions too chuckled at their obvious victory.

" Thanks, but no thanks Grandpa, " Narsun sneered. He was a little disappointed when Jaklin simply shook his head and they marched forward with the tips of their Spears pointing at the three of them.

" Narsun ,take her and go. I'll hold them off as much as I can," Didus whispered lowly so that the brunette hidden behind them couldn't hear.

" You'll be killed "

" I don't care, it's not like I can come with you any ways," Didus whispered gravely giving him a side glance.

Narsun seldom felt sad but now he did. For Didus. But he knew he couldn't do anything about it. He also knew he was jeopardizing his mission by staying and helping him instead of taking Eliza to safety but he couldn't leave him. Eliza would never forgive him if he did. He instinctively pushed Eliza back a little when they were just a few feet away, " Stay back and if any one comes near you shoot them, " he said handing her a gun. He didn't hear what she said because the next thing he knew they were almost on them.

" Narsun wait - " Eliza tried to reach for his jacket but he was suddenly sprinting forward and soon he was circled by three of them. She watched
helplessly as Narsun battled with three of them while the two men in suits were dodging the bullets her father was firing at them.

Whenever one of the men battling Narsun tried to come towards her, he immediately struck at them . Even though, she was panicking, she couldn't help but admiring how graceful he fought with the sword. His reflexes were impossibly fast.

But he wasn't the only one with fast reflexes, she watched in disbelief as Jaklin and his partner deflected the bullets by their spears while still advancing towards her father. They seemed in no hurry. And none of them were paying any attention to her.

She reloaded her gun and waited. There was nothing much she could do. Some part of her knew that her self defense moves weren't going to be enough. She glanced around helplessly and that's when she turned back to see that the Portal was shimmering. A few more minutes and she was sure it would close.

She turned back just in time to see Jaklin shoot out something from his spear and the next second, her father was on the ground with a pained cry.

" Dad! " she shouted and stepped forward but Narsun shouted at her to stay where she was. She looked over at him just in time to see one of the three circling him jab the spear into his back. She let out a gasp but Narsun quickly recovered and continued fighting.

" You have clearly become accustomed to the human life Didus, you even use their weapons," Jaklin said with distaste as he hit him with the spear again. Didus sneered at him, struggling to stay conscious. As much as he wanted to use a sword, he couldn't do it.

Rage filled through Eliza and before she could understand what she was doing, she aimed her gun at Jaklin and shot. Since he wasn't paying any attention to her, it hit him in the arm and to her satisfaction, he cried out and turned towards her with disbelief in his eyes. But he wasn't the only one who turned, all the fighting ceased and all eyes were on her.

" You will pay for that girl," he said with so much venom in his voice that Eliza couldn't help but flinch. But she was glad his attention was on him rather than on her father.

Narsun took the momentary distraction to his advantage as he knocked one of the men out cold. He muttered an incantation under his breath at the other two so that their spears burned in their hands. Knowing, the spell would only last a few seconds, he finished them off and ran as fast as he could towards Eliza.

Jaklin motioned his partner to take care of Didus while he made his way towards her. He dodged the bullets she was desperately firing at him. When he was just a few feet away from her, someone slammed into him and knocked him to the ground. He narrowly missed the sword which came down on him.

Eliza didn't pay attention to Narsun who was tackling Jaklin on the ground. Instead her attention was focused on the man who was torturing her father. Anger rose within her and she aimed her gun towards him only to find that there were no more bullets left. She threw her gun on the ground and shuffled through the duffel bag to find another one. Instead of a gun however, she found herself reaching for a sword. She immediately picked one up without much thought and made her way to her father, glancing once in Narsun's direction who looked like he was struggling to keep up the fight.

As soon as the man saw her coming however, he shot something which looked like a bolt of electricity towards her. She felt intense pain all over her body as the breath was knocked out of her lungs as her sword clattered to the floor. She fell to the ground writhing in pain and crawled into a fetal position. She blinked her eyes rapidly to clear the black spots dancing in her vision. She distantly heard Narsun calling her name. She was suddenly yanked up by a pair of strong arms and found the tip of a spear pointed at her throat.

" Trying to brave are we? " he said chuckling bitterly, " you have no idea what you're up against little princess. Don't worry though, we won't kill you. Not yet anyway. But the same cannot be said for your companions. "

Even though she was struggling to stand upright, Eliza was suddenly attentive at his words. The thought that they would kill her father or Narsun was enough for her anger to rise again. She glanced once at her father to see that he was out cold.

With barely contained fury, she grabbed the tip that was at the base of her throat with her hand. She had no idea how she managed to do it but it took all of her willpower to not let go of it as it burned her palm. Surprise covered the man's features as he seemingly struggled to tug away the spear from her.

" How are you doing that? It's supposed to burn you," he said in a voice, barely above a whisper.

It burned alright. The pain was so intense that she was sure her palm would suffer a third degree burn. But all she was focused on was the man in front of her and how she wanted to torture him for even thinking of harming her father. She felt a little tug in her stomach as if some force was waiting to be released.

She barely blinked when he suddenly fell on his knees and cried out clutching at his head. He shouted at her to stop but she didn't understand what she was doing. She wasn't even touching him. She watched as the man cried out in pure agony, tears streaming down his face, begging her to stop.

" Eliza ! Stop ! " Narsun shouted in horror as he saw the scene. Jaklin, who was still beneath him tensed as he saw the murderous expression on Eliza's face. Narsun immediately knocked him hard on the head, making him lose consciousness. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the men he knocked out cold, picking themselves up but they seemed transfixed in horror to even fight.

Eliza didn't even register Narsun as he came from behind her and plucked the spear away from her. She snapped to her senses when he began dragging her away from the man. She watched as the man collapsed on the ground, barely breathing. She suddenly felt very light and Narsun was the only one who was keeping her upright.

" Wait ! What about Dad ?! " she managed to croak out.

" We have to go. I'm sorry," Narsun said still dragging her away. They were almost at the Portal and none of the men who just gained conscious seemed eager to stop them. They clearly witnessed what Eliza was capable of. Instead, one of the men revved up the engine while the other two went to help up Jaklin and the other man.

" NO ! Let go ! We have to take him with us ! What are you doing?! " she shouted hoarsely. Tears welled up in her eyes as she stared at her father's unconscious body. She heard an incessant hum behind her and turned slightly to see that they were a feet away from the portal. She struggled against him with all her might but none of the power she mustered before seemed to come to her.

The last thing she saw before being dragged into the Portal was her father being towed away into the car along with the remaining two.
