Taeyong kept ahold of Adryn's hand as he brought her all the way through the house, and to the backdoor that she didn't even know was there. They left the house and entered the fenced-in backyard. Taeyong didn't stop there, he took her to a fairly large greenhouse. He opened up the door and a wave of smells hit Adryn.
"This is where I come to when I'm stressed out and need a break," Taeyong explained as Adryn took some steps into the greenhouse. From the front all the way to the back, Adryn only saw roses. There were all different types and colors, but they were all roses. Big and small, beautiful and strange. It was brilliant to Adryn.
"Who grew all of these?" Adryn finally spoke up in awe. She turned to see Taeyong closing the door with a smile on his face.
"I did. With the help of a few other members." Taeyong stated simply as he turned to face Adryn. "I want to spend time with you and get to know you better while we relax in one of my favorite places to be." Taeyong took a hold of her hand again and guided her to the middle of the greenhouse. There was an open area that held a table and some chairs. It was a cute little sitting area and on that table held a tray with little snacks and tea. "We'll be here a while, so I figured that we could snack and have some tea at some point."
"Thank you. Taeil and I had arrived at the kitchen to actually have a snack. So this works out perfectly." To Adryn's words, Taeyong chuckled and gave her a smile as they sat down at the table.
"Enjoy the snacks and tea then. I want you to relax a bit before we start to talk about personal stuff." At Taeyong's words, they began to snack and drink their tea. However, Taeyong noticed that Adryn made a disgusted face whenever she took a sip of tea. "Is the tea alright?"
"Oh! Yeah, it's fine..."
"No, really. What is wrong?"
"I... I don't like tea much. I prefer coffee actually. I'm sorry..." Adryn muttered to Taeyong as she looked down at her teacup. Taeyong nodded his head in understanding.
"I'll remember that for our next date."
"Huh? Date? Is this a date?"
"Since I can't take you out on a public date, for the sake of our safety, I thought this would be a good date. I can bring you here for dates, so yes, this is a date... I just forgot to tell you." Taeyong was a little hesitant about admitting that. Adryn couldn't help but chuckle at his nervousness. It was like he thought that Adryn would reject him or something.
"Any time we spend together is a great time. We can make it a date, and just hanging out can be a date as well. It doesn't have to be fancy or anything too special." Adryn smiled at Taeyong before continuing. "I'd prefer to not go out anyway, I don't want to be around too many people at once."
"I'll keep that in mind as well. You get to plan our next date though. We'll go back and forth with planning dates, so we both get to choose."
"Alright, sounds good." Adryn smiled at Taeyong before turning back to the snacks. She nibbled on some more food before looking at the man, who was just watching her. "Alright, I'm ready for the questioning to begin!"
"Why did you seem like you were going to cry during our argument before? Was it because of the heated moment or how things were said? Or did I actually hurt you with my anger?"
"Some things you said were hurtful, but that's how I usually handle arguments and yelling around me." Adryn's explanation clearly needed to be explained more "Growing up, my father got angry over every little thing, he always yelled and cussed for no real reason. He never got violent with me, but I was always scared that I'd do something wrong and get him angry with me. My fears progressed into me crying at every little confrontation I had because I was so scared of everyone's reactions. It didn't help when my mother came home from work and complained about every little thing that I did, instead of praising me for the good things I'd actually done. It was like nothing was enough for my parents so my default reaction became to cry due to any raised voices or harsh words."
"...Adryn, I'm sorry..." Taeyong wasn't exactly what to say to the woman, but he understood better now how he'd truly hurt her and brought up horrible memories for her. "I'll do my best to not yell around you again. I'll most definitely not yell at you anymore or use any harsh words toward you."
"Thank you, but you don't need to silence yourself or hold back if I've done something wrong. Maybe start off with kind words and calmness instead of attacking me like before."
"Again, I'm so sorry."
"It's alright. I only reacted that way due to past experiences with people."
"Have you dated anyone who's caused your trauma as well?"
"There's been a few people who have treated me horribly, but it was my own fault for dating them in the first place."
"You don't deserve any negativity that comes your way. I'll do my best to protect you from the horrible people of the world now."
"That's going a little too far, but a little protection is alright."
"I'll do my best."
"If you get to protect me, then I'll protect you as well." Adryn's words caused Taeyong to be a little surprised, but he eventually overcame that to smile at her.
"What are you planning on protecting me from?"
"Once I get stronger, we'll work together and protect each other, physically. In the meantime though, I'll protect your heart and emotional state by not causing you any stress." Adryn smiled at Taeyong as she spoke. It was a genuine smile and it lit up Taeyong's heart. He couldn't help but reach out and grab Adryn's hand before pulling it to his lips. He pressed a kiss onto Adryn's hand, bringing a blush to her face.
"Thank you, my love."
"This isn't something to thank me over. We're partners now and that's just part of being partners now."
"Partner..." Taeyong muttered to himself as he released her hand. Adryn watched as a smile came to Taeyong's face. "It's been a while since I thought of someone as my true equal and as a partner. It'll be a nice change for me."
"I'll try to be a good partner. I'll probably make mistakes, but I'll do my best to right them."
"That's all I can ask of you. I'll do the same for you as well." Taeyong smiled at Adryn, who smiled back at him. The two naturally felt themselves being drawn to the other. As they leaned in, they were getting ready to kiss each other and were feeling thrilled that it was coming so naturally to them.
"Eclipse and Taemin are here to visit you two." Doyoung's voice suddenly cut into Taeyong and Adryn's perfect moment. This made Taeyong frown right away. "Would you two love birds like to finish what was about to happen?" Adryn and Taeyong sat back down in their chairs and frowned at Doyoung.
"The moment is ruined now..." Taeyong mumbled to his friend as Doyoung nodded his head triumphantly. The man turned away from his leader and went to let in Eclipse and Taemin. After letting the couple in, Doyoung wandered off, uninterested in what the 4 were going to do.
Eclipse barreled right into Adryn, pulling the black-haired woman to her feet in the process. Adryn stiffened up, unhappy with the sudden human contact as Eclipse hugged her tightly.
"I've been worried about you! I've been texting and calling you all day! You haven't responded once!" Eclipse nearly yelled at Adryn, who pulled away from Eclipse to pull out her cell phone. There were way too many missed calls and texts from the pink-haired woman. Adryn also noticed that her phone was on do not disturb mode still.
"Sorry about that..." Adryn frowned at Eclipse before turning to smile at Taemin. "Hello, Taemin."
"Hello, Adryn," Taemin replied with a soft smile on his face. He turned to Taeyong then, with a neutral look suddenly there on Taemin's face. "Hello, Taeyong."
"We're friends, Taemin, we don't need to be polite with each other," Taeyong responded, unhappy about how formal Taemin suddenly was with him. He didn't like that the older man felt the need to be polite to him. It was just weird for Taeyong, despite being the leader of a gang.
"Alright," Taemin smiled at Taeyong. "It's nice to see you outside of business hours."
"I agree. Please, both of you sit down. Join us and eat and drink with us." Taeyong motioned for Eclipse and Taemin to sit down. The two sat down with Eclipse sitting next to Adryn and Taeyong, and Taemin next to Adryn and Taeyong. The lovers were all across from each other.
"Here, drink the tea," Adryn poured some tea for Eclipse and handed it to her. Eclipse drank a bit and was surprised.
"Even though it's a little cold, it's really good." Eclipse commented as she looked at her friend.
"Thank you, I made it myself before I found out that Adryn doesn't drink tea," Taeyong replied to the woman, surprising Eclipse further.
"There's probably a lot of things the two of you need to find out about each other."
"I agree, but this date is supposed to be us getting to know each other actually."
"Well, now this is a chance for the four of us to get to know each other better. Not just the two of you." Eclipse's voice clearly left no room for Taeyong or Adryn to argue with her. Taeyong just nodded his head and turned his attention to Adryn.
"Is it alright to talk about your past relationships? Your past seems to bother you a lot."
"My past relationships suck ass, but there is one woman who was clearly a soulmate of mine." Adryn's words of honesty brought a frown to Taeyong's face. "I'm pansexual, and I don't really see gender, I just see people's souls."
"Alright..." Taeyong was still frowning though.
"Everyone has multiple soulmates. Lysander was one of Adryn's. But that doesn't mean that you are or aren't one of hers as well, Taeyong." Eclipse explained simply to the frowning and clearly upset man. "What about your past relationships?"
"I haven't really dated much. I'm usually too busy with the gang affairs and the various day-to-day problems that come with me being their leader."
"Are you a virgin or not?"
"Eclipse! That's going too far!" Adryn defended Taeyong, but he challenged Eclipse by answering right away.
"I have experience but not much," Taeyong replied, ignoring Adryn's worry for him. Eclipse leaned back in her chair and shot Taeyong a look. It was a snarky look and clearly pissed Adryn off immediately, as she'd seen the look before.
"Just because you saved yourself for your soulmate, doesn't mean that anyone who doesn't is lesser than you are," Adryn muttered to Eclipse, who seemed shocked by her words. "I've got a little experience as well, but that doesn't make me less of a woman because I'm not a virgin anymore."
"People should wait for marriage for sex," Eclipse spoke in an arrogant voice, but Adryn wasn't having it.
"Everyone is in control of their own bodies. It isn't anyone else's business what they do with their bodies and nothing gives anyone the right to judge them based on anything they do with their body." Adryn's words obviously upset Eclipse, so Taemin spoke up next to calm his woman.
"Everyone has a right to their own opinion and feel how they feel." Taemin kindly spoke to Eclipse, making her nod her head, but not speak anything. So, with that part done and over with, Taeyong turned to Adryn to ask her another question.
"When is the last time you dated someone?" Taeyong asked Adryn, who looked right at him, ignoring Eclipse.
"It's been a few years?"
"Same for me." Taeyong nodded his head and went to speak, but Eclipse cut him off instantly.
"Can we go talk somewhere privately?" Eclipse asked Adryn as she stood up. Adryn merely nodded her head and walked off with Eclipse to the other side of the greenhouse. "What are your true feelings for that man?"
"I really care about Taeyong. I think I'm capable of falling in love with him soon if I can let my guard down long enough. He's truly a sweet and caring man, but it's more than that. Everything about him has drawn me in. his whole personality is something I'm growing to love. He's also a pretty good-looking man, so that helps out a bit. I really like being around him and he mostly gives off a good vibe." Adryn explained fully to Eclipse, letting all of her emotions out.
"You sound like you're getting more comfortable with each other. You aren't one to get attached like this anymore..."
"Well, I'm getting fairly attached to Taeyong and I really like him a lot. Not just the good sides of him though, I like all of him in total."
"...Alright..." Eclipse wasn't happy with it, but she nodded her head in understanding anyway. "Let's get back to the guys." They walked back to the chatting men, causing them to stop their conversation. "Taemin, we should get back now. We don't want to be late for dinner."
"Right." Taemin and Taeyong stood up in unison and watched as Adryn and Eclipse hugged each other.
"I'll check up on you later," Eclipse spoke to Adryn before turning away and walking off with Taemin. Taeyong waited until they were out of the greenhouse to turn and look at Adryn.
"Are you alright?"
"I'm alright. Despite the conversation going a little funky..."
"Right... Well, we don't want to be late for dinner either, so let's get going. This went on a little longer than expected." Taeyong took a hold of Adryn's hand, and the two went back into the main house. They weren't sure how things took such a weird turn with Eclipse and Taemin arriving, but they were glad that some things were now out in the open.
