The Journey Begins

I quickly gathered up my clothes, sorted them into two separate piles and shoved them into my suitcase. But, I felt like I was forgetting something else. Oh no! Sweet Pea! I should probably take him along with me just in case.

If I'm going to be away from home for quite a while, I might as well bring him with me. I snatched Sweet Pea from underneath my comforter, set him on top of all of my clothes, and shut the suitcase.

All of a sudden, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. "Ah!" I moaned. My insides felt as if they were going to turn into goo. "Ugh!" I groaned. A loud gurgling noise erupted from my stomach. "Maybe I should walk around for a while and stretch my legs." I thought.

I got up from my mattress and wandered around my room for a couple of minutes and sat back down. The pains in my stomach had stopped. "That's better." I sighed in relief.

There was a knock on my door. Frodo had stepped into the room to see if I had all of my things packed and ready to go. "Yeah, I have everything all ready."

I handed him my suitcase. "Are you nervous at all, my dear?" He asked politely. "Yes. I am. I've never done anything like this before and I've never gone anywhere with you outside of the Shire. I'm scared. I don't want to go. It's too dangerous."

Frodo patted me on the back reassuringly. "I understand, darling. Don't you worry about anything. I'm going to look after you and I'm going to make sure that nothing ever happens to you. I'm scared, too. But, we have no other choice. I know it's hard for the both of us but we have to be brave."

"It's not safe." I mumbled, covering my eyes with my hands.

"You'll be safe with me. I assure you. Nothing will happen to you. Nothing. I love you, dear. I love you so much."

Frodo reached over to give me a comforting hug. "Oh, Frodo. I love you, too." "I know." He whispered. "Here. Why don't I help you with your things?"

A couple minutes later, Frodo and I had gathered our belongings and we were ready to set out on the long journey. "Do you have everything you need? Do you have the Ring with you?" Asked Gandalf.

Frodo nodded his head in agreement. "Good." Said Gandalf.

"I'm ready." I said, nervously. "Where are we going?" I asked the old wizard. "You will make your way to Bree. I will meet you there at The Prancing Pony. Remember, you are being hunted by the servants of the Dark Lord so you must remember to be very careful. Do not let them get a hold of the Ring. If they do, Middle Earth will be doomed forever."

Before we set off to Bree, I heard the sound of Sam's voice from out of nowhere. Where was Sam? What was he doing?

Gandalf wandered into the living room, yanked him out from underneath the open window and thrashed him onto the table.

"Confound it all, Samwise Gamgee! Have you been eavesdropping?!" He shouted.

"I haven't been dropping no eaves sir, honest. I was just cutting the grass under the window there, if you follow me." Stuttered Sam.

"A little late for trimming the verge, don't you think?"

"I heard raised voices."

"What did you hear? Speak!"

"N-nothing important. That is, I heard a good deal about a ring, and a Dark Lord, and something about the end of the world, but... Please, Mr. Gandalf, sir, don't hurt me. Don't turn me into anything... unnatural."

"No...I have a better use for you."

"Sam? What are you doing?" I asked in confusion.

"Oh, Ms. Brianna. I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean any trouble or anything."

"Why were you listening to our conversation? It's not very polite to eavesdrop."

"I was just curious." Answered Sam, shakily.

"Too curious." Replied Gandalf in a gruff tone.

"What are you going to do with me, Mr. Gandalf?"

"You're coming along with Frodo and Brianna to Bree. Let us not waste anymore time. We must hurry."
