CHAPTER 11

In the Underground. Nerath was in her office watching through a holographic screen ( Polaris ordered the skeletons build a huge holographic computer) in various parts of Ninjago how her people proceeded.

She had her hands tucked behind her back, upright with her chin raised high. Nerath may be the most powerful necromancer the world knows, but until her dragon, the Red Death, is ready for battle, she doesn't leave the Underground.

The skeleton army kept supplying new weapons, members and preparing the deadly dragons and their killing-sleeping venom for special soaked arrows.

Suddenly Destio entered her room with a smirk as mad as ever. Nerath looked at her out of the corner of her eye. - What is it, Destio?

- My queen, Polaris has returned from his hunt for the mortal traitor. - she announced, slightly inclining her head in a bow. - Not alone.

A satisfied little smirk appeared on Nerath's lips, painted with black lipstick. She turned fully to her monstrous witch with a sly gleam in her eye. - Is he here now?

- Yes, and he brought the prisoners! A human woman and a young boy.... The family of that mortal with whom he made a deal on the Surface.

- Excellent. Lead me to them, now.

- Yes, my queen. Follow me.

The monstrous witch and the Queen of Nightmares quickly passed through the hidden base of the Underworld to the dungeons, where both the Descendants of the Elements and the Polaris prisoners themselves were kept.

- Polaris, my companion. I see the hunt has paid off lavishly for you. - Nerath announced with her hands tucked into the sleeves of her black robe.

Polaris straightened up proudly, stretching his neck, and his head shook uncontrollably again, making a distorted sound. - That's right, my queen. Let me introduce you to Barbara Lake and her son Jim. This is the traitor's family.

Nerath furrowed slightly. - I see only a woman here. Where is the kid?

Polaris looked out of the corner of his eye at a shaken Barbara, who had the look of wanting to scream, but something blocked her speech. Polaris's silencing spell. Basilisk licked his lips and a sadistic smile appeared on his lips. Nerath raised her eyebrows slightly, before her gaze fell on Destio, who chuckled wildly amused, looking at Polaris's figure from top to bottom.

- Where is this woman's son? - Nerath questioned her servant. Destio looked at the queen, trying to hold back a fit of laughter, and nodded at the figure of Polaris.

Nerath furrowed again in consternation and looked at the Death Eater, who was looking at Barbara, then at Nerath with a smile on his face. Then the queen's eyes shifted to Polaris's belly, which was moving slightly.

Nerath's eyes widened slightly and an amused smirk slowly appeared on her lips. After a moment, her shoulders began to bounce slightly as she began to giggle mischievously. She laughed out loud, clearly amused.

- Did you eat him!?

Destio burst out laughing, as did her queen at the terrible fate of the mortal who ended up in Polaris's belly. Polaris allowed himself an amused laugh as well. As if this horrible, disgusting act was something very funny. Barbara looked at them with the most hateful look she could afford.

- This is so mean! - Nerath called out through dark laughter. - Amazing! This is probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my existence! It's so... ridiculously pathetic! - her laughter slowly subsided and a menacing, cold aura enveloped her again.

- Is this mortal alive? Did you let your guts digest him? - she spat at Polaris, whose smile didn't disappear for a moment.

- No, my queen. He's healthy. I mean, as long as he still has oxygen in there. The only thing I heard before my "punishment" was a pathetic gasp of fear.... These mortals are really pathetic sometimes. - Polaris spat with contempt.

Destio sent him a malicious smirk. - And yet from you smell blood a kilometer away and even more! You got hit from mortals, didn't you? - she laughed mockingly.

Nerath shifted her gaze from Destio to Polaris and sent him a chastising look. - Death Eater you are. You shouldn't have lost to this pathetic scum, who call themselves humans.

Polaris nodded and a bitter expression appeared on his face. - I realize this, but.... They approached me from behind. But no need to worry, I dealt with them as expected.

- That doesn't protect you from this. A real Death Eater wouldn't let himself be approached by mortals. - Destio spat.

Polaris sent her a deadly look, but said nothing. Nerath raised her hand, silencing the argument between the two, and approached the human woman.

- So, you're the infamous Barbara Lake, huh? Well... you're no different from your people, all equally pathetic. - she spat with a deadly look. - Your spawn ended up as a take-out snack for my Death Eater. And now.... you are at my mercy.

Barbara looked at the dark queen with fear mixed with anger as she was forced to kneel before her. Nerath looked at Polaris. - Do what you want with them. Your victims, you manage how they die. Let them end up where they belong.

Polaris nodded and his body twitched uncontrollably, the hook on his back flapping forward almost like animatronic, before returning to its place. - It will be my pleasure, dear lady. I have a punishment already worked out for them. I promise they will be dead in two hours.

Barbara's eyes widened to the limit and she began to flinch, but Polaris only tightened his grip on her body, driving his claws into her flesh. He licked his lips again and blinked twice with his one eye.

Nerath nodded and her face went blank. - Let it happen. Good luck, Harbinger of Doom. Destio, follow me, you will report to me on the training of my new unit.

Destio nodded and with one last frantic look at the woman, she turned around and like an loyal dog followed the Queen of Nightmares. Barbara glanced at Polaris, who was already looking at her.

- I promise you that this death will be.... not as painful as I promised you at the beginning. However, someone must pay the guilt for your husband, who betrayed me. And traitors, they end up dead. Including their loved ones. Without exception.

With that, Polaris brutally lifted Barbara off the ground, who still tried to fight back, but only received a wound from the claws of her tormentor. Basilisk's eyes darted to the targets with the trapped teenagers and a dangerous idea popped into his head.

- I think, the public execution will be more satisfying. Let this Pythor's spawn have a foretaste of what will happen to them when I face him. - He announced to himself and began approaching the cages.

Polaris is getting darker by the day, I'm getting darker. Now... Barbara and Jim Lake will meet their fate, suffering for the actions of their adoptive father and fiancé.
