Strider

"Mr. Frodo! Something's happened!" Exclaimed Sam, bursting into the room.

Frodo woke up in a panic. "Sam, what happened?!"

"It's Mr. Pippin! He's told everyone your real name! You need to do something about it! You are in danger!"

"Oh, no!" Frodo cried out. Frodo burst out of the room and discovered that Pippin was sitting near a bunch of patrons and telling them Frodo's real name.

"Frodo Baggins! He's my cousin once removed from his mother's side and twice removed..."

"Pippin! No!"

Frodo ran hastily across the bar, trying to reach the younger hobbit, but Pippin had bumped into him, sending Frodo falling to the ground. The Ring flew into the air and landed on his finger, causing him to vanish into thin air. The patrons were bewildered and they panicked at the sight. Where did Frodo go?

Merry, Pippin and Sam were surprised as well. A couple of patrons started questioning the hobbits and the innkeeper, Barliman Butterbur, was blaming them for causing his customers to run off. "We did not know that that would happen. I think you're making a terrible mistake, sir." Pleaded Sam.

"I'm making a mistake?!" Barliman the Innkeeper shot Sam a dirty look and pointed a finger at him. "Look at what you've done, you young rascals! You've caused all of my customers to leave and they're all terrified all because of that little prank your friend pulled on us. Now, I'm going to have to ask you to...."

All of a sudden, Frodo ripped the ring off of his finger and he reappeared. A man, dressed in a black hood and a dirty coat grabbed his shoulder from behind him. "You drew far too much attention to yourself, Mister Underhill!"

The hooded man dragged a terrified Frodo to the hobbit's room, where I had been sleeping for a while now. The man did not notice me. Frodo did.

"What do you want?" Frodo asked the strange man.

"A little more caution from you. That is no trinket you carry." Said the man.

"I carry nothing." Said Frodo.

"Indeed." Said the man, walking towards the bedroom window. "I can avoid to be seen as I wish. But, to disappear entirely, that is a rare gift."

"Who are you?"

"Are you frightened?"

"Y-Yes."

"Not nearly frightened enough. I know what hunts you."

Sam, Merry and Pippin burst madly into the room, carrying knives and candlesticks and other sorts of things that they could use for weapons.

"Let him go, or I'll have you Longshanks!" Yelled Sam.

The man pulled a large, silver sword from his sheath and pointed it at Sam. He stared at Sam for a moment and placed the sword back in his sheath. "You have a stout little heart, little hobbit. But, that will not save you. You can no longer wait for the Wizard, Frodo. They are coming."

I was woken up by the voices in the room. I coughed hoarsely. Everything was a blur, but then I had regained my vision. I noticed the hooded man standing right next to the hobbits.

I lifted my finger weakly. "F-F-Frodo. Who....is..." I coughed even more. "That?"

Frodo turned toward the tall man and he had told him who I was, why I was there and why I was sick. The man was very surprised.

"Brianna. That is an odd name. Your friend has told me...."

"No, father. Not friend. Not...friend." "Father?"

"I adopted her." Muttered Frodo.

"You adopted a mortal child? That is very odd for a Hobbit to do such a thing." Said the man, stroking his chin. "Odd indeed. I didn't think that hobbits were capable of taking care of and raising mortal children. Why would you do such a thing?"

Frodo walked closer to me, holding both of my hands and stroking my hair back. "Because I love her. I love her."

"Frodo...I...Love...You...T-T-Too."

"I know, Brianna."
