Prologue

Prologue

The young fae boy ran up the steps with lots of intention. So much so that if you were to witness him, you'd think that he was in the middle of an emergency, or some other great event. Alas, the boy was merely late with the coffee his master had ordered.

One does not disappoint their master. Especially one like him.

He got to the final step, and the large mahogany door with a diamond inscribed in the center, a pearl set within. The two perfect shapes, one placed in the other, the symbol of perfection and justice. Of life and beauty.

He knocked on the door, quickly fixing his shirt before it opened. Father Gon appeared, the magi looking down upon him with a sad smile, his kaleidoscope eyes going from dark red to deep blue to sparkling purple.

"Ah, there you are Brother Ken. Please, hurry up and get in."

Ken stepped through the entryway, into Father Gon's personal chambers. The huge room was sparkling with precious jewels and furniture, great art and pillars. Tapestries depicting ancient battles and a gigantic woman, arms spread wide, a burning white light emanating from her hands and body.

Father Gon motioned him over to a large board with papers posted across every inch of the thing. He grabbed his hot coffee, gently blowing off the steam. The magi was a very elegant man who wore only the finest of clothes. His diamond and pearl ring was probably worth more than his life. He pointed at a picture. "This man is very troubling. I wish we could find him, and eliminate him. But there are, unfortunately, more pressing matters to attend to."

Ken eyed the picture. The magi was blonde, skin white yet tan, and looked hardened from either war or just too many fights. Ken didn't like him. "Who is he, Father Gon?"

"A magi named Triton. The resistance leader, who believes he can stop the Sleeping Witch." Father Gon laughed, his own hard features crinkling with an amused smugness. "One does not easily defeat Mother. She is far too powerful for some low magi. But as of right now, he is the most dangerous creature set against us."

Ken judged the magi named Triton. Why would anyone want to fight the glory of the Witch? His mother, and shining radiance. The gift of immortality for all seemed like the only thing worth fighting for.

"He seems like an idiot," Ken said, then clamped his mouth shut. Probably not the wisest thing to say.

But Father merely laughed. "Yes. He shall fall. Just like all of our opponents. We are on the verge of victory. And nothing will stop us as we remake the world in our image."

Greatness for all. Eternal life for all. The Witch shall save us, and for our service give us more power and gifts than we can possibly imagine. Beauty will remake the world.

There was another picture of a man that caught his attention. "Father Gon, who is that?"

The man was dark looking, black hair, and though the picture was a shot from far away, he could almost make out black eyes, something he's never seen before. Father Gon didn't even glance at the picture, still examining Triton. "Him? He is a nobody. Some man named Ditto Night, a fool who I honestly owe a debt to."

Father Gon paused, as though he didn't want to say this next part. But he did anyways. "He is the Last Necromancer. And the man of death shall meet what he preaches."

What does a necromancer preach? The thought scared him. "I thought they died out."

"They basically are," said Father Gon, who smirked, still not looking at him. "But don't be troubled Brother Ken. After all,

"What can one necromancer do?"
