you deny that you need to rid yourself of ghosts

If Josh's goofy grin wasn't a yes to Tyler asking him to be his boyfriend, him pinning Tyler to the mattress in his apartment in order to "return the favor" as he called it, was definitely confirmation. Tyler didn't know what to do or how to keep it going because they had taken their shakes to-go and he could vaguely see them melting on the window sill, but he was so far in nirvana he couldn't care less.
He thought he would rip our Josh's hair, he was gripping it so hard, but Josh was having as much of a good time as he was. Tyler forgot that one small fact about Josh; he liked getting his hair pulled.
"Holy shit," was all Tyler could get out afterwards. Josh's shirt was hanging from the door knob that they barely managed to close. Tyler had his shirt on, but his pants and boxers were pushed down off his ankles and laid on the kitchen floor, along with Josh's jeans and their jackets and shoes.
"Holy shit is right."
Tyler leaned his head against the wall, trying to breath normally. Josh sat on top of his lap, lazily kissing the side of Tyler's neck with his arms hanging limply around his waist.
"How come we didn't do this earlier?"
Josh chuckled. "Because every time we got close, we were cockblocked by Matty Healy."
"Oh, yeah."
It felt weird being half naked in front of someone who he used to be best friends with. Even now, when Josh still had a sure fire chance of dying, Tyler felt something that he hadn't felt in years.
Hope.
He didn't know if it was because of the small yet significant changes in his life or the fact that the dorkiest, sweetest, and greatest person he'd ever met was lying on his lap while they were both half naked and post blow job.
Tyler stifled a small chuckle, causing Josh to look up. "What? Got someone on your mind?" Josh traced the small x tattoo in the crook of Tyler's arm, sending a small shiver down his spine.
"You bet."
Josh kissed Tyler's jaw. "Was that okay?"
"That was better than okay," Tyler replied. "Your hair pulling kink is still weird, though."
"I'll fight you for that," Josh teased, adjusting him and Tyler's positions so they both lied flat across the futon, Josh crushing Tyler's dick.
"Ow." Tyler reached over and grabbed his boxers from under the futon, shimmying them on with no help from Josh. "We still have other places to go."
Josh buried his face in Tyler's chest. "Mhm."
"Like the Blue Neighborhood."
"Yup."
"And the Hopeless Fountain Cemetery."
Josh sighed and sat up on his elbows, gazing up at Tyler. He pecked Tyler's nose and lied back down. "Later."
When Josh said later, he really meant after a three hour nap neither of them meant to have but were too exhausted to prevent. And just like last time, Tyler woke up to a phone ringing.
He lifted his hips in attempt to grab his phone from under him, but he realized it wasn't him when Josh answered.
"H'llo?" He mumbled, his voice groggy.
A female voice rang through the receiver, yelling at the top of her lungs. Josh held the phone away, flinching. "Jesus, Ash, slow down."
"What's up?" Tyler mouthed.
Josh shrugged, cupping the phone and holding it away from him. "She was supposed on a trip to Washington with my parents."
He put the phone back to ear. "Okay, now tell me what happened."
Josh's whole body went rigid, his shoulders hunching and the muscles on his back tensing. "No. Absolutely fucking not. Ash, you've seen the way they treat me. It's worse now than when they first got married. Yes, I know it's not my fault and that you guys love me. No, I don't give a shit what they think of me. Well, forgive me for wanting to protect my already diminished mental health. Ask Jesse to go with you, then!"
Josh groaned and rubbed his eyes. "Fine, but only if Tyler can come. Okay, thanks. Tell me where you guys are and I'll see if I can make it."
He hung up and rolled off Tyler, stretching out his back.
"Jesus, I can't even get laid without being interrupted."
Tyler sat up, watching Josh collect his clothes and get dressed. "What happened?"
"Ashley wants you and me to come on the road trip with them," he said.
"Yikes."
Josh scoffed and grabbed his car keys. "Yeah. I don't want to be alone with my parents and my instigative bipolar sister, so I kind of told her you were coming."
Tyler stood and grabbed his jeans, slipping them on but not bothering to buckle his belt. He reached for his coat that was draped over the futon. "When do we leave?"
Josh kissed Tyler's cheek, grabbing his sneakers at the door and nearly running into the door on his way out.
"You're too good for me, you know," he said, pausing in the doorway.
Tyler rolled his eyes as he pulled on his socks and boots. "Please, I tried to fight you senior year. I think we're both very bad for each other."
That, of course, was the biggest lie he'd ever said.
They made their way to Josh's car, Josh starting it and then stopping only to slam his face into the steering wheel.
"What am I doing? We still have two more stops, and you need to pack clothes," he said.
"Oh shit, you're right." Tyler glanced at the time on the radio. "Uh- how about you go to your apartment and pack and I'll pack here and then you come pick me up in like an hour?"
Josh nodded, leaning over to kiss Tyler. "I'm still taking you on that date, just so you know."
Tyler opened the door and kissed Josh back.
"I'm counting on it."
