CHAPTER 21

(Jay POV)

"Jay, keys. Remote," Ben says as we run down the stairs to the limo. He tosses me the keys and remote.

"Wait! Something's wrong," Evie says stopping us. Evie then fixes Ben's beanie. "There."

"Shotgun!" Dude then says and we all look at Carlos confused.

"No, Dude. Stay. The Isle is way too dangerous," Carlos orders and Dude hangs his head.

"Did he just..." I start still completely shocked and confused.

"Talk? Yeah. I know. Tell you later," Carlos says before walking to the limo.

"Let's go," Ben says.

"Yeah," Evie agrees. Ben and Evie get in the back while Carlos and I get in the front. "Okay, once we cross the bridge, park under the pier in the old garage. Got it?"

"Got it," I answer since I'm driving. I quickly drive us over to the Isle of the Lost over the magic bridge. I get to where Evie told me to go before stopping the car and hopping out. All I want to do is find Val and get her to come back after telling her how I feel. The others quickly get out of the car.

"Ben, help me with the tarp," Carlos says as they go grab a tarp. "Jay?"

"Yeah?" I say as Carlos throws me one end of the tarp. Evie and I start spreading it out it out on our side while Ben and Carlos do the same. "I got it." I take over for Evie while she looks out in the distance.

"It's really weird being back here," Evie says.

"We'll get in and get them out," I state.

"Jay!" Carlos calls before throwing me the second tarp and we do the same thing. Ben walks over to a big pipe.

"Hey, what's in here?" Ben asks.

"Ben!" Carlos says as we all run over to Ben.

"You don't want to know," I say as I turn Ben away from the pipe.

"Hey, guys. Keep it chill, all right? The last thing we need is our parents figuring out we're here," Carlos says before we take off to find Val and Mal.

"Hey! Hey! Stop," We hear Evie say and we turn to see that she has a hold on two kids. "Just take it. Go on." Evie lets them take her wallet. "Ugh. Ben." We turn to see Ben gone. "Ben, stop. Just stop." We find Ben trying to talk to a pirate.

"Hey, man!" Carlos says standing up to the pirate.

"Why?" Ben asks.

"This isn't a parade. It's the Isle." Evie answers.

"Keep your hands in your pockets unless you're stealing," I explain.

"You either slouch or strut," Carlos adds.

"And never, ever smile," Evie orders.

"Okay, thanks," Ben says.

"No! No 'thank you's,' and drop the 'please,' too. Just...chill," Evie explains.

Watch and learn so you can get it right" Evie starts to sing as she walks over to Carlos and me. We cross our arms before we line up in a line with Ben behind us.

"You need to drag your feet

You need to not care" We all sing as we drag our feet, we nod our heads and we lean back. Ben tries to join in. Carlos and I slide on the floor.

"Uh, you need to not stare," Carlos sings as he turns Ben's head. I steal Ben's wallet.

"You need a whole lotta help" We all sing as I smile and go through Ben's wallet.

"You need to not be yourself," Evie sings and Ben notices that I have his wallet. He then grabs it back.

And once you catch this feeling" Evie sings while dancing in front of Ben. Carlos and I dance on either side of Ben.

Hey!" We all walk around until we're in front of a fence.

"A villain" We sing as a guy comes up and opens his coat showing off a lot of trinkets. Ben grabs one and then goes to grab his wallet, but Evie pulls him back.

"You draw attention when you act like that

Let us teach you how to disappear

You look like you would lose a fight to an alley cat

You gotta be wrong to get it right 'round here" Evie sings as her, Carlos, and I get on top of the fence and squat down.

"You need to watch your back

You need to slide real smooth" We all sing as we dance on the fence. Ben tries to join in on the ground but slides into a bucker making a lot of noise.

"Don't make a sound" We sing as we jump off of the fence.

"And if you want it, take it" We sing as we climb through the fence.

"And you can't take it, break it" We sing as Carlos and I spin will bending our knees. Ben tries to do it and falls but Carlos picks him up.

Seriously, you need to not be yourself.

Chillin' like" We sing as we hop off the fence and start dancing. Ben joins and actually gets it.

"I really wanna be bad a lot" Ben sings as he gives me a bro hug.

But it's hard being what I'm not" Ben sings as he wraps his arms around Evie and Carlos.

"Well, if you don't you're gonna get us caught," Carlos says.

"He's right, we gotta stay low-key

Now show us how bad you can be" Evie sings.

"Like this?" Ben asks as he puts on Evie's sunglasses before holding up my wallet which I snatch back.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" Evie sings.

"Like this?" Ben asks as he also holds up Carlos' phone which he grabs back.

"Oh, yeah, I think I got this.

Let's go, I'm ready to rock this.

I think I found the worst in myself" Ben sings which makes us smile.

Hey!" We all sing before Ben walks ahead.

"Chillin' like a villain" Ben sings and we clap for him.

"Hey, man. Hey! Hey, I know you!" Gil, son of Gaston, says as he bumps into Ben. We all catch up to Ben.

"Uh, no. Don't know you, either, man," Ben says trying to play it off.

"Uh, yeah, you do. Come on, man. Really? Huh? Dude, I'll give you a hint. My dad is quick, slick and his neck is incredibly thick. Come on, man. I kn..." Gil explains before trailing off as he sees a poster behind us. "Huh? Huh. Huh? Huh." Gil points as the poster and Ben a couple of times. "Oh! You're King Ben!"

"Okay, let's go," Evie says as we go to drag Ben away.

"Yeah, yeah, you totally are King Ben, and you're J-Jay, Carlos, Evie. Hey, guys," Gil says as we hurry away from him.
