Chapter 1 - B

/in the name of the chapter there will be a 'B' or a 'K' for point of views. 'B' is Barzothomirr and 'K' is Kaiden.\

Contrary to popular belief, Hell isn't that hot. I mean, clearly the lava pits are, but the place in general isn't. It's like living in Florida, if parts of Florida were always covered in flame and if the sky was always red. It almost never rains here, because why the fuck would it need to? Not like Earth plants grow here anyway, the plants in Hell don't need water. The only times it rains is when an angel Falls (or when some stupid human decides to make a portal, but they never survive those), because they rip through our atmosphere.

Basically, the red sky is an illusionary barrier between Hell and Earth; there's a blue barrier "floor" between Heaven and Earth. Demons can create portals from Hell into Earth, very rarely do humans actually get their hands on an actual ritual to create a working portal to Hell; they usually find a ritual to force a demon through their own portal, not one that creates its own portal. And usually when humans do get a ritual that creates a portal, they get sucked in and die when they Fall. Humans can't handle breaking through Hell's atmosphere, so they just disintegrate, pretty much. But they still make it rain a little bit.

Not many demons actually know all this; I only know because I'm literally Lucifer's right hand man. I get to know almost all of what happens in Hell, and I am also in charge of giving punishments to the Damned and overseeing said punishments. But, in my free time, I'm also Lucifer's fuck-buddy, so that's fun. He gets lonely, as we all do, so I do my best to help him with it as kinkily (that a word?) as I possibly can. Which means it usually ended with one of us tied down the next morning, but whatever, it's totally worth it.

The only hard part of being Satan's fuck-buddy (hah, joke not intended) is getting up in the morning. Aside from being tied down. Lucifer is pretty clingy, that or he knows he's being annoying and is doing it on purpose.

Once I got out of the handcuffs - I've gotten good at that, getting out of things like handcuffs - I slowly sat up in bed, trying not to shift it too much. I stretched, rubbing one of my horns as I woke up more. I can feel my horns, they're pretty much hollow bones with just bundles of nerves connecting the rings. When they grow they also flake off a bit, like when humans shed their skin, just a bit faster and more noticeably.

I felt a hand on my shoulder blades as I went to stand up, turning my head to look over my shoulder. I smirked at Lucifer as he dragged his hand down my back.

"Where you goin' Princess?" He mumbled sleepily. His blond hair was extra messy right now, but knowing him he wouldn't do anything to fix it.

Lucifer didn't look like the demons here; which was because he used to be an angel, but whatever. His skin was lightly tanned and his hair was curly and bright blond. It was a little longer, as he was lazy on cutting it. His eyes were bright blue as well, and his physique was evenly toned and muscular. He looked like what all angels strive to be, before he Fell. Now he also has moderately thick horns that come from his hairline and curl in a semi-circle over his head a little bit, like a halo, and his wings are huge and covered in neat black feathers instead of white.

"I told you not to call me that," I chuckled. He pouted and curled his arm back over his face, grumbling. I smirked, leaning back to lay down on the bed again with my head on his chest and moving his arm away from his face. He hummed and kissed me, wrapping his arms around my torso and pulling me the rest of the way back onto the bed.

I smirked into his mouth, kissing him back for a minute and letting him pull me onto him before I pulled away again. "I gotta go," I hummed to him. He pouted at me again.

"Says who?" He complained.

"Said you when you promoted me," I chuckled at him and he groaned, but let go of me. I sat up again and slid off the bed, walking over to where I'd left my clothes and putting them back on. Lucifer rolled onto his stomach and watched me as I gathered my clothes, following me across the room with his eyes.

"Don't you have to go do work now too?" I told him as I searched for my shirt.

He waved me off. "I'll get ready soon," he said. I knew full well that 'soon' meant anytime in the next century.

There wasn't much happening in Hell at the moment anyway, so it wasn't like he was needed to solve some ongoing turmoil or something. He could afford to just lounge around all day; people have to go to him to report their daily happenings anyway, so he can pretty much do whatever he wants until then.

I walked back over to him and kissed him again slowly. "I'll see you tonight," I said, waiting for him to hum in response before I left.

I didn't have to go home to change or anything, so I went right to the punishment district of Hell. I usually don't have to go home; my little brother lives there too, so the house is being taken care of, and I keep some clothes at Lucifer's so I can change there.

The punishment district of Hell is kept apart from the living districts where the demons all are. The only demon that lives in the punishment district is the grounds keeper; the punishment district is closest to the entrance to Hell, where Cerberus is, so the grounds keeper has to take care of him.

Hell can be entered without a Hellfire portal; it just takes much longer, and the entrance on Earth is hidden so no humans wander in. And of course there's Cerberus at the Hell side of the entrance, so no humans can come through that way unless they're brought in by a demon for punishing. Usually the only humans going through there are the souls of dead ones that the reapers bring in.

Most demons stay out of the punishment district too, because it's literally just people's souls being punished in various ways. The district is split by the severity of the punishments in each area, so it's not too bad to work in there. And all I really do most of the time is walk around the district and make sure the punishments are being done correctly and all that. I also give out punishments, but I really only give the final word on them; a small council decides on the punishment itself and I just approve or veto it given the soul's reason for punishing.

The only bad part is that the punishment district is fucking huge. It takes all day to patrol once around the whole thing; I don't even go through the middle every day.

I do my best to finish wherever I'm patrolling in under twelve hours so that it's not too late when I go back to Lucifer's, and thankfully it worked today. A lot of the sentences of the souls being punished had ended today, so there was less to patrol.

I walked back through the district on my way to the palace again, rubbing my left horn. It was starting to flake off, and when they flake it feels super weird, so I tried to rub more of the old layer off at once to get it over with. It doesn't hurt, it's just annoying.

'I gotta take a trip up to Earth soon,' I thought to myself. It's getting repetitive down here again. 'I'll tell Lucifer that I'm taking a vacation starting tomorrow.'
