Chapter Three: The Jenna Thing
At Apple Rosegrille
Ethan's Pov
After Alison's funeral, me and the girls decided to head to the grill to think about everything that happened today.
I sat in between Aria and Hanna. Spencer and Emily sitting across from us.
Not just Alison's body being found or her funeral. We're talking about the texts from this mysterious A person.
We ordered a few things to eat, not that much, considering we weren't that hungry.
Hanna was still drinking her soda, while the rest of us had finished what we had ordered.
"Why was Jenna there?" Aria asked.
"I guess she's back" Hanna shrugged.
"That cop acted like we were suspects or something" I scoffed, shaking my head while leaning back against my chair.
"Do you think we looked guilty?" Emily asked.
"Why would we? We haven't done anything wrong" Aria said.
"Except lie about the Jenna thing" Hanna scoffed.
"We promised we'd never bring up the Jenna thing again, remember? It never happened" Spencer said.
Me and Hanna rolled our eyes as she took out her phial of alcohol and started putting some in her drink.
"Have you found a way to forget? I still wake up sometimes in the middle of the night" Aria said.
I shook my head and gently placed my hand on her shoulder for comfort.
"Aria, it was an accident. I may not have been there that day, but I know that you girls would never do something like that on purpose" I softly reassured her.
She looked at me and just nodded, not convinced.
While Hanna was still putting some alcohol in her drink, she picked her head up and a fake smile appeared on her face.
"It's medicinal" Hanna said, but she didn't say it to us, she was saying it to someone else.
Me and the girls furrowed our eyebrow at her in confusion. I turned to see that she was talking to an old man.
When she saw his judging look, a look of annoyance washed through her face.
"Cramps" Hanna angrily snapped.
This made the man back off as he nodded and looked away from her.
I chuckled and raised my hand for a high-five, one she immediately returned.
"I don't get it. How does 'A' know something about me that only Alison knew?" Emily asked.
"Ali knew all of our secrets, but...we never knew any of hers" Aria said.
The girls nodded, while I bit my lip and played with my fingers. I'm debating if I should tell them or not.
I mean, even if she's not here physically, I promised Ali I'd never tell the girls.
Sighing in defeat, I looked at the girls, still playing with my fingers nervously.
"I knew some" I said.
The girls looked at me in shock and curiosity and leaned in more to learn more.
"Go on" Aria nodded, gesturing for me to continue.
"Talk, bubs" Hanna said.
I looked at all of them, bit my lip and shook my head. They all looked at me in disbelief and slight annoyance.
"Ethan! No, you are not gonna drop a bomb like that and just clam up!" Aria whisper yelled at me, the girls nodded in agreement.
"She's still kill me if I told you" I argued.
"Bubs, she's dead!" Hanna whisper yelled at me.
This made me and Emily winced. The girls looked uncomfortable too. Hanna realized her mistake and sighed, giving us an apologetic look.
Sighing in defeat, I just decided to tell them, knowing that they wouldn't let it go.
"Fine. Fine. Ali was seeing someone that summer" I said, running a hand through my hair.
Emily let out a small gasp and her eyes widen as she looked at me.
"I knew she was keeping something from me" Emily said.
We all gave her weird and curious looks, making Emily shake her head and brush some of her hair away from her face.
"From us" Emily corrected.
"Well, why didn't she want us to know?" Aria asked.
"He was an older boy, and he had a girlfriend" I shrugged.
"Who was it?" Emily asked.
"I don't know. She never told me his name" I said, grabbing my cup of soda and taking a sip, feeling dehydrated.
"Bubs, that's only half a secret" Hanna said in annoyance.
"At least it's something. And it's more than you ever got from her" Spencer defended, making me smile softly at her.
Hanna rolled her eyes as Aria sighed and shook her head.
"How is that Ali told us nothing, and we told her everything?" Aria asked.
"Except for me. I never had any secrets to hide, unlike you girls. No offense" I said, shrugging at the end.
"It's fine, Ethan. But, Ali made us feel like we were part of something special" Emily said with a small smile.
"We were" me and Hanna said, smiling at each other as we held hands.
"I miss that" Aria smiled, laying her head on my shoulder.
"Me too" Spencer nodded.
Emily sighed and looked down at her hand, a small sad smile appearing on her face.
"I miss Ali" Emily said.
I nodded, laying my head on top of Aria's head. I looked at Emily to see her playing with her bracelet.
It's a bracelet that Alison gave to all of us, as a reminder of our friendship.
"I can't believe you still wear that" Hanna said in slight disbelief.
"Ali still wears hers" Emily defended, shrugging at the end.
"Wore" I sighed sadly, shaking my head.
She looked at me and nodded, her expression just as sad as mine and the other girls.
"When Ali didn't come home that night, I knew something terrible must have happened, but there was always some part of me that imagined someday she'd just show up" Spencer explained.
We all looked at each other and nodded, small smiles appearing on our faces.
"Yeah. I used to think that maybe she'd just...run off with some guy" Aria scoffed.
"She was laying on a beach somewhere" I said and Emily nodded.
"Or getting a tan out by the pool with that hot lifeguard" Hanna dreamily smiled.
The girls all giggled, while I rolled my eyes at them and gagged. The cons of being best friends with all girls is that they always talk about their crushes.
Man, maybe I should make a few guy friends.
"Oh, yeah. What was his name?" Aria asked.
"Who cares? Save me!" Hanna smiled, pretending to be a damsel in distress.
This made all the girls laugh, and despite what they were talking about, I found myself laughing with them
But my laughter died down when I heard the door opening, along with a cane tapping. I turned around and my heart dropped when I saw Jenna walking in.
The girls realized that I was no longer laughing and soon their laughter died down too.
They turned around, only for disbelief and shock to wash over them as Jenna entered, walking over to an empty table.
We all looked at each other and nodded. I quickly took out my wallet and placed the money on top of the table. I stood up, gesturing for the girls to follow, and they did. We all stood up and left, being discreetly as we could.
Once we were outside, we waved at each other before going our separate ways.
I wrapped my arms around Spencer, her snuggling to my side as we continued waling, wanting nothing more then to just go home.
The Next Day
It was the next day and we were doing everything we could to try and take our mind off of yesterday.
I was with Spencer as she was playing golf while I was watching her.
Well, not really watching, I was getting a bit bored and just decided to look at my phone.
Though, it does scare me to look at my phone, knowing that this A person could just text me or the girls at any moment.
Sighing, I put my phone away and looked up, just in time to see Maya and Emily walking together while talking.
"Nice!" Emily yelled when she saw Spencer making the shot.
Spencer looked up and smiled when she saw them, I smiled at them and gave them a wave too.
"So I hear you're gunning for varsity Captain" Emily said and I nodded.
"Well, I have a shot, so" Spencer shrugged.
I scoffed and walked over to my twin, wrapping my arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer to my side.
"We're Hastings, sis. If a Hastings has a shot, we take the shot" I smirked.
Spencer chuckled and nodded, returning the smirk.
"Is that a drinking game?" Maya asked.
"Yeah, it should be" Spencer nodded, prompting laughs from all of us.
"Spencer, this is Maya. She's already met Ethan" Emily said, nodding at Maya.
"Oh" Spencer said, realization dawning on her as she gave the girl a slight look of pity, while I sighed.
"Yeah. New girl who moved into dead girl's house. Can't believe I just said that" Maya said, her eyes widening slightly when she realized what she said.
"Yeah, I can't believe you just said that either" I nodded, removing my arm from Spencer's shoulders.
"I think Brad Pitt and I are missing the same sensitivity chip" Maya said.
"It's fine. We're all trying to find a way to deal with it" Spencer said, earning nods from me and Emily.
"Maya and I are going for some caffeine. Do you guys want to join?" Emily asked.
"Oh, I'd kill for a latte, but, um...this is my only time to practice, so" Spencer said, shrugging at the end.
"I'll come. I need something to keep me awake" I said.
"Awesome" Maya smiled, Emily following her lead.
I walked over to the other side and grabbed my bag before walking back over to the girls. I placed my hands on Spencer's shoulders and kissed her forehead.
"See you at school" I said, making her smile and nod at me.
"We'll catch you later" Emily said.
All three of us walked away from Spencer, letting her continue practicing for golf.
"She's intense" Maya said, earning laughs from me and Emily.
"If you met our parents, you'd understand" I said, earning a nod of agreement from Emily and a small giggle from Maya.
At School
I walked through the hallways, talking to Sean, Hanna's boyfriend.
Me and him were great friends. When Hanna introduced me to him I slowly took a liking towards him. He's a good kid, friendly, fun and overall amazing.
But of course, I gave him the 'hurt my best friend and I'll kill you' talk. To show how protective I am over Hanna.
Not just her, but my sister and the other girls too.
"I spy a Hanna" I smiled, nodding towards Hanna, who was talking to Mona.
Sean looked at their direction and smiled. He looked at me and we did our small handshake.
"Talk to you later, man" Sean said.
"Talk later" I nodded and he walked away.
He and Hanna met in the middle, sliding their hands into each others and pecking each other on the lips before walking away.
I sighed and shook my head and walked over to my locker, that was near my sisters.
I opened it and took out the books that I needed. Once that was done, I shut it and that's when the bell rings.
Just before I could head to class, I stop when I hear the Principal talking on the speaker.
"Will the following students please come to the office. Emily Fields, Aria Montgomery, Spencer and Ethan Hastings and Hanna Marin" the Principal said.
The hallways are now cleared, everyone now in class, just leaving me and the girls alone.
We all look at each other, confused, before slowly walking towards each other. That's when I hear Aria's phone ring.
We think nothing of it at first and continue walking, before we stop when we notice Aria staring at her phone in shock.
"Wait. It's from A" Aria said.
We all huddle around her as Hanna looks down at her phone to read the message.
Dead girls and guy walking

At The Office
We were all in the office, the girls were all sitting on the couch while I was sitting on a nearby chair.
Detective Wilden was walking back and forth, a clipboard in his hands.
"So let's see...you thought you heard her scream?" Detective Wilden asked, looking at my sister.
"I-I said that, yeah" Spencer nodded, stuttering a little.
Detective Wilden nodded and looked at me and the girls.
"And when you four woke up in the barn, Alison was gone, and so was Spencer" Detective Wilden said.
"Yes, my sister woke up before them. And she realized that Ali was missing, so" I shrugged, trying not to show my annoyance.
"So she went looking for her" Detective Wilden said.
"That's what happened" Spencer nodded.
"I got that. So, what's up? Was this a slumber party, or?" Detective Wilden asked.
"Is this an interrogation?" Spencer asked in annoyance and nervousness.
"No, just a routine follow-up. Why did you guys all fall asleep?" Detective Wilden asked.
"I guess we were tired" Aria shrugged and I nodded.
"Tired? Really. Is that how you remember it, Hanna? Ethan?" Detective Wilden asked, looking at both of us.
"Yeah" Hanna nodded.
"It was late and we were having fun, it's understandable for us to be tired" I said, really trying to keep my annoyance in.
"Yeah, you guys were tired" Detective Wilden nodded.
"Look, we've told you everything we know, just like we did the night she went missing" Spencer said.
"I know, and you see, the thing is, it's almost exactly what you said last year. Almost like it was rehearsed" Detective Wilden said, giving all of us a suspicious look.
"Like Spencer said, we've told you everything we know" Aria said, earning nods from all of us.
At Lunch
When we were done talking with Detective Wilden, we carried on with our day as usual and got through our classes.
But when lunch time came and we all sat together, we immediately started talking about our talk with Detective Wilden.
"He knows we're lying" Aria said.
"Lying is not a crime" Hanna defended.
"It is when you're giving false statements to the police. It's called obstruction of justice, buttercup" I explained.
"Oh, please! We lied about drinking. But the truth that matters is we don't know anything about what happened to Ali that night" Hanna defended.
"We also know about someone who might have wanted to hurt her" Spencer retorted back.
I sighed and ran my hand through my hair, picking up a fry and taking a bite out of it.
"We should have told the police the truth about Jenna's accident the night it happened" Emily said.
"I wanted to, remember?" Hanna asked, a sarcastic smile on her face.
"But we didn't. And telling the police now about what happened to Jenna Isn't going to make her see again. It'll just ruin our lives" Spencer explained.
"All of us except for Ethan. He wasn't there that day. He didn't do anything but we did" Aria said.
I gave her a slight smile, before releasing a sad sigh and shook my head.
"I should've been there that day. I would've been able to stop Alison from doing what she did. Maybe things would've been slightly easier" I said.
"Doubt it" Spencer muttered under her breath.
Then all of a sudden we hear a cane tapping and we turn around, only for our eyes to widen in shock when we saw that it's Jenna.
Are you kidding me right now?
"Oh, my god, she's back in school too" Hanna exclaimed in shock and disbelief.
The girls all looked at her before we looked back at Jenna.
She was having trouble walking around, trying to find a table to sit at. She tried passing by a few people, but most of them would bump into her, making her stumble and nearly fall.
I looked at the girls, bit my lip before deciding to go help her and offer her to sit with us.
I got up, ignoring the looks from the girls, and walked over to Jenna.
"Jenna? Hey, it's, it's Ethan. Do you...want to come sit with us?" I asked.
"Sure" Jenna nodded, a smile appearing on her face.
"Ok" I nodded, grabbing her lunch tray.
"Thank you" Jenna smiled.
"Of course" I nodded.
I gently linked her arm with mine, I know that she had her cane with her but I wouldn't forgive myself for not helping a blind girl.
I gently guided her over to the table, still ignoring the looks from my sister and best friends.
"So you're gonna be between Hanna and Emily. And Aria and Spencer are right across" I said.
"Thank you" Jenna, once again, said.
I guided her to where Hanna and Emily were. I put her tray down and pulled out the chair.
"Yeah. And here's a chair" I said.
"So...this would be Alison's chair, right?" Jenna asked, putting her cane to the side and sitting down.
I walked back over to where I was and sat down, picking up a few fries and stuffing them in my face.
"No. We're not even sitting at that table" Emily said and we all nodded.
"You know, she came to visit me in the hospital after the accident" Jenna said.
We all looked at her in shock, clearly surprised that Alison of all people would visit her. Considering Alison hated her.
"Alison did?" Spencer asked.
"Mm-hm. Everyone misunderstood Alison, but I knew exactly who she was" Jenna said with a faint smile.
We all looked at each other, still in shock, before looking back at her.
I cleared my throat, wanting to talk about something else.
"When did you get back, Jenna? We heard that you were in Philadelphia, a school for the...visually impaired" I asked.
I didn't want to say blind since I thought it would be disrespectful. But Jenna just smiled and giggled.
"You can say 'blind', Ethan. It's okay. It's not a dirty word" Jenna softly said.
I nodded, a bit awkwardly, grabbing a few more fries and stuffing them into my mouth.
Silence filled the table as none of us said anything, not really knowing what to say. Jenna opened her juice bottle and started gulping on it.
I released a small shaky breath, looking at my sister before at the girls.
Jenna put her bottle down, an amused smile appearing on her face as she let out a small chuckle.
"Wow. It's so quiet. You guys used to be the fun table. What happened to you guys?" Jenna asked.
We all looked at each other, not really knowing what to say.
Things are already awkward enough as it is. We don't need to make them even more awkward.
A few seconds passed and we all slightly jumped when we heard our phones ding.
None of us moved, we remained still, we didn't know if we should look at them or leave it be.
Looks like we didn't have much of an option because Jenna moved her hands around on top of the table, before grabbing Spencer's phone and handing it to her.
"Aren't you gonna get that?" Jenna asked.
Spencer just nodded and gently took her phone from her, muttering a small 'thanks'.
Me and the other girls look at each other before grabbing our phones to see the text.
If only she could see how guilty you look. Excluding Ethan

In English Class
I seriously just wanted to get through this day. I just want to head home, finish homework and sleep till I'm thirty.
We all walked into our English class, walking to our seats to sit down and get this class started.
"Okay, people, let's take our seats" Mr. Fitz said.
We all nodded and got in our seats, opening our notebooks and getting our pens or pencils out.
We hear footsteps and I turn around to see Mona walking in, texting someone on her phone. When she sees everyone sitting down, she looks at Mr. Fitz with a raised eyebrow.
"Am I late?" Mona asked.
"It's...it's Mona, right?" Mr. Fitz asked.
"That's right Mr. Fritz" Mona nodded, smiling while putting her phone away.
This made all of us chuckle, some laughing while others shook their heads at her in slight annoyance.
Mona looked at all of us and furrowed her eyebrows, clearly confused.
"What?" Mona asked before looking at Mr. Fitz.
"Take your seat, Mona, please" Mr. Fitz said, chuckling lightly at the end.
Mona looked at him weirdly before nodding her head and walking away to take her seat.
When she sat down I see Hanna leaning towards her and whisper something to her. This made Mona giggle and shrug.
I looked at Emily, who was giggling, making me chuckle and shake my head before looking forward.
"If the mockingbird represents the idea of innocence, what characters are innocent?" Mr. Fitz asked.
He handed papers to the students in the front row and they took their own before passing it to the others behind them.
"Take a second. Jot down your ideas. We'll discuss" Mr. Fitz said, walking back to his desk.
We all immediately start writing our ideas. I hear footsteps and look up to see Aria entering the classroom.
I raised an eyebrow when I saw her put a paper on Mr. Fitz's desk. He looks down at the paper before looking back at her.
I saw a faint smile appear on his face, making me narrow my eyes at him.
I look back down at my paper when Aria turns around and walks over to her seat.
I took a quick glance at her and saw that she was smiling, a happy smile, which made me even more confused.
Something is going on between those two. Rest assured that I will find out what they're hiding.
At Apple Rosegrille
After school finished, me and Spencer went home and I immediately got to work on my homework.
When that was done, I quickly applied for the classes I wanted to take at Hollis.
When those two things were done, I took a nice long nap, something that I really needed after today.
When dad came home, we all left since we would be going out to dinner. Melissa and Wren would be joining us as well.
When we arrived, we were taken to an empty table. So right now we were just waiting for Wren and Melissa.
Dad was on his phone, Spencer was looking through a magazine, while I was scrolling through a few photos on my phone.
Spencer closes the magazine and sets it down, looking at dad with a smile on her face.
"I've decided on the class I want to take at Hollis" Spencer said.
Dad just nodded and hummed, not looking up from his phone.
I rolled my eyes at him, putting my phone away, wanting to hear what my sister has to say.
"But it's not for credit, Dad, it's for fun" Spencer smiled.
I smiled at her, while dad chuckled, either finding what she said amusing or was laughing out of mockery.
"What's the point of that?" Dad asked.
This made Spencer's smile fade, while I glared at dad in annoyance. Seriously, can he at least be happy for her.
I am, not everything she does has to be perfect. Nobody is ever perfect.
"Your mom's coming back a day early. She'll be home tomorrow" Dad said.
Me and Spencer just nodded, and I can tell she was still upset. I know my twin very well.
So, being the best twin brother I am, I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer to my side.
She smiled softly at me and snuggled into my side, resting her head on my shoulder.
"What about you, son? What class or classes are you taking?" Dad asked, finally looking up from his phone.
"I chose Law and Medical. I'm aiming towards something that I really want to do. Along with something that lets me help people" I explained.
Dad smiled proudly at me and patted my shoulder.
"Atta boy" Dad said.
I chuckled and shook my head at him, Spencer giggling right next to me.
We heard the door open and look to see Aria walking in. Me and Spencer look at each other and nodded.
We got up from our seats, dad not noticing us since he went back to looking at his phone, and walked over to Aria.
Aria turned to look at us and smiled.
"Hey. We was gonna e-mail you when we got home" I said and Spencer nodded before she let out a sigh.
"How weird was that lunch?" Spencer asked.
"I'd say on a scale from one to ten...eleven" Aria nodded.
"Yeah" me and Spencer said together.
The door opened and we turn around to see Melissa and Wren walking in, going straight for the table.
While Melissa didn't see us, Wren did, he smiled and waved at us but he was mostly looking at Spencer.
Spencer smiled at him, and I narrowed my eyes at both of them. Clearly suspicious.
"Is that the new fiancé? Is he as uptight as Melissa?" Aria asked.
"No one's as uptight as Melissa" Spencer scoffed.
This made both of them laugh, while I rolled my eyes with a small smile on my face.
"We better get back" I said and Spencer nodded.
"Alright. See ya" Aria smiled, patting both of us on our arms.
We smiled and nodded at her before turning around and walking back to the table. We made it just in time because a waiter walked over.
"Can I get anyone a drink?" the waiter asked.
Me and Spencer sat down and Spencer quickly spoke up.
"I'll have a vodka soda" Spencer said.
This made me and Wren chuckle, while dad lightly glared at her and Melissa smiled nervously at the waiter.
"She's kidding" Melissa said.
Spencer's smile turned into a frown and she glared at her. I sighed and shook my head, while dad nodded at Melissa and turned to the waiter.
"I'm gonna have a glass of the house cab. Melissa? Ethan?" Dad asked.
"The same as my father" Melissa nodded.
"Just a simple soda for me, please" I said.
The waiter nodded and wrote down our orders and looked at Wren and Spencer.
"I actually will have a vodka soda" Wren smiled.
"And just water for me" Spencer said, a smile on her face, but I can tell if was filled with nothing but annoyance.
I sighed and shook my head.
The waiter wrote down all our orders and walked away.
When he was gone, we all either talked to each other or remained quiet. Dad, Melissa and Wren were all talking.
Spencer was lazily looking at the same magazine from before, while I just looked at my phone.
A few minutes passed and the waiter came back with all our drinks.
We quickly told him what we wanted to eat and he walked away once he wrote down our orders.
"Hi/low, anyone?" Melissa asked with a smile.
"Hi/low?" Wren asked, clearly confused and with an eyebrow raised.
"It's a game. You guys don't play it in bed?" Spencer asked.
I snorted, nearly spitting out my soda. Melissa glared at her while dad gave her a pointed look before turning to Wren.
"Wren, you can play too" Dad said.
"I'm a bit lost" Wren said.
I chuckled and patted his shoulder for some comfort.
"You'll catch on" I said, making him smile and nod.
Melissa smiled before sitting up straighter in her seat, looking at everyone before her eyes landed on dad.
"I'll go first. We just started our first week of class, And I've already been nominated to serve on the business school's leadership commitee" Melissa smiled.
Me and dad smiled proudly at her.
I glanced at Wren and Spencer, only to see Wren holding his cup of vodka soda. The weird thing was that his hand was really close to Spencer.
"Melissa likes to play the game when she's fairly certain she'll win" Dad chuckled, shaking his head.
"Guess who I learned that from" Melissa smiled, giggling at the end.
Glancing back at Wren and Spencer, I saw my sister taking the cup from his hand and taking a sip, making sure that dad and Melissa weren't looking.
I narrowed my eyes at them before looking back at dad and Melissa.
"Don't go tasting victory just yet. 'Cause the judge ruled on my brief today, and the class action suit against winslow has been dismissed" Dad smugly smiled.
"Oh" Melissa fake gasped in shock.
I chuckled and shook my head, narrowing my eyes once more when Spencer put the cup back in Wren's hand.
"Ethan, son, you're up" Dad smiled.
Melissa looked at me and smiled, nodding encouragingly.
"Well if you must know. I got perfect grades on all the homework I've turned in for every class. Not only that, but I've been recommended by a few of my teachers to intern at a nearby hospital. To help out a few children and old people" I explained.
Both dad and Melissa smiled proudly at me.
I looked to see Spencer smiling softly at me, gently sliding her hand into mine. And I see Wren smiling and nodding at me in approval.
"I don't know about you, dad. But I think Ethan might win this time" Melissa said, slightly teasing.
"Lets hope" Dad joked.
This made everyone laugh, while I chuckled and shook my heads at them.
I've always loved helping people. It's been my passion since I was 5 years old.
I've always been interested in law and medical.
I want to become a lawyer, help put the bad people behind bars and help the innocent people get justice.
But I'm also interested in something medical.
I want to help those that are sick, dying and are in need of any type of help. I want to be able to give them hope and joy.
"If I don't play, do I still get another drink?" Wren asked.
Spencer chuckled softly and mouthed something to him, something I didn't really catch quite well.
"Spencer, you're up" Dad smiled.
Spencer jumped, surprised, but cleared her throat and nodded.
"Um..." Spencer said, clearly nervous and confused, not really knowing what to say and having trouble coming up with something.
Wren noticed her trouble and decided to jump in.
"I'll go" Wren said.
Melissa smiled at him while dad looking at him, clearly interested in what he's going to say.
"I got a brilliant parking spot today, right in front of the chem lab" Wren smiled.
This made me and Spencer laugh, while dad glared at him and Melissa giggled nervously.
"He's just kidding" Melissa said to dad.
Dad only hummed, taking a sip of his drink, with me doing the same after my laughter died down.
The Next Day
School was just the same. Utter shit. Tiring shit.
As always, we're given lots of homework. It's worse for me and Spencer since our parents want us taking AP classes.
They always tell us that it's good for college applications.
I mean, yeah I agree, but damn are they trying to kill us. I honestly don't know how the hell Melissa did this and managed to get through it all.
Right now I was in the kitchen, doing my homework, while Spencer was upstairs in her room doing hers.
Wren passed by a few minutes ago and went upstairs, saying that he was doing some laundry before heading to bed.
I typed on my computer, while also writing on my notebook and scanning through the reading.
I had a few more assignments to finish and then I can head to bed.
The door opened and I turned around to see Melissa walking in, holding a few clothes in her hands.
"Hey lil bro, how's the homework going?" Melissa asked, walking over to me.
I chuckled and shrugged, going back to writing on my notebook, not wanting to waste time or lose focus.
"Same old same old. Pain in the ass, but I'll be fine" I said.
"Anything I can help you with?" Melissa asked.
"No don't worry. I just need a few more minutes and I'm finally done. Promise" I smiled.
Melissa smiled at me before leaning in and kissing my head.
"Alright, well you work on homework, I need to finish some laundry with Wren before we head to bed" Melissa said.
"Oh, do you need any help?" I asked, looking at the pile of clothes she was holding.
"No don't worry, I can take care of it. You focus on homework" Melissa said in a stern voice.
I chuckled and nodded. She smiled and ruffled my hair before turning around and heading upstairs.
I sighed before going back to my homework. I really just want to get all of this done before going to bed.
I want to sleep forever and never wake up.
A few minutes passed and I heard hurried footsteps coming from upstairs.
I thought it was just Wren and Melissa, but it was just Melissa.
But what shocked me was the fact that she had tears streaming down her face, and she was running.
"Melissa? Melissa, what's wrong?" I asked, standing up.
She ignored me and opened the door before running out.
I quickly run after her, closing the door behind me as I tried catching up to her.
She was running to the loft, so I quickly ran after her, wanting to know why she was crying.
When I got there, I opened the door and entered the loft, closing the door behind me and looked around.
I found Melissa on the couch, laying on her stomach, her face buried into a pillow as she sobbed.
I ran over to her and crouched down in front of her, gently rubbing her back up and down.
"Melissa, sis, what happened?" I asked.
She didn't answer me, she clutched onto the pillow and continued sobbing.
It broke my heart to see my big sister like this. But what happened? Why is she even crying in the first place?
"Melissa, what's wrong? Why are you crying? What happened?" I asked.
Melissa sniffled before finally removing her face from the pillow. My heart clenched when I saw her red eyes, tear streaks on her face.
I frowned and gently cupped her face.
"What's wrong sis?" I softly asked.
"I caught Spencer and Wren kissing in her room" Melissa sobbed before wrapping her arms around me in a hug.
My eyes went wide in shock and disbelief. I wrapped my arms around my big sister and gave her a brotherly kiss to the cheek.
I closed my eyes and sighed, shaking my head.
What the hell did Spencer just do?
The Next Day
It won't come out as a shock when I say that the wedding is called off.
After I got Melissa to calm down, she made me go back to the house so I can finish my homework, while she would stay behind to talk to Wren.
Lets just say that I didn't get much sleeping, mostly of their angry yelling, mostly coming from Melissa.
When morning came, Wren gathered his things and immediately left.
Spencer didn't want to stay home, considering Melissa was giving her the cold shoulder.
So she decided to go out for a run, and since I didn't really want to be home either I went with her.
And lets just say that she was completely scared and freaked out because she just ruined Melissa's relationship with Wren.
"Spence, relax, Melissa will get over it" I said to my worried sister.
"How do you know that?" Spencer asked.
"Because she's a big girl. She'll get over it. And if she doesn't then just ignore her. Don't let her anger towards you get the best of you. Focus on the important things" I explained to her in a soft yet stern tone.
We both stopped running, wanting to catch our breath since we were both a bit tired.
When we managed to catch our breath, Spencer looked at me, a sad and guilty look on her face.
"Do you think she'll forgive me? Or at least let me explain what really happened?" Spencer asked.
I sighed and walked over to her, wrapping my arms around her and kissing her forehead.
"I can't say for sure. You and I both know how she is. But just give her time. And slowly, really slowly, she'll get over it and forgive you" I softly said.
Spencer sighed and slowly nodded.
A small tear slid down her face, I gently brought my thumb to her face and I wiped it away.
I smiled when a soft giggle escaped my sisters lips, her eyes meeting mine as she smiled before hugging me.
I sighed before hugging her back, resting my chin on top of her head.
"Thank you for always staying by my side, you're the best twin brother ever" Spencer softly said.
"Anything for you sis" I softly said.
We remained in each others embrace before pulling away from each other.
We turned around, ready to start running again, before we stopped when we saw a familiar person sitting at a nearby bench.
Jenna Marshall.
Me and Spencer looked at each other before looking back at her. Slowly, we took a few steps closer.
We stopped when we saw Jenna slowly taking her phone out. She pressed something before putting her mouth near it.
"Send text now" Jenna said.
This made mine and Spencer's eyes go wide.
Hold up.
Is Jenna A?
Is she the one that's been sending us those messages?
Does...does she by any chance know the real reason why she's blind?
She slowly put her phone away, and to our fear she turned to where we were. Although she couldn't see us, I'm pretty sure she can tell we were here. At least she doesn't know it's us.
As quickly as I could, I grabbed Spencer by the arm and we ran away, not wanting to be there any longer.
Things just got a whole lot interesting.
