~ BTYB Izuku running from Katsuki ~

"Just minutes ago, this street was filled by a fight between a deadly crook and a mugger able to turn invisible, but their clothes remained visible." A female reporter announced, her hand pointing to each place where the events took place. "As our Quirk professionalist, what do you have to say Horikoshi?"

"It is an interesting Quirk, to say the least, though it has a very disappointing drawback." A long-haired man with a medical mask and wide-framed glasses commented. "But what about that other guy?"

"The one who took the mugger down?" The reporter questioned, one hand holding a mic and the other on her hip.

"Yes," Horikoshi replied.

"So far, authorities have been unable to deduce exactly what kind of Quirk the crook has or even what they look like." She began, followed by blurry images of a hooded man. "All we know is that they have some sort of Emitter-type Quirk that allows them to kill someone with a single punch."

"Truly a formidable adversary," Horikoshi mused, writing down each aspect she had described. "Perhaps it is a mutation instead. Emitter-type Quirks aren't quite like you described this person's power to be, they're flashy and are usually ranged."

"It seems you're right," she hummed, looking away from the camera while a video played next to her head on the screen. "But from what I can see, the crook can stab someone with claws and reach into their chest, killing them on the spot."

"Reaching into their chest?" Horikoshi repeated, writing it down. "Maybe they can reach into someone's chest and grab their heart. It's possible, though there are very few Quirks that have dealt with phasing through matter."

Hearing the scratching of a pencil against paper, the female reporter took out her earpiece and looked toward the camera. "To all the people at home, Horikoshi will look further into this crook, but for now, Toriyama, please tell us about what's going on in the world?"

Disappearing from the screen, the female reporter was replaced by another man wearing glasses. "Well, it seems everyone is crazy about Avengers: Endgame recently. Have any of you at home seen it?"

"I hope Izuku doesn't run into that crook," Inko muttered to herself, turning off her television. Clasping her hands together, she looked at the coffee table with a blank stare, only expressing her thoughts.

Looking over the table, she grabbed a thin notebook that was slightly torn at the corners. Opening up the book revealed a few stained pages dulled in color by time. Yet every single page was filled to the brim with drawings and notes, both quite crude. Flipping through the pages, Inko read the notes, admiring the details that were written about each hero.

Stopping near the middle of the book, she left dropped it on the table and looked at the ground. Blinking as fast as she could, she barely had enough strength to hold back her tears, only allowing them to swell up on the edges of her eyelids. Then she got up and shuffled over to the hallway, walking until she reached a door near the end of the hall. Turning the knob of the door, it creaked open and revealed a dozen boxes.

Grabbing one of the boxes, Inko opened it and reached in, feeling something soft and fuzzy. Pulling it out, she held onto a onesie with an All Might style, its bright colors were hardly dulled though it had some dust on it. Nonetheless, Inko hugged it and finally let her tears stream down her face, flowing like a river leading to a waterfall.

"Izuku," she sobbed, cracking her eyes open to look further into the box. Putting the onesie back into the box, she pulled out a few drawings and posters of All-Might, replaced by newer or rarer posters that Izuku hung up on his wall. "You can't be a hero... I should have helped you..."

Setting all of the items down, she sorted out the box and closed it before leaving the room. Closing the door behind her, she wiped away her tears, staining the sleeves of her sweater slightly.

"Kaa-san! I'm home!" Izuku shouted throughout the apartment. Upon hearing him, Inko jogged over to the living room and watched Izuku drop a few letters on the coffee table. Then, he grabbed onto the notebook, admiring the big and bold name of All Might written in pen. "Why did you take my notebook from my room?" Izuku asked, turning his head to face his mother.

With shaky eyes, Inko clasped her hands and turned her gaze to the ground. "Um... I was looking for a... birthday present," she stuttered out.

"But my birthday's in July," Izuku countered, closing the book and holding it in his left hand.

"I... wasn't sure how long I needed to get the gift," Inko muttered her gaze still lowered toward the ground.

"Kaa-san, you aren't a good liar," Izuku said before she could say anything else. "But I have to get ready for school. Apparently, Nomura has a dormitory system and I have to get there at least a day before school starts."

"Huh?" Inko tilted her head, unclasping her hands. "You have to leave?"

"Don't worry, we still have two weeks before then." The freckled boy said with a smile, grabbing one of the letters. "Plus, Aunt Mitsuki sent you a few coupons for free spa days."

At the mention of free spa days, Inko seemed to light up as she walked over to grab the envelope Izuku was talking about. In it was three tickets, each worth one free trip to the spa that she would savor each time.

Opening another letter, Izuku pulled out some papers from the academy which he would read later. Leaving the rest of the letters on the coffee table, he went into his room, leaving Inko to plan the next two weeks freely. Meanwhile, he plopped down his backpack and shoved the notebook in his hand back onto the shelf where all of his other hero notebooks were placed.

'Shiori, we have two weeks to savor. What's the plan?' Izuku asked, watching the demon woman warp through his body to enter the realm. Nothing had changed about her appearance, though she seemed to be sleeping quite often.

"Well, you can always help a few people and grab a few souls when you can." She said, making three flames appear in her left hand. "These souls have very few aspects I can meddle with. Perhaps an opponent with a better regenerative factor would be useful or one with more offensive capabilities."

'You can't do anything with the lizard-man, invisible guy, or that x-ray person?' Izuku questioned, recalling the uses of those Quirks from previous fights. 'Invisibility or X-ray vision would be a nice power.'

"You have yet to understand how I give you powers," Shiori interrupted, grabbing his forearm pressing down on the center of the inner side, causing his claws to pop out of his arm. "I had to combine the main Quirk, the claws, with a slight liquid manipulation ability, material gravitation, and a healing factor. A new power requires at least one base and two abilities to add onto it, otherwise, the combination of souls is too weak and will only be a temporary ability."

'Wait, that means you can create temporary abilities for me, right?' Izuku asked, pulling out a notebook to write the information down.

"Yes, though it will be incredibly painful." The demon woman answered, releasing the pressure she placed on Izuku's forearm, allowing the claws to be sheathed into his arm. "Since such a small combination would last barely an hour, I have to mold your body while you are awake and not asleep. So it hurts much more with your body being forced to adapt to the changes while your conscious is active."

'I feel like a biology course would be useful for understanding this,' Izuku commented, writing down the effects a temporary power would have on his body while he spoke.

"I would advise to pick up the basics. Though your imagination would be better to help create a basis for certain powers." She replied, looking over the notes Izuku had written, checking for anything he might have missed. "But I believe it is time for your workout, Little One."

'Right, I'll just have Kaa-san put off dinner for a little while.' He replied, closing his notebook and grabbing a small bag full at the edge of his bed. Leaving his room, he bid goodbye to Inko.

~ BTYB Inko at the spa ~

Two weeks later, Izuku was laying in bed and one look to the side told him it was barely five in the morning. He just laid on his bed, his hands brushing against his horns, feeling the seven indents that formed rings, reaching from the base of his forehead to the hair above his ears. Rising from his position, he reached toward the ceiling and stretched out his back, hearing the pops when the air between his bones was released.

Satisfied by the sound, he stood up and made his way over to the door. Making sure the door creaked as little as he could make it, he wandered into the bathroom, taking care of his hygienic needs before returning to his room. Turning to his closet, he took out a navy blue blazer and pair of pants, along with a matching tie and white button-up shirt.

"This is my new uniform," Izuku muttered to himself, holding up the blazer in front of him. Looking over the article of clothing, he believed it would serve as a loose fit on him, even though he had given the company a few old measurements. Though he seemed to observe the emblem on the upper-left corner of the blazer more.

Resting on the blazer was a six-pronged star, full of curves and points, though not quite any straight lines. Combing his thumb over the emblem, Izuku felt a smooth surface, no blemish or margin of error in its craftsmanship.

Nonetheless, he slipped on each article of clothing before packing up the last of his belongings. Grabbing a suitcase that had been torn at the edges, Izuku left his room with his large yellow bag carried on his shoulders. But before he could even step into the living room, he heard Inko shout, "Breakfast is ready!"

So, he dropped his bags by the door and sat down at the table, calmly taking a bite from the plate of food he was served. Before long, Inko had found something to talk about.

"What do you think of Nomura Academy?" She asked, eyeing the new uniform Izuku had adorned.

Swallowing the food in his mouth, Izuku answered, "I think it's an excellent school, but the students have to focus on studies all the time."

"You don't think you'll have any time to update your notebooks?" Inko interrupted, speculating at what his next thought would be.

"Well... yeah," he agreed, keeping his gaze directed toward his food. 'I'd rather be out helping people.' He thought to himself, brushing a hand against his bushy hair while he picked up a scrap of food.

"I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to yourself. You've always been smarter than your class." The green-haired mother beamed, smiling at her distracted son. "Plus, it'll be nice to make some new friends, won't it?"

"Of course," he agreed again, touching the tip of his horn and finding it almost sharp enough to pierce his skin. "It'd be like a fresh start there. No one I know and everyone to get to know."

"There you go," Inko spoke, approving of his way of thinking.

"But I don't want to go," he said suddenly, incurring a moment of silence between the family.

"Huh?"

"I don't want to go so far," he clarified. "I don't want to leave you alone like how Tou-san did." Dropping her utensils, Inko closed her eyes and stood up. "Did I say something wrong?" Izuku asked, watching her shuffle over to the other side of the table.

Then, she hugged him. Her arms over his and holding him against her chest. Staying like that for a few seconds, Inko eventually broke the hug and just held Izuku by the shoulders. "Make sure you call."

"I'll call you when I get there," he reassured, a tear threatening to fall out of his right eye.

"And call every Friday," she added, tears beginning to stream down her face already. "Now, one last hug." She ordered, proceeded by Izuku standing up and wrapping his arms around her. At that moment, she muttered the phrase, "I love you."

"I love you too, Kaa-san." The freckled boy replied back. "I wish I could stay here with you."
