CHAPTER 5

(Val POV)

I walk into the boys' room to find Carlos playing a game on the TV. Jay is over by his bed where he is taking things out of his pockets and setting them on his bed.

"Always stealing, aren't we Jay?" I say as I sneak up behind him and make him jump.

"Ah!" Jay calls out. "Warn a guy would you? What are you doing here anyway?"

"Well, for starters our room was way too pink and bright. Secondly, I wanted to see how terrible your room was but it's not that terrible," I answer as I make my way around Jay and sitting on his bed with a smirk as I pick up a bracelet from his stash. "Nice findings though."

"Thanks," Jay says also smirking. "You can keep it." He points at the bracelet. I give him an actual smile.

"Val, come check this out," Carlos says gaining my attention. I slide the bracelet on before trying out the game that is actually a lot of fun. After a while, I give the controllers back to Carlos before going and sitting on Jay's bed again.

(Jay POV)

As I'm going through all the things that I had stolen, I look to where Val is sitting and find that she has fallen asleep. Man, she is adorable when she sleeps. Well, that's sounded creepy, wait did I just call her adorable?

"Whoo! Whoa! Ah! Whoa!" Carlos calls out as he plays the game and breaks me from my train of thought. I then hear the door open before Mal and Evie enters.

"Jay, what are you doing?" Mal asks as she and Evie walk over. I notice that Val wakes and sits up.

"It's called stealing," I answer her.

"Okay, what's the point?" Mal asks.

"Well, Mal, It's like buying whatever I want, except it's free," I answer her as I pull out a laptop.

"Okay. So, you could do that, or you could leave all of this here and pick it up when we take over the world," Mal explains.

"You sound just like mom," Val states with an eye roll.

"Thank you," Mal says.

"You do it your way and I'll do it mine," I tell her.

"Die, suckers! Jay, come check this thing out," Carlos says as he turns away from the game. I walk over and grab the controllers.

"Man, It's awesome," I say as I start playing.

"Guys! Do I have to remind you what we're all here for?" Mal asks.

"Fairy godmother, blah, blah, blah. Magic wand, blah, blah, blah," I say which makes everyone laugh besides Mal.

"This is our one chance to prove ourselves to our parents," Val says which makes everyone stop and look to her and Mal.

"To prove that we are evil and vicious and ruthless and cruel. Yeah?" Mal continues. I always found it creepy how they finished each other's sentences or said the same thing at the same time but I guess it's from being twins.

"Yeah," Carlos agrees.

"Evie, mirror me," Mal says as they go sit down at the table and everyone else stands around them.

"Mirror, mirror on the..." Evie begins but stops once she realizes her mistake. "in my hand, where is fairy godmother's wand... stand?" The mirror then shows the wand.

"There it is!" Val says.

"Zoom out," Carlos tells Evie as he opens up a laptop.

"Magic mirror, not so close," Evie orders and the mirror zooms way out. "Closer. Closer. Closer."

"Can I go back to my game? I'm on level three," Carlos asks.

"Stop!" I call out when I see a sign.

"It's in a museum," Mal says.

"Do we know where that is?" Val asks and Carlos starts typing on the laptop.

"2.3 Miles from here," Carlos answers. Mal goes to see if the coast is clear and Val throws me my vest.

"Come on," Mal calls out. She leaves the room followed by Val and me. Evie follows us and Val turns to see is Carlos followed.

"Carlos!" Val calls to him.

"Coming!" Carlos calls as he runs after us.

(Val POV)

"Come on," Mal says once we get near the museum.

"Check your mirror," I tell Evie.

"Is my mascara smudged?" Evie asks in panic.

"Yeah. And, hey, while you're at it, why don't you see if you can find us the wand?" Mal says rudely.

"Sure. This way," Evie says and she leads us to a pair of doors. We peer inside and see a guard that is looking at some computers. He goes to turn in our direction and we all duck. We look back inside and notice Maleficent's spinning wheel.

"That's your mother's spinning wheel?" Jay asks while he and Carlos laugh. I slap Jay's chest making him stop laughing.

"Yeah, it's kinda dorky," Carlos says.

"It's magic. It doesn't have to look scary," I explain. Mal pulls out the spell book and finds a spell.

"'Magic spindle, do not linger. Make my victim prick a finger.'" Mal reads and nothing happens.

"Impressive," Jay states and I roll my eyes.

"I got chills," Carlos says as he raises his arm.

"Okay, you know what?" I ask as I take the book from Mal. "'Prick the finger, prick it deep. Send my enemy off to sleep.'" The guard stands before pricking his finger and lying down to go to sleep.

"Not so dorky now, huh?" Mal asks as she takes the book back. I try to open the door but it's locked. Mal finds another spell.

"Stand back," Jay says as he sends me a wink and backs away.

"'Make it easy, make it quick, open up without a kick.'" Mal reads and the doors fly open.

"Ahh!" Jay yells as he jumps to kick the doors open but they are already open which make him fall to the ground. Mal and I laugh at him.

"Coming?" I ask him as Mal and I walk past. I also ruffle his beanie as I pass.

"Come on, Jay," Carlos says as he tries to help Jay up but Jay shoves him away.

"I'm good," Jay says before walking away.

"Just trying to help," Carlos says before following after.

"Shh," Mal says as we walk around the guard. The rest of us take off but once again Carlos is not with us.

"Carlos!" I call to him.

"Coming," He says before catching up to us.

"So close. Upstairs," Evie says as she follows her mirror.

"Come on. Go, go, go, go. Up, up, up, up, up," Mal orders us all up the stairs before she follows us. We then come across a room that has all of our parents in it.

"Mommy?" Evie asks as she looks at the Evil Queen.

"Killer," Jay says as he looks at Jafar.

"I will never forget mother's day again," Carlos states as he looks at Cruella. Maleficent looks creepy as ever and I feel myself gulp.

"Well, the wand's not here," Jay says as he looks at me before turning to everyone else. "Let's bounce. Let's go." We all follow after him or so we thought but Mal hadn't followed. We then find the wand and Evie goes back to get Mal.

"Here it is," Evie says as she and Mal enter the room. The wand is on the floor below us.

"Whoo!" Jay yells before he takes off to the lower floor with me right behind him. The others soon follow. Jay circles the wand. I notice there is some kind of magic barrier.

"Jay, don't!" I tell him as he goes to go under the metal barrier to grab the wand. He just smirks at me and goes under anyway. "Wait, no! No! Don't!" Jay goes to grab the wand but the magic barrier throws him back and a loud siren goes off.

"Ah!" Mal yells and covers her ears.

"A force field and a siren?" Carlos asks as he covers his ears.

"That's just a little excessive," Jay says as he sits up. I grab Jay's hand and help him up.

"Let's go!" Mal says as she turns and runs. I don't let go of Jay's hand and we run after the others. "Hurry." We run down the stairs and Jay gets in front of me but doesn't let go of my hand.

"Hello? Uh, uh, just give me one second. One second. Uh, yeah, yeah. No, false alarm. It was a malfunction in the, uh, I'm 714 chip in the breadboard circuit. Yeah. Okay. Say hi to the missus," Carlos says as he talks on the phone and the alarm goes off.

"Carlos!" I call and he runs after us.

"You're welcome," he says.

"Way to go, Jay. Now we have to go to school tomorrow," Mal says as we run back to the dorms. Mal and Evie go straight to our room and Carlos to his.

"Guess I'll see you in the morning," I say to Jay as I go to go in my room but realize our hands are still together.

"Oh, sorry," We say at the same time and release each other. I feel a blush come to my face.

"Goodnight," I say before running into my room that I share with Evie and Mal.
