Chapter Eighty-Three: Bring Down The Hoe

Ethan's Pov

The girls and I were at school eating lunch.

Emily was telling us that her and Mrs. Dilaurentis found a crawlspace at the house.

Emily believes that that's where Cece is hiding.

I mean, it makes sense, but I don't think Cece is dumb enough to hide there.

Especially when she knows we're looking for her.

"Do you actually think she's been living in that crawl space?" Aria asked.

"Aria, there was a sleeping bag" Emily said.

"But napping isn't living" Aria added.

"Unless you're a reptile, which kind of describes Cece" Spencer rolled her eyes.

"Least the Cece that Mrs. DiLaurentis remembers" Emily said, picking at her food.

"But not just Mrs. D. Even Shana's scared of this girl" I reminded them.

"Yeah, well I'm scared of Shana" Emily sighed.

"She's not the one who used Jenna's head as batting practice at your birthday party" I said.

"Yeah, why is Cece going after Jenna?" Spencer asked, confused.

"Why would she go after any of us? We had nothing to do with her getting kicked out of college" Aria asked, confused.

Like one minute we're trying to be friends with the girl since she was Ali's friend.

And the next she goes missing and is suddenly going after us because of whatever grudge she has on us.

"We have no idea what Ali could've told her" Spencer added.

"What could Ali have possibly said that would make Cece hate us enough to drill holes under Ali's house and stare up Emily's skirt?" Aria asked, confused.

"How am I supposed to live in that house?" Emily asked, worried.

"Just hang out on the second floor" I suggested.

"And wear underwear at all times" Spencer added.

Emily sighed but nodded her head and went back to eating her food.

"I'm eating this" Spencer said as she took a carrot from her.

I chuckled at her before smiling when I saw Hanna making her way towards us.

"Hey, buttercup" I greeted her.

"Hey, bubs" Hanna greeted me back, sitting down.

"Hey. Where you been?" Aria asked.

"Uh, with my mom. She met another lawyer" Hanna said.

Spencer and I glanced at each other before looking away.

We still felt bad that Ms. Marin no longer had a lawyer because of whoever made that call to make their anonymous tip.

"How'd it go?" Emily asked.

"Not great. They're all just bottom-feeders trying to make a name for themselves" Hanna scoffed.

"There are other ones" Emily tired to reassure her.

Em, she's met all of them. They don't care what happens to her. She's just, case number 79" Hanna rolled her eyes.

"Your mom's gonna find somebody who really cares about her" Aria tried to reassure her.

"She already found someone who cared" Hanna huffed.

She then turned to Spencer and I causing us to look at her.

"Why can't you tell your mom to ask the judge to get back on that case?" Hanna asked.

"Because A took her down" Spencer reminded her.

"Spencer, Ethan, talk to her. Please. My mom trusts her. She needs her" Hanna begged.

"We know and our mom is not deserting her" Spencer told her.

"Yeah. She just...she has to figure out what kind of role she can play without compromising your mom's defense" I explained.

Mom is still going to try and find a way to help Ms. Marin and be there for her.

But she still can't be her lawyer.

Hanna sighed in annoyance and I placed my hand on her shoulder for some comfort.

"What is she doing here?" Emily suddenly asked.

"Who?" Aria asked, confused.

"Lieutenant Tanner" Emily said.

The girls and I turned around to see Lieutenant Tanner walking nearby with her phone in her hand.

"Why is she at our school?" Hanna asked, confused.

"Doubt it's for the baked ziti" Spencer scoffed.

I groaned in annoyance as Lieutenant Tanner made her way towards us with a smile on her face.

"Hello, kids. May I join?" Lieutenant Tanner asked.

We so badly wanted to say no.

We wanted to tell her to leave us alone.

But, unfortunately, we couldn't.

We gave her fake smiles and nodded and she sat down next to Spencer.

Once she sat down she turned to look at Emily.

"I hear you and your mother moved in with a neighbor. Must be nice not having to use a desk as an ironing board. Have you been back to your house since the accident?" Lieutenant Tanner asked.

"No, I haven't" Emily told her.

"Well I'm just here, ladies and gentleman, to remind you that the local P.D. is still investigating" Lieutenant Tanner said.

"Did they find out who was driving that car?" I asked.

"No. Not yet. Oh, but they did find something interesting while they were sorting through the wreckage" Lieutenant Tanner said.

"What? What was it?" Spencer asked.

"A shoe. A muddy shoe" Lieutenant Tanner said.

This made my eyes widen a little.

I looked at Hanna and saw that she was already looking anxious.

"That, believe it or not, matches the shoe prints from the Wilden crime scene. Which falls under my jurisdiction" Lieutenant Tanner said.

Hanna was biting her nails, trying her best to remain calm but failing.

I scooted closer to her and wrapped my arm around her shoulders.

I wanted to offer her some type of comfort and wanted to help her calm down.

"Do they know whose shoe it is?" Emily asked.

"Well we spoke to your mother, Emily. We know it's not hers. And we have ways of testing these things out. You know, D.N.A. and stuff" Lieutenant Tanner explained.

That was enough to make Hanna's anxiety rise.

Because she abruptly got up and grabbed her bag, causing all of us to look at her.

"Something wrong, Hanna?" Lieutenant Tanner asked.

Yes.

You're what's wrong, lady.

"No, I'm just...I have to use the restroom" Hanna quickly said.

She didn't stick around for any of us to answer and quickly left.

The girls and I looked at each other, clearly worried about Hanna.

"Jeez, I hope I didn't ruin anyone's lunch" Lieutenant Tanner frowned.

Why couldn't she just question other people instead of us?

Better yet, why did she even have to come here?

A Few Minutes Later

When lunch was over the girls and I went to go find Hanna.

We had to make sure she was ok.

While walking around the hallways we found her exiting the girls bathroom and we made our way towards her.

"Hanna. Hanna, come on, don't let Tanner freak you out about a muddy shoe. It's probably not even why she came here" Spencer said.

"Oh, really? It was about the baked ziti?" Hanna sarcastically asked.

"No, look, A put that shoe in Emily's house cause Mona made a crazy move" Spencer said.

"Why does A care what Mona says?" Hanna angrily asked.

"Because her confession screwed with A's perfect plan to frame your mother" I told her.

We stopped at the vending machine as Hanna took out some money.

"Yeah, and Tanner's just fishing to see if we were the ones who put Mona up to it" Aria added.

"She's been after me since that 'guilty' video was delivered to the police. Ok, she's just trying to scare us into spilling something" Emily said.

"Yeah, well it worked. My breakfast" Hanna huffed.

"We need to put Cece on Tanner's radar" Spencer said.

"How are we supposed to do that?" Aria asked, confused.

"Yeah. Do we just invite her into the crawlspace?" I sarcastically asked, crossing my arms.

"No, we are gonna go into the crawlspace this afternoon, after school, and hopefully find some proof that Cece's back in town and living down there" Spencer explained.

"If we go down there, Mrs. D. is gonna start asking questions" Emily said.

"Well Mrs. D. isn't gonna be there cause Hanna is going shopping with her" Spencer said.

I raised an eyebrow at her while Hanna gave her a look of disbelief.

"For what? Things to wear while visiting my mother on a chain gang?" Hanna sarcastically asked.

"No. Tonight's dance" Spencer told her.

"Spencer! I am not going to that hoedown! Ok! I cannot leave my mother alone" Hanna angrily yelled.

"You don't have to go to the hoedown. You just have to waste an hour or two with Mrs. D. Trying on bolo ties, ok" Spencer said.

Hanna rolled her eyes, tugging at her hair.

"And you three are gonna meet me underneath the house at 4:00" Spencer said, looking at Aria, Emily and I.

"Ok" Aria nodded.

Emily nodded while I shook my head.

"I can't. I promised Alyssa I'd go shopping with her to help her find an outfit for the dance" I said.

Spencer grumbled in annoyance before nodding her head in understanding.

We heard a phone ring and saw Spencer taking hers out.

She stared at it for a few seconds, this expression on her face, causing us to look at her weirdly.

"You ok?" I asked.

"Uh, yeah. Yeah, no...I'm gonna meet you guys under the house" Spencer said before walking away.

"Ok" Emily slowly nodded.

That was weird.

What the hell is my sister hiding?

The bell rang and the rest of us went our separate ways to head to our class.

At Home

As much as I love spending time with my girl, I really don't like the mall.

Especially when my girl had a hard time trying to find the perfect outfit for tonight.

Fortunately, she finally managed to find the perfect outfit and once she paid we left the mall.

I treated her to some ice-cream and we ate our icy treat at the park before deciding to leave.

Alyssa wanted to get her homework done so that she would be able to have a fun time at the dance without worrying.

Not to mention she wanted to get her hair and makeup done for when I would go to pick her up.

So, after dropping Alyssa back at her house I made my way back to my house.

Spencer texted me and said she needed me back home so she and the girls could tell me what happened when they were in the crawlspace.

When I got home they were already there.

We waited for Hanna and she arrived with a Macy's shopping bag that probably had her outfit for tonight inside.

Spencer excused herself because she had needed to do something.

Leaving the rest of us downstairs.

Aria and Emily explained to Hanna and I what happened.

Apparently while they were down there someone had broken in and nearly killed them with a knitting needle.

Thank god none of them were hurt.

"Wait, go back. How many knitting needles were there?" Hanna asked.

Aria and Emily gave her looks of disbelief while I raised an eyebrow at her.

"Buttercup, does there need to be more than one?" I asked.

"I'm just saying there could have been more than one person up there" Hanna shrugged.

"There was one person, one heavy-footed person who knew exactly where those holes were" Emily said.

I saw the expression on her face and I could tell she was scared.

Honestly, I don't blame her.

I'd be scared too.

"Em, this could help us. If that person is Cece, we can trap her. Maybe with the diva dish envelope. When you go back there, you should-" Hanna started but was cut off.

"If I go back there it's to pack up my suitcase, ok. I'm not sleeping in that house again. I'll move in here" Emily shrugged.

"That's fine. I can talk to my mom about it and I'm sure she'll be fine with it" I smiled.

I don't blame Emily not wanting to go back to that house after what happened.

I wouldn't want to return either.

We heard footsteps and we turned around to see Spencer walking downstairs.

"Moving in where?" Spencer asked.

"Here. Your bedroom, this couch, anywhere where there's carpeting" Emily said.

"Do you want to do this tonight?" Spencer asked.

I raised an eyebrow at her as Emily looked at her in confusion.

"Yeah. Is that a problem?" Emily asked.

"Uh..." Spencer said, unsure of what to say.

"Who were you talking to upstairs?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"Toby. Why? What did I miss?" Spencer asked.

I get that they're back together, despite what happened, but why does it seem like the two of them are hiding something?

The girls and I glanced at each other before looking back at my sister.

"What did we miss? Spence, it's like you're living a double life" Aria said.

"What makes you think I'm living a double life?" Spencer asked, confused.

"Because I have and I know exactly what it looks like" Aria said.

"Yeah. Everytime Toby calls, you leave the room, your mood changes" I said.

"Uh because everytime I bring up his name you roll your eyes and your mood changes. Might I remind you that you're still angry at him?" Spencer argued.

"Might I remind you that I'm still angry at him because of the shit he did to us, to you, when he decided to work with Mona?" I argued back.

She seriously can't expect me to be fine with Toby after what he did.

"Are you pregnant?" Hanna suddenly asked.

I looked at her in confusion while Spencer looked taken aback by that.

"Shut up, Hanna" Emily sighed in annoyance.

"You aren't pregnant, right?" I asked, wanting to be sure.

"No!" Spencer yelled, throwing her arms up in the air.

I nodded, good.

Because if she was that would've given me a reason to actually kill Toby.

"Ok, it's like you're here but you're not" Emily said, going back to the previous topic.

"We get it. We understand you have a boyfriend. All of us, except for Ethan, have had them" Aria said.

I shifted uncomfortably at that and fiddled with the collar of my shirt.

"Yeah, even Emily" Hanna added.

This made me snort in amusement while Emily turned around to glare at her.

"Shut up, Hanna" Emily scowled, annoyed.

Hanna shrugged which made me let out another snort.

"Ok, but we don't put anyone above our friendship" Emily said, looking at my sister.

"I'm not putting him above you guys. I just...Toby is...he's dealing with some really serious stuff" Spencer said.

I rolled my eyes at that.

What stuff could he possibly be dealing with that's worse than what we're dealing with?

"Spencer, Hanna's mom might be going to prison, like, for real" I reminded her.

"And Emily's got a car parked in her living room, and I nearly lost an eye this afternoon. I think all of our stuff ranks on the serious charts" Aria added.

Spencer sighed and placed her hands inside her pants pocket, looking at us nervously.

"I promised him" Spencer softly said.

"We know" Emily nodded.

"Spence, what's the deal? Is Toby working with A again?" Hanna asked.

"I swear to god he better not be working with him or so help me" I gritted my teeth.

If he's working with A again, that's it.

I won't consider giving him a second chance.

If he's working with that psychopath, again, I will find him and beat him to a pulp.

"No. But A is giving him gifts, too" Spencer revealed.

This made the girls and I look at her in confusion.

Spencer ran her hand through her hair as she released a sigh before speaking again.

"Toby's mother might have been murdered" Spencer revealed.

This made all of our eyes widen and our jaws dropped, not expecting her to say that.

"What?" I breathed out in disbelief.

Spencer looked at me and just nodded her head.

At The Dilaurentis House

Spencer and I had gone over to the Dilaurentis house to help Emily pack since she really didn't want to stay there anymore.

Like I said, I didn't blame her.

While she was putting her clothes into her bag Spencer and I were standing behind her.

"Toby can't trust A anymore" Emily said.

"I made that really clear" Spencer told her.

Spencer revealed to us that A knows the truth about what happened to Toby's mother.

To say I was shocked would be an understatement.

She told the girls and I that A started sending Toby gifts that show that his mother didn't commit suicide but was murdered.

Now Toby is hellbent on trying to find out as much as he can.

He's hellbent on trying to find out what happened the night his mother died.

And, honestly, I don't blame him.

Because he wants answers and if A has them, it makes sense why he's trusting A and helping them.

But it's risky.

Because at any moment A could double cross him and that's probably the last thing he wants.

"Em, how can we help?" I asked.

I didn't want to stand here and do nothing.

"Um, just grab my stuff in the bathroom" Emily said.

I nodded as did Spencer and we went to leave but Emily stopped us.

"Oh, and check the shower" Emily added.

"Ok" Spencer nodded.

Spencer and I left the room to head into the bathroom and get Emily's stuff.

When we got there I went to grab her things while Spencer checked the shower to see if some of Em's things were there.

Silence filled the air as we did what we were tasked.

I bit the inside of my cheek, debating on if I should speak or not, before looking at my sister.

"Why wouldn't Toby tell me this?" I asked.

"He wanted to, he knew that you deserved to know, but he knew that you were still mad at him and didn't want to be near him so he didn't say anything" Spencer explained.

I frowned but said nothing at that.

Considering it's true.

I have done nothing but avoid Toby because of how angry I was with him for what he had done.

"Yeah, but he still could've come to me. I would've helped no matter how angry I was at him" I said.

"I told him that too because I know you but he didn't want to. Considering he didn't want to anger you even more" Spencer said.

I guess that makes sense.

I sighed as I finished grabbing all of Emily's things.

"Should I cut him some slack then?" I asked.

"I know you're still angry at him for what he did. But he really is sorry for it. For all of it" Spencer explained.

A frown made its way onto my face as I had an inner debate on his head.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still angry at Toby.

But after what Spencer told us, maybe that's why Toby was working with Mona in the first place.

Maybe that's why he wanted to get to A since A had all the information he needed.

And if it involves his mother it makes sense.

After all, Toby loved his mother more than anything and she was always there for him.

"Alright, come on" Spencer sighed.

I nodded and grabbed Emily's things before Spencer and I left the bathroom.

We then made our way back into the bathroom.

"Hey. This is everything" I told Emily.

I set her things down on the bed next to her bag.

Spencer and I looked at Emily and we frowned when we saw her back was turned to us.

"What's wrong?" Spencer asked, confused.

Emily stayed silent for a few seconds before turning around to look at us.

"Did you know that Ali once had a gun pulled on her?" Emily asked.

Spencer's eyes widened at that while I choked on my own spit.

"What?" Spencer asked, completely shocked.

"Yeah, what the hell are you talking about?" I asked.

"Ali used to help people break up with their boyfriends when they didn't want to deal with it themselves. What if that was a favor she did for Cece, and that creepy dude was Wilden?" Emily asked.

"Whoa, Emily, slow down" Spencer told her.

Yeah, please have her slow down.

I'm still trying to process what she previously told us.

"No, when I saw that photo of Wilden with his arms around Ali and Cece, I assumed that he was seeing Ali. What if Cece was dating Jason and Wilden?" Emily asked.

"So what if she was?" I asked, confused.

"Maybe when she came back to Rosewood, he tried to hook up with her, and the only way to get rid of him was to kill him" Emily said.

Spencer and I glanced at each other, unsure of what to say.

That is a possibility.

But what if that's not the truth.

What if there's more behind the story with Wilden, Alison and Cece?

At The Hoedown

It was the night of the hoedown and I had to admit that I was pretty excited.

Given everything the girls are going through at the moment, we deserve to have at least one night of fun.

The Halloween train party would've count had A not drugged Aria and tried to kill her.

When Spencer, Emily and I returned home we all decided to get ready for the dance.

I finished getting dressed earlier and left the two of them at the house to go pick up Alyssa.

Once I picked her up, promising her parents to bring her home at around eleven, I took us to the dance.

Luckily it wasn't too far away so we didn't arrive too late.

Alyssa and I walked in, my arm wrapped around her shoulders while her arm was wrapped around my waist.

(Ethan's Outfit)

(Alyssa's Outfit)

"Wow, this place looks fun" Alyssa commented.

"I sure hope so. I know we didn't come here to have a bad time" I laughed.

Alyssa laughed as well while nodding her head in agreement.

"Come on, lets go get ourselves something to drink and then hit the dancefloor" Alyssa grinned.

"Yes, mam" I grinned.

Alyssa laughed before kissing me on the lips, making me hum and kiss her back, before we walked over where the drinks were at.

When we got there we saw Caleb there, getting drinks for him and Hanna.

"Hey, Caleb" I smiled.

Caleb turned around and immediately smiled when he saw us.

"Hey, Ethan. Hey, Alyssa" Caleb greeted us.

"Hey" Alyssa smiled.

"Where's Hanna?" I asked.

"She's dancing with some guy. I don't know him but she does, she says he's a friend of Aria's brother" Caleb shrugged.

I frowned at that, clearly confused.

I opened my mouth to say something when two other people joined us.

It was Aria and Jake.

"Howdy, guys. How's it going?" Aria asked.

"What are they serving?" Jake asked.

"Uh, I would just stick with water. Everything else tastes like cough syrup" Caleb told him.

Alyssa and I laughed at that while Aria began looking around.

"Where's Hanna?" Aria asked.

"She's dancing off some bet with one of your brother's teammates. You know anything about that?" Caleb asked.

Aria frowned, confused.

She discreetly glanced at me, wanting some answers, but I just shrugged at her.

"Oh... yeah, Mike is so immature" Aria awkwardly smiled.

It's clear that whoever Hanna is dancing with knows something, or whatever, and she probably doesn't want Caleb to know.

Or, at the very least, some guy that likes her and wants to dance and she just gave in to get him off her back.

"I'll have water" Aria quickly said.

"Me too" Alyssa smiled.

Jake nodded and went to grab her a water as I did the same with Alyssa.

Once I gave Alyssa her water I led her away to the food table.

We weren't going to eat anything since we wanted to dance before eating.

We waited for a few minutes, just talking while taking sips of our water, before a fun country song came on.

A few people had left the dance floor, clearly wanting a break, while tons of other people rushed onto the dance floor.

I closed my water bottle and turned to my girl, holding my hand out for her.

"Ready to dance, darling?" I asked, grinning.

"You know it" Alyssa grinned.

She closed her water bottle and set it down before taking my hand.

The two of us rushed onto the dance floor, smiling when we saw Aria and Jake joining, and got into position.

I grabbed Alyssa's hand and spun her around, causing her to laugh in delight.

This is honestly something we both needed.

We just needed to forget about everything, we just needed to let loose and have fun.

And trust me when I say that we most definitely were having fun.

A Few Hours Later

This dance was a blast.

Honestly I'm so glad I decided to come because I was enjoying myself and enjoying my time with my girlfriend.

Alyssa and I danced a ton of times before we began to get tired and decided enough was enough.

We then decided to get some food since all that dancing surely made us hungry.

The girls were trying to enjoy the dance but they got caught up either in A related things or some other things.

Honestly, I just wanna have one day of freedom.

One day of being a teenager and just having fun.

Which is why I'm gonna do my best to stir clear from any drama and just spend today with my girl.

And I'll end this day with my girl.

The dance was slowly coming to an end, some people had already left while others were still here.

Some were either sitting down and eating or were dancing with their partners.

A slow song had come on which means the one dancing were slow dancing.

I wanted to slow dance with Alyssa but she told me her stomach hurt and would be in the bathroom for a bit.

That's fine with me, I'll wait for her and then we can slow dance.

"Ethan?" I heard someone call out to me.

I tensed, already know who the person was.

I turned my head and, as expected, Seth is standing right there.

I swear to god he's stalking me, it's the only explanation I have as to why he's always where I am.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I had nothing else to do and I thought I'd come here to have some fun" Seth told me.

"How wonderful" I muttered.

He really couldn't have gone anywhere else to have fun.

Why did he come here? Why didn't he just miss the dance?

"Are you alone?" Seth asked.

"No, I'm not. I'm here with my girlfriend" I told him.

"Really? Where is she then?" Seth asked, looking around.

"In the bathroom. She'll be there for a while since her stomach was hurting" I told him.

I wanted nothing more than to just get up and leave.

But something tells me that won't work and he would just follow me.

Seth is just the type of person that doesn't leave unless he gets what he wants.

He's always been like that and, sadly, being back here hasn't changed that.

"Want to dance?" Seth asked.

"No" I shook my head.

"Come on, Ethan. One dance isn't going to hurt" Seth told me.

"With you it is. And if there's anyone I'll dance with it's with Alyssa" I rolled my eyes.

I want to dance with one person and that's with my girl.

The last thing I want to do is dance with someone like Seth.

"Please, Ethan. Just one dance. I promise that I'll leave after we're done" Seth begged.

I bit the inside of my cheek, having an inner debate with myself.

On one hand I'm tempted to say no and just walk away or ignore him.

On the other hand, it is just one dance.

He's not asking me to go with him somewhere and he sure as hell ain't asking for more.

And if I dance with him then maybe I'll get lucky and he really will leave me alone.

Dear lord...

"Fine. But after this I expect you to leave me alone" I groaned.

Seth grinned happily and nodded his head.

He held his hand out for me to take which I, reluctantly, took.

Something tells me I might regret but that I'm gonna try not to dwell too much on it.

I stood up from the chair I was sitting on and allowed Seth to lead me to the dance floor.

When we got there I wrapped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around my waist.

He tried pulling me closer to his body but I forcefully pulled back from him.

It's bad enough I agreed to dance with him the last thing I want is to be even closer to him.

It's not happening.

Seth sighed at my actions but, thankfully, didn't say anything.

Neither of us said anything as we slowly swayed to the music.

Awkward silence filled the air between us but that is to be expected.

One wants this while the other, me, wants this to be over as soon as possible.

"This is nice, isn't it?" Seth asked.

"Whatever floats your boat" I rolled my eyes.

This would be amazing if I was dancing with my girl and not someone I hated more than anything.

"Speaking of boats, do you remember that trip my dad took us on in the summer?" Seth asked.

"How could I not?" I asked.

During the summer, before the girls and I would enter the school year as sophomores, Seth's parents arranged to go on a boat trip.

Seth's parents asked my parents if I could come since Seth wanted me there.

Plus, they really liked me since they thought I was a good influence on Seth than his other friends.

My parents agreed to let me go and I did.

I spent a week on the boat trip with Seth and his family.

And, as much as I hate to admit this, I had tons of fun.

"Remember how scared you were when we went swimming in the ocean?" Seth asked.

"It's not my fault. I never went swimming that deep in the ocean, it made me nervous" I defended.

"I get it but you have to admit that it was funny" Seth grinned.

"For you maybe" I grumbled.

Seth laughed and I rolled my eyes at him, trying but failing to stop my lips from twitching upwards.

Unfortunately, Seth noticed and a smug look appeared on his face.

"It brings back good memories, huh?" Seth asked.

"Whatever floats your boat" I scoffed.

"Oh, come on. Don't lie to yourself. It brought back good memories" Seth grinned.

We stopped dancing in order to look at each other and I pulled away from him.

"We had good memories, Seth. But in case you forgot, that's what they are. Just memories. Because you ruined everything between us. Remember?" I asked.

The smugness on Seth's face disappeared and was replaced with sadness.

Something he doesn't get to feel, something he shouldn't be allowed to feel.

Especially when my heart was the one that got broken, not his.

"Ethan, you don't know how much I regret what I did" Seth sighed.

"Spare me the lies, please" I rolled my eyes.

"They aren't lies, Ethan. I really do regret what I did" Seth told me.

"But you did it anyway and you shattered my heart into a million pieces" I scowled.

Memories of that night are slowly resurfacing in my head and I want nothing more than for it to stop.

Because I've gotten over it and I don't need a reminder of what happened in the past.

I turned around to leave but Seth grabbed my arm, stopping me.

"What can I do to make it up to you? What can I do to show you that I want to make things right?" Seth asked.

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing" I told him.

There's nothing he can do or say that'll make things right.

Not when I've moved on from him and want nothing to do with him.

I tried yanking my arm out of Seth's grip but he refuses to let me go and that irritates me.

Suddenly, he does something that makes me want to kill him.

I yelped in surprise when he suddenly pulls me closer to him and our clothed chests are pressed against each others.

He wraps an arm around my waist and...

My eyes widen when I feel his lips being pressed onto mine.

It takes me a second to process what he's doing.

He's kissing me.

Seth is kissing me.

What the actual fuck?!

I don't hesitate to react and slap him hard across the face and shove him away from me.

I watch as he stumbles backwards, nearly falling to the ground, and brings a hand up to touch the cheek I slapped.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" I yelled.

I quickly wipe my lips, wanting nothing more than to get the feeling of his lips off of mine.

"Ethan, what the hell?" Seth asked, clearly mad.

"No, don't you dare get mad at me for slapping and shoving you. Because you have no right to be mad. The only one that has the right to be mad right now is me. What the hell was that shit you just pulled?!" I scowled.

How dare he thinks that he has the right to be mad?

The only one that has the right to be mad in this situation is me.

He's the one that kissed me without my consent.

He's the one that kissed me when he knows that it's wrong.

Especially when I have a girlfriend and she's the only one that's allowed to kiss me.

"Proving to you that I regret what I did. Proving to you that I still love you and want you in my life" Seth explained.

"Don't ever pull that shit again, do you hear me?" I asked.

"Ethan-" Seth started but I cut him off.

"No, I don't want you coming near me again. Don't look at me, don't talk to me, don't even breathe the same air as me. Just stay the hell away from me, got it?" I asked.

Without waiting for him to say anything I spun around and stormed off.

I didn't stop until I was out of the barn.

I tucked myself away in a far corner and leaned my back against the wall.

Before I knew it tears were streaming down my face and a sob threatened to come out but I covered my mouth with my hand.

My knees felt weak but I was doing everything I could not to crumble to the ground.

God, why the hell did he do that?

Why the hell did he kiss me?

Why the hell did he come back?

Why the hell didn't he just stay away from Rosewood?

Why the hell did he come near me, acting as if we're on good terms, and try to get us to be friends again?

We stopped being friends a long time ago.

Hell, we stopped being...that a long time ago.

But he just had to reappear back into my life and start things.

He's making me remember every good and bad thing we went through.

For god sake, he's making me remember every hurtful word he said to me that night.

And I hated it the same way I hate him.

God, why didn't he just...

"Ethan?".

I felt my eyes widen and I whipped my head around to the person that called out to me.

Fortunately, it wasn't Seth.

Because if it was I would've started beating on him and I sure as hell wouldn't stop.

It was Alyssa.

Who was standing across from me and was staring at me with nothing but concern in her eyes.

"Ethan, baby, what's wrong?" Alyssa asked, frowning.

She quickly rushed over to me and turned me around so that I was facing her.

She brought her hands up in order to cup the sides of my face.

"Baby, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" Alyssa asked.

"How did you know I was here?" I asked.

"When I got out of the bathroom I saw you storming off. You looked pissed so I decided to follow you to check on you" Alyssa explained.

My heart fluttered at her words.

Alyssa is always concerned about my wellbeing and will always follow after me just to check up on me.

It's like that day she got out of the taxi after seeing me have a panic attack and helped me.

It's one of the many things I lo...like about her.

"What's wrong, baby? Why are you crying? Did something happen?" Alyssa asked.

Oh, something definitely happened.

Something I never wanted to happen.

Something I should've prevented if I had just continued being stubborn and rejected Seth's offer to dance with him.

God, I'm so stupid for agreeing.

I looked directly into my girlfriends eyes and slowly leaned closer to press my forehead against hers.

Alyssa immediately leaned in to press hers against mine.

"Alyssa" I whispered.

"Yes, baby?" Alyssa asked.

"There's something you need to know. Something I have to tell you. You deserve to know" I told her.

I can't continue keeping this from her.

I just can't, not anymore.

It's time she knows so she can understand who exactly Seth James is to me.

And so she can understand why I hate him so much.
