Chapter 10

After my first day of training, Jellal had become quite serious while Rin had become... stand off-ish. Every chance he had he'd try to one up Jellal, leaving the poor blueberry confused and irritated. Not a good combination. At least, not for me...

When Rin would get annoyed with Jellal, he would give Jellal nasty tasting food. When Jellal got nasty tasting food, I got continuous work outs. That did not stop. For hours. And hours. And hours. It was... continuous...

Not to mention, the fact that they both complained about each other to me was getting on my nerves. Rin didn't stay with us all day (since he had cram school), but I was with Jellal all day. I learned a lot about him.

I learned that he hated blueberries, peanut butter, worms, teal curtains, and brown doors.  Not to mention, Rin's presence.

"He reminds me of teal curtains in a house infested with worms bribed by peanut butter with all brown doors." Jellal grumbled.

"Thinking about Rin? That's cute," I teased as he continued to go on and on about Rin relating to things he disliked. He was making me do sit ups, and was sitting next to me, making sure I didn't cheat (like I normally do when he wasn't looking). Who enjoys doing more than ten sit ups?

"What would be cute is you planking for 2 hours straight," Jellal tried to sound threatening, but blushed after he he realized what he'd said. Though, I was blushing right away.

"You are very dumb for someone so smart," I said, facing away from Jellal until the heat in my cheeks subsided.

"Cryptic," He responded as he began to lean back and look at the sky. "You see that ugly gray cloud?" He asked me.

I stopped doing sit ups and looked up at the cloud he mentioned. Was he going to say something deep and meaningful. "Yeah," I said, wondering what he was going to say.

"It's ugliness..." He started dramatically, "Reminds me of Rin." He finished bluntly.

I sighed in frustration and continued my workout. That was so deep and meaningful. I rolled my eyes at my own thoughts. How did this guy trick the judges of the Grand Magic Games?

...

While waiting for lunch (and taking a break), Jellal and I talked. Even more. We were laying next to each other, talking about the clouds and other dumb things.

"That cloud," I said, pointing at a puffy white cloud, "Was me before I learned magic, and that one," I pointed at the gray 'Rin' cloud, "Is me now."

"That doesn't make sense; magic is beautiful, Rin is ugly." Jellal said without blinking an eye.

"Hey!" I slapped his chest lightly with my arm, "Don't say that about people, okay?"

"Eh," He responded, hopefully joking. "But, seriously, magic isn't something that makes you sad unless you use it that way; there is no way in hell- no offense -" Jellal caught himself, "That magic is at fault. Honestly, it would have been you or your friends."

"Out of those options..." I thought, "I'd say it was me. I only started feeling upset because my magic couldn't compete like the rest of everyone else's..."

"Not your magic," Jellal started, "But-"

"Me. I know, but I don't know how else to put it." I cut him off.

"Sure..." He trailed off.

"Your goddess has arrived!" A sudden cheer erupted. Rin was here with lunch. So much for cram school.

"If you mean you are feminine, I agree." Jellal said in a bored tone as he helped me up.

"No; I just find goddesses to be more beautiful. Like me," Rin smiled with his pointed teeth. I couldn't help but think of Natsu...

"Oh, honey," Jellal began to cry sarcastically to Rin, "How did you know?! This is my favorite!" He then started chasing an unwilling Rin, trying to hug him. So much for 'hate.'

"I brought it because I know Lucy likes it!" Rin flushed, tired of being chased by Jellal.

"Is that so?" Jellal crossed his arms.

"It is. Got a problem?" Rin crossed his arms and clashed foreheads with Jellal.

"Of course I do." Jellal fought back.

I sighed and picked up the preserved food where Rin had set it. It was the same thing he had made for me on my first night at the dorms. I silently thanked him as I began to eat.

As I ate, they argued. They threw insults back and forth until they had both gone a little too far.

"Oh, so you think I'm weak because I'm not a Mage?" Rin was dead serious with his tail flicking in anger.

"No; I think you're weak because you have no hope of beating one," Jellal said in an almost bored tone.

"Why I outta-" Rin held back his arm, readying to punch a prepared Jellal.

"Eat!" I finished Rin's sentence and pushed my way between the two. I shoved a spoonful of rice into Rin's mouth, then the same into Jellal's. Jellal ate the rice, but spit afterwards. He probably only did that to annoy Rin.

"You both need to quit that," I told Jellal as he ate. I was already finished and Rin was sulking in my tent.

"He's the one that tried to punch me," Jellal defended himself.

"You guys are just as bad as Natsu and Gray," I sighed.

"Don't compare us to them," Jellal said a little too sharply. "I know it makes you sad." He said a little quieter.

"Only when you put meaning behind it." I responded just as quietly.

After a few moments of silence Jellal said something to me, but I wasn't paying attention.

"Huh?" I asked in confusion.

"I said that we should go back to the dorms and ask Mephisto for a key to a place that's safe for us to use magic. I think you're ready now. I'll be leaving first." Jellal said and got up.

"So I have to pack all this up and bring it back? Alone?" I whined.

"No," He said, "Rin will help you."

And with that, he sprinted away, into the (correct) direction of the dorms. "I guess I'll have to give him a pep talk too," I said to myself as I walked towards my tent.

"Hey, Rin, we need to-" I stopped talking when I saw how annoyed he looked. Like a pouting child.

"Need to what?" He asked harshly.

"Pack up everything and go back. Jellal said we aren't camping anymore." I crossed my arms.

"Jellal this, Jellal that; it's all you say." He mimicked me.

"No; that's all you ever say. All you do is complain about him. Now, get up and help me pack everything up." What was wrong with him.

"And what if I don't want to?" The dickhead asked.

"Then go," I snapped, "Are you really so upset with him that you'd take it out on me?"

"..."

"Wow," I shook my head and turned around, ready to stomp back to the dorms.

All of a sudden, Rin was holding my wrist. "I'm sorry; please stay..." He mumbled, blushing as he held my wrist.

"Fine," I sighed, hoping I wasn't blushing too much.

"Okay! So, where do we start?" He asked as he started smiling again.

"I trust you to pack up my tent, and I'll pack up Jellal's." I said, not wanting to know what Rin would do to the things in Jellal's tent.

"O-Kay!" Rin saluted playfully.

I laughed as I left my tent and went to Jellal's. I stopped laughing when I walked through the zipper door.

"M-Mom?!"
