Chapter 30

Asmodeus brings out a gold bowl and what looks like a dagger. A dagger very similar to the one Aris used to stab Mal. He places it besides me; as he starts to amble around, he looks at me. I kind of knew I gave myself to him, but I wonder about Liana.

“Liana, where is she? Did you set her free?” I ask.

He continues to amble around; “You see boy, she never left.”

“You…you monster!” I continue, “Where is she!”

“I can’t say.” He states.

“What about Karina?” I ask worrying about her.

“She will be dealt with; but, right now you are my upmost priory.” He says.

I’m extremely angry, but I cannot get a firm control of my arms and legs.

“You not getting my powers!” I yell.

He then starts to laugh ill will. Asmodeus then stops ambling around and comes close.

“You see boy, it was never your powers.” He says.

I’m totally baffled; if it was not my powers than what. He then all of sudden rips my tuxedo shirt to exposed my chest; he then grabs the dagger and starts slicing on my chest. The feeling of the insurmountable pain from hearing the cold blade slicing my skin apart is so hard to describe. Evening closing my eyes, I scream and cry out loud just because the pain is so irksome. I even try to budging these stupid rings that are holding my hands, but I cannot.

I scream and cry loud again as he continues to rip through my skin. All I can do is forced to go through this unbearable torment. As if this torture has been hours, it lasted only seconds. The screaming and the pain are making me woozy.

However, Asmodeus looks at my right arm first and then slashes my wrist with dagger; I can only bare the scream from within. As I glance over to my right wrist, blood is beginning to drip rapidly inside the gold bowl which is lowered below my wrist. The disorientation I’m experiencing is getting worse not just from the slicing on my chest, but on my wrist.

Glancing back at my wrist, I’m losing blood badly. I realize my powers were not his reason for coming after me. All this time, he wanted my blood. I notice Asmodeus walking towards my left wrist. Before I let him slit it, I need to know the reason why.

“Asmodeus.” I barely say while I’m still dizzy.

“If you want to know, your blood is crucial for our survival.” He says cryptically.

“Why?” I question.

“Blood from a Devos is a rare and precious commodity. Your blood will be used to resurrect our Sovereign.”

I look back at him to figure out why my blood is the key to bring back to what Mal mentioned, ‘The Sovereign of Hell’ or who I known from folklore as Lucifer. But before I have enough strength to say anything, the blood loss is really putting a toll on me. Losing strength by every blood drop on my right wrist, I’m now in major risk of losing more when Asmodeus decides to move on to my left wrist.

However, I do not have the strength I need to fight and then without caution, I suddenly black out.

***

I wake up where all I can feel is cold. I start to get up where all around me is an all white room. I do not know if I’m dead or what. Checking around everywhere, I start to walk around. Wondering if I’m the only one in this strange world, I start to shout.

“Hello!?” I yell. “Hello, is anyone out there?”

Continuing to walk around the white area, I start to realize I may be here all by myself. Come on, this cannot be. I cannot be all alone in this place. The first thing is where is this place? Observing the area once again, I want to know why I’m here.

“Am I dead!?” I yell once again. “Why am I here?”

As thought I was going to fear total hopeless, I start to hear a voice.

A very familiar voice.

“You’re not dead.” The voice says.

I check around to see where that came from until I eventually notice a figure coming by me. I do not believe it. It is Mal.

“Caden.” He says almost about to smile, but just like him he rarely does.

Not knowing if this is all an illusion, I walk towards him. I carefully touch his black leather jacket and his chest to see if he is a ghost or a manifestation. However, as I touch him as it seems legit. I quickly swarm him with a bro hug.

“Are you alive?” I ask.

“No.” He answers unclearly.

“Whatever the case, I’m glad you’re back.” I say.

“No Caden, I’m not back.” He says as he steps back.

“Wait, what you mean you’re not back?” I continue, “I can see you?!”

Mal places his right hand onto my left shoulder.

“You’re a special kid, don’t forget that.” He states.

“I disappointed you.” I say.

“No, you didn’t.” He says.

“What are you talking about; I let my emotions get the best of me allowing my other half to take control; I revealed my secret to my best friend who wines getting abducted by Asmodeus; and I don’t even know if I’m still in the Underworld lying on a slab dying.” I explain.

I notice the white room around us and wonder if this is limbo. “Is this limbo?”

“No.” He replies.

“Well Mal, I guess I lose.” I say as I just turn around to walk endlessly knowing all hope is lost.

“Caden, you can’t accept that.” He states. “You are not a loser.”

“Well I’m dying, that is what real.” I continue, “You’re right you’re still dead and soon enough everyone I every care about will join you.”

“Right there, you’re losing your faith. Don’t.” He says.

“I don’t know what to do; I now know Asmodeus wants my blood to resurrect the Sovereign.” I state.

I notice Mal surprised as he looks down a bit. I wonder if he knew about this.

“You knew?”

“No, I knew Asmodeus and those other demonic hellions are trying to bring back the Sovereign from his prison. I didn’t know they want your blood.” He says.

“Well, my blood is a precious commodity. Can I really win?”

“Yes!” He yells. Mal then steps forward. “I wouldn’t had helped trained you and helped you controlled your powers if I didn’t knew you had what it takes to win.”

I’m starting to think about what he is saying. He could be right. Just like Oxley believing in Desmond, Mal has always believed in me as well with Karina.

“I’m not the only one.” He says as he then turns his attention to something behind me. I turn around to see what he is looking. And to my surprise is another person walking this way. Mal told me ‘he wasn’t the only one to believe in me.’

The person heads this way as I notice he has black brown, short messy hair; his eyes are just like mines…light blue; his skin very fare and tan. He is wearing a burgundy open collar, dress shirt and a grey jacket and pants. I’m sort of lost in words.

The man stops and is staring at me just in awestruck.

“Look at you!” He says happily smiling.

I’m just standing there looking at him confused, but looking at his eyes. He has to be; Dantailon, my father.

“Dad?!” I say choking up. “Thanks for the journal.”

He soon smiles after I told him that; and realizes that is him. I run to and give him a hug. I cannot believe this I’m hugging my father. The one who I never thought I would ever see. I never knew how he was, and what he looks like, but after this everything has changed. As soon as we finish hugging, he looks at me with such a proud look.

“You’re doing great, kid.”

“I…I’m losing hope.”

“You can’t lose hope. You still have faith. As long as your mother, Mal, and I have faith in you, you can’t lose.” He says, “Don’t ever forget that.”

“I won’t.” I say heeding to what he says. I’m doing my best in trying to get rid of the tears coming down my eyes, but to see the two men who have helped me so much. This is what I need.

“Now focus, son. Remember these words, power can be control, but it is not limited.” Dantailon says.

As I remember those words, I look to see Mal joining the conversation.

“Believe in yourself Caden, we still believe in you.” He continues, “Keep in mind as well, you’re in control; Take control!” He demands.

“Yes! I will do all that.” I say.

I look back at my father, who for the first time has seen his son grown up to a young man. Power can be control, but not limited; and to make sure to be in control and take it. That has been my motto, and lately I lost it. Seeing Dantailon and Mal, it brought me back. I now have hope.

“Father, one more thing.” I say

“What is it son?”He ponders.

“Will you and Mal be watching over me?” I ask.

“I always will.” Mal says.

I see Mal answering that, and then I look at my father.

“Don’t worry about me son, just along I’m in your heart. I will always watch over and love you.” Dad finally replies.

Then all of the sudden everything starts to get bright and then as I stand here, I notice Mal and my dad fading away in distance.

“I love you son!” Dad shouts.

“And be in control!” Mal exclaims.

“Mal!” yelling out his name; then I yell out, “Dad!” I even reach my hand out to see if they can touch it, but then I hear one more thing from my father.

“You always have it, son, show him. Show him who you are!”

And then out of the blue, they completely fade into the white and then I suddenly wake up still bound to the slab; and with my right wrist slit and noticing Asmodeus is about slit onto my left. I can hear Asmodeus’ sly voice.

“Goodbye boy, this is the end.” He says.

I start to think about what I heard from Dantailon and Mal. The reason how I saw them is bizarre to me. However, the words they told me is still pumping me up. Just as when Asmodeus is about to cut open my left wrist, there is an explosion behind him.

The explosion comes from what looks like the entryway. Asmodeus looks a bit concerned and probably pissed that it he could not cut my other wrist. As I can look closely, two people entering after the smoke and dust. To my relief, Desmond appear and has someone else with him; Liana. Looking at her, she looks great. I’m so glad she is safe and even gladder Desmond found her and then found me.

“Sorry, did we miss the party.” Desmond says. “We couldn’t make it earlier; we had to get away from a horde of flying demon freaks.”

“Caden!” Liana noticing me trapped in the table.

I then notice Asmodeus walking towards them, “You never learn do you.” He says.

“Let Caden go!” Desmond demands him as he holds out his wand pointing it at Asmodeus.

“Alright.” Asmodeus says, but then moves his hand fast.

The hand swipe creates a huge force that pushes Desmond back; Desmond ends up getting forced back hitting his head on the chamber wall. Demsond soon falls to the ground unconscious.

“Desmond!” I try to yell. I glance at Liana gasping from what she saw.

“Now you my dear!” Asmodeus says to her.

“You stay away from her!” I yell out again.

Ignoring me, Asmodeus suddenly maneuvers his hand which creates a choking field around Liana’s neck. Liana trying to scream, but she can’t. She falls on her knees.

Seeing her getting hurt, “No!” I yell again, “No!”

Asmodeus continues to hold his grip onto Liana’s neck; Liana cannot breathe because of him strangling her and he is not even putting his hands on her neck.

“Liana!” I shout out her name; she keeps on looking at me, but cannot for long because of the choking is soon causing her to close her eyes. I then look to Desmond still unconscious.

I look at my friends helpless. Then I turn my back head around staring at the chamber roof, seeing I’m helpless. They are dying, and I cannot do anything. However, as I think about my friends, I start to think about what my father and what Mal told me.

I remembered my dad told me to ‘Show him. Show him who I am.’ I close my eyes as I reminisce about Mal’s words, ‘keep and take control.’ If all the times I need to work in unison with my demonic side, this is it. As I take another look at my friends, Demsond still unconscious but then I see Liana is starting to lose consciousness.

Seeing my friends render helpless, I start to feel frustration forming inside me. The last time I felt frustration, my demonic side took control. However, I want to see if I can channel all of my frustration on Asmodeus. I feel this can help control my demonic side and use it as one. Show Asmodeus, who I am; and quite possibly myself.

I close my eyes once again and this time, feeling the frustration. I need to channel. My dad said ‘power can be control but it is limited.’ I feel what he is trying to say is that I have these powers, but the greatest power is from within. I feel it is limited. Channeling my anger, I start to feel my demonic essence working with me. It seems my blood is pumping a lot of fury.

I open back up my eyes to see the rings holding on me; I begin to notice the black vine marks scrolling down both my arms. I can feel the anger and I can feel my demonic side. Focusing just on Asmodeus, I begin to scream. And I believe I found the crack. Feeling the rush of power, I break hold of the rings.

I sit up on the slab as Asmodeus notices me. He lets go of the hold on Liana; freeing her of the choke. I notice she is still conscious somewhat, but I look back at Asmodeus, who looks stunned.

As Asmodeus is about to hold out his right hand to me, I quickly rebuttal with a telekinetic shield blast that knocks Asmodeus off his feet. The blast knocks him across the chamber room. He falls to the ground a bit hard. I get off the slap to stand fully back up a bit woozy still with open wounds on me.

Asmodeus sitting himself up to look at me; “I’m not done with you, boy.”

“For you, it’s over Asmodeus.” I say.

Asmodeus can only smile maliciously. I look at him just smiling it down, but thinking about my father and Mal. Seeing that their live were gone because of him. I almost saw Oxley gone; Desmond and Liana were next. Enough is enough.

Feeling the anger within me, I look at both of my hands; then I look back at Asmodeus. As he is about to get up, I realize he needs to be stop now. Using my anger as my trigger, I can feel my demonic side joining forces with me.

Asmodeus sees me with a smuggest grin, but then I let him know one last thing about me. Thinking about Dantailon and Mal.

“I’m in control!” I yell.

Then all of the sudden, feeling a burst of frustration I soon hold out both arms. And seeing the black vine marks, I feel all of the anger and with controlling the demonic side enough; I channeled the energy into a huge shock throughout my body. I immediately start throwing electric currents out of my hands.

The currents hits its mark; Asmodeus. He begins to be severely electrocuted. I can hear his pain; and as I let go of my complete anger it is going through the electricity I’m continuing to fire straight at Asmodeus. Soon the amount of the electricity continues to rattle Asmodeus; he feels the pain.

He begins to rattle. The flow of power I’m unleashing causes Asmodeus to levitate in the air. The continuous voltage goes through Asmodeus’ body. All the anger I have on him is channeling these currents.

Then over a minute and half, I finally let go. The angry fades. The electric currents stop. Asmodeus soon falls to the ground hard. He is barely moving at all. I walk closely to check on him.

Asmodeus looks completely ill fated, his face disfigured and his skin almost burn to a crisp. He is in such a weaken state; until he starts—barely—moving his eyes; and then he starts talking a bit because of his injury.

“You really are more powerful than I anticipated. But this isn’t over; you have no idea what you have done, boy.” He states in his final words.

I can only stare at him; and then after forewarning, he smirks off and then he starts to turn into ashes. The ash-like Asmodeus perishes. I cannot believe. I actually stand back a little to witness the death of Asmodeus. This is the best thing that ever happened to me. The demon who have haunted me for months; who actually been trying to get me since I was born; who killed my father; had Mal killed. He almost killed my friends; and even me. But it’s finally over.

He is dead. Asmodeus is finally gone.
