Lady and Trish fought at the base of the large lake. A multitude of Mermaid-Demons, each wielding a trident, lunged from the lake toward the two female devil hunters with sinister intent.

Trish blocked three trident attacks with her sword, Sparda. She then sent an electric jolt from both her hands, through the sword, and sliced the tridents, and the three Mermaids in half. She lunged her left hand forward, and sent a blast of blue lightning directly through three more Mermaids, leaving holes in their chests before they all fell over and died.

Lady jumped to avoid a trident stab; she then pulled out both her pistols and shot bullets through the demon in front of her. Two more tried to jump her from behind, but she kicked one aside and shot the other one in the head. She kicked the trident from the dead Mermaid and impaled the last one. 

When four tried to lunge towards her, she jumped high. She pulled out her bazooka and shot at the mermaids below. She gracefully landed, and without looking, she lunged her rocket behind her, and the attached blade pierced through the chest of the oncoming Mermaid.

Lady: You doing alright

Trish: Just warming up.

Tiamat: Hmmm. Interesting, very interesting. Perhaps, I should deal with the two of you myself!

Tiamat roars as she hovers over the sky. She attacks from a far by spitting fireballs from her mouth at the female Devil Hunters.

Trish: Incoming!

Lady pulled out her bazooka and fired a rocket at the fireballs, causing an explosion. Tiamat used the explosion as a smokescreen to fly toward them, she brought up her claws to slash them. However, Trish blocks the claws with her sword.

Tiamat: You should have considered my offer. Such a pity...

Lady: The only pity is having to look at your ugly mug!

Lady then shot another rocket and blasted Tiamat left wing, causing Tiamat to roar in pain at the loss of her wing. Tiamat rises to the air, curls up her wing and slam into the ground, causing a shockwave to ripple outwards.

Both of them jumped in the air, as Trish headed toward Tiamat and used her sword to slash some holes in her other wings.

Tiamat: Gah! You bitches!

Tiamat grabs and drags Trish up and slams her down with a fireball attack. But then Lady shot a rocket straight into her mouth which blew up causing Tiamat to lose her lower jaw.

Lady: Aren't you forgetting someone?

Tiamat: (strange sounds)

Trish: What do you think she's trying to say?

Lady: Bets me.

Tiamat: I... am Mundus's chosen. I can grant you your wish...

Lady: Alright, we want you to die? Can you grant us that?

Tiamat: (growls) NEVER!!!

Suddenly, Tiamat was being shot down by Barrett who arrived with Red.

Barrett: Somebody called the chivalry?!

Lady: You're late.

Red: Apologies, we had some demons that were blocking our way.

Trish: It's alright, Red. So were we the first or did you guys find anyone else?

Barrett: Nothing yet, this place sure is huge.

Red: Considering this place is meant to worship Sparda, then it fits.

???: Oh it sure is.

The four turned to see Osborn who approached them with some orcs and two blue skinned giants carrying maces. 

Osborn: Unfortunately, this place will be your grave. 

Barrett: (points his gun arm at him) You are?

Osborn: I am Osborn of Master B/N's Dark Rebel Army.

Trish: (confused) Dark Rebel Army?

Osborn: It's unsurprising you haven't heard of us. We, the Dark Rebel Army are loyal followers of B/N, the grandson of Sparda who formed this army in preparation to face the likes of powerful adversaries, including Salem and even Mundus.

Lady: Salem? Mundus?

Barrett: (scoff) If these guys follow B/N, then you know they are just crazy.

Osborn: (angry) How dare you insult my master's army! Giants, kill them!

The two giants went towards the Devil Hunters, Barrett aimed his gun arm at one of them and charged it up to create a giant fireball.

Barret: Take this! Big Shot!

He released the fireball at the giant, upon contact the attack exploded creating a hole in the giant chest. The first giant fell down dead while the second one was about to attack, but Red covered himself in a blood red energy as he dashed towards the second giant and began to attack.

Red: Blood Fang!

Red unleashed a flurry of slashes upon the giant, knocking it down.

Osborn: (shocked) What?! How?!

Lady: We hung around Demon Hunters? Or maybe you guys are just weak?

Osborn: You think me and my soldiers are weak? You're just a bunch of humans with a cat and a demon on your side!

Red: Cat? I have you know I'm more a mixture of a lion and wolf.

Osborn: Tonight begins a new era for us, the Dark Rebel Army! Attack!

The orcs and goblins went to charge at the Devil Hunters while they prepared themselves.

Castle Rooftops

Griffon screeched as he dived forward, beak first. The group managed to avoid it just in time as the beak pierced the roof. Using this to his advantage, Natsu charged forward.

Natsu: Fire Dragon Talon!

Natsu delivered a flaming kick straight at Griffon's head; forcing the giant demonic bird back. Natsu wasn't through yet as he used fire from his feet as a booster and launched directly at Griffon.

Natsu: Fire Dragon Sword Horn!

Natsu head-butted Griffon. The impact forced Griffon into the air, who stabilized himself with his wings soon after.

Griffon: You are much stronger than the average human. However, I am far superior to your worthless kind!

Griffon then flapped his wings and sent several large bolts of red lightning down toward the group. The Fire Dragon Slayer was able to jump and dodge most of the lightning bolts, but one landed in front of him, knocking him back; that was enough for Griffon to launch a rather large bolt of red lighting, which scored a direct hit. Griffon looked down with a smile, but it vanished when the dust settled and Natsu was still standing.

Natsu: Sorry birdbrain, but I got experience with lightning!

Griffon: Amusing. This may indeed prove to be a challenge for once.

He flew down to Natsu and tried to squash him with his large talons... 

Cloud: Blade Beam!

Cloud swung his sword down releasing a green energy beam from it, striking Griffon in the side.

Tifa: Forget us, didn't you?

Tifa then rushed at Griffon and began to rapidly punch him. Griffon tried to slash her, but she leaped in the air and landed on his back.

Griffon: Get off me! (starts shaking her off him)

Tifa: Nope!

Griffon began surging in red lightning which made Tifa jump off him. The demon went to attack her with his talons, but she caught them with her hands.

She was pushed back a bit. But once she dug her feet into the ground, Tifa slowly stopped and wouldn't move.

With a yell, she used Griffon's momentum to flip the demon bird over him, sending him rolling across the massive rooftop. When Griffon recovered he saw Natsu in the air just above him.

Natsu: Fire Dragon Brilliant Flame!

Natsu tossed a massive fireball straight for the surprised demon bird. With no time to react, Griffon flapped his wings and sent an equally large red lightning ball straight at the attack. Both collided and created a massive explosion of fire and lightning. Griffon soared back in the air from the dust, and Natsu stood his ground.

Natsu: We don't got time to play around with you! I gotta kick your ass real quick so we can rescue our friends

Griffon: What?! You were going easy on me?! You dare to take me so lightly?! I am a demon general! Servant of the mighty Mundus! I will not be treated like a merger beast not even worth the effort!

Tifa: You work for Mundus, and yet you're taking orders from B/N.

Cloud: I thought demon-kind hated Sparda and anyone who had his blood flowing in their veins.

Griffon: You believe I want to aid him?! That insolent fool bares the same wretched blood of the accursed Sparda! However, due to an artifact he stole; B/N has forced me into his service. However, he stated that if I kill you, he will free me from his grasp.

Natsu: So you're a slave.

Griffon: I am NO slave! Once I am freed, I will kill that vile half-demon, and his brother. Then Mundus will greet me with great praise for ridding the bloodline of Sparda once and for all! And bringing him an Aegis will only sweeten the deal!

Natsu: That ain't' gonna happen you overgrown Turkey!

Griffon: You are defending B/N?

Natsu: You first! Fire Dragon Roar!

Natsu soon unleashed his breath attack; sending an equally large torrent of flame from his mouth.

Both attacks collided and were in a large struggle of one trying to overpower the other. Both opponents glared at each other as they were still locked in a standoff; but the fire was able to push the lighting back and it blasted straight for the surprised Griffon.

After a large explosion; the smoking Griffon began to fall; but he soon stabilized himself with his wings and was now hovering closer to Natsu.

Griffon: (thoughts) No. It couldn't be.

He recognized the sensation of that fire; he knew he felt Natsu's attacks felt somewhat familiar.

Griffon: You are no ordinary human. Your attacks, your ferocity. They bear near equal strength to that of a dragon. 

Natsu, Cloud, and Tifa looked surprised at Griffon's statement.

Griffon: But not just any dragon. Your fire, that stench you carry, it is the same of that foul beast Igneel!

Natsu's eyes went wide at that.

Natsu: (surprised) You know Igneel?

Griffon: Yes, that foul creature.

Natsu glared at Griffon for saying that.

Griffon: When Sparda defected to this world, he had found powerful allies; the dragons. When Master Mundus and his forces attacked your world, it wasn't just Sparda who came to their defense, the dragons also aided him in his cause. The Fire Dragon, Igneel, was one who stood with and fought with the traitor.

Natsu: Y/N's grandpa knew Igneel.

Cloud: First time, we're hearing of this.

Griffon: I have clashed with that Dragon on multiple occasions, and yet somehow, I lost each battle. Now thanks to you, I have a new goal that I must achieve before I return to my true master. After I kill both the grandsons of Sparda, I will hunt down that vile dragon and bring his severed head to Master Mundus!

Natsu's pupils shrunk with anger and it looked like he was about to pop a vein.

Tifa: (look at Natsu) Oh boy. I don't think he should've said that.

Natsu: I'M NEVER GONNA LET THAT HAPPEN!!! Before you can even think about killing Igneel, which by the way you can't, you have to kill me first!

Griffon: That is my plan!

Griffon soared and caught Natsu in his claws. He then began to fly straight up towards the night, cloudy sky. He kept flying higher and higher as Natsu struggled in his grip.

Griffon: This will mark the end of you, Dragon Slayer!

Natsu: I don't think so!

His whole body suddenly lit on fire. Griffon was surprised but still held his grip as he continued to fly higher. Natsu's fire began to grow, both in strength and intensity.

Griffon felt the heat begin to scorch his feet until the flames engulfed his lower body, forcing Griffon to let go. He saw the flaming Natsu begin to fall.

Griffon: (thoughts) The fool. He's doomed himself, not even he can survive a fall from this height.

Surprisingly however, Natsu blasted fire from his feet and soared at amazing speeds straight up for Griffon, who was so stunned he couldn't even move. Natsu soared with a flaming fist and severed Griffon's right wing; much to the demon's shock.

The demon screeched in pain as his left wing began to flap rapidly, to keep him from falling. Natsu stopped his ascent and sent a massive wave of fire with the sweep of his legs.

The wave hit Griffon's left wing, causing it to explode. Griffon yelled even more in pain and began to scream as he began to fall back towards the castle.

Cloud: (looks at Tifa) Tifa! Throw me!

Tifa: Huh?

Cloud: How else am I supposed to get up there? 

Tifa: (nodded) Okay!

Tifa got into position with her hands below her, Cloud jumps up as she throws him up towards Griffon. Cloud then brought out his Buster Sword in front of him and began to spin it around.

Griffon: No! I will not be bested by a mere human! I am Griffon, a demon general that controls lightning and wind! (unleashes a tornado)

Natsu: (still covered in flames) I'm through playing games with you pal! You're done! Dragon Slayer Secret Art: Flame Lotus Phoenix Sword!

Natsu's flaming body flew at an even faster rate, and the flames surrounding his body took the form of a flaming spear which pierced through and destroyed the tornado. Soon Cloud brought out several grey magical circles and summoned several meteorites.

Cloud: Meteorain!

Cloud launched the meteorites towards Griffon as the two attacks headed towards Griffon, they slowly combined into one attack.

Griffon: (shocked) A Unison Raid?!

Natsu and Cloud: Try this! LOTUS BUSTER: BURNING RAIN!!!

The meteorites now covered in Natsu's fire spear head straight for Griffon, shooting through his body like he was made out of paper and as the last meteorite went through the center of his chest, it exploded.

Griffon: (thoughts) This boy... the power he wields... he's a true... Dragon Slayer.

Griffon's body exploded, in a massive blast of fire and lightning that rocked and shook the clouds in the sky.

Natsu landed on the castle rooftop on both his feet and his right fist, and made a bit of a crater. The flames died around him as some small flaming pieces of the deceased Griffon fell around him while Cloud landed next to him.

Natsu: I hope you saw that Igneel. That was for you.

Cloud: He would be proud of you for defeating Griffon.

Tifa: Now we can go and rescue our friends. 

Natsu: Right! (take a deep breath) If you can hear me B/N, I hope you saw that too, BECAUSE YOU'RE NEXT!!!

Cloud and Tifa: Do you have to do that right next to us?!

(meanwhile with Trish's group)

Osborn: (shocked) I-Impossible!

Osborn looked on in complete shock as Trish, Lady, Barrett, and Red stood over the dead bodies of Orcs and Goblin.

Barrett: What's the matter? Never seen guys like us before?

Red: I don't think he has.

Barrett: (laughs) Good! Now, (cock his gun arm) Why don't you come over here and tell us what we wanted to know?

Osborn: (screams in anger) No! This isn't over! (growls) I'm gonna kill you, Devil Hunters! The Dark Rebel Army and I, Osborn, have been appointed by Master B/N!

Barret: Oh shut up! (shot him in the leg)

Osborn: Gah! That hurt!

Barrett: Good! That was the point!

Osborn: So be it! I'm going to destroy you with the greatest power you'll ever witness!

Soon, lightning strikes as a strong lightning conductor around Osborn like a magical field, charging the atmosphere until a high voltage is created.

Trish: Lightning?

Lady: This guy is a wizard?

Osborn: Slayer, slayer! Balmor, oh lightning of the darkness!

Barrett: (look at Trish) You wanna ruin his fun?

Trish: Why not. 

Osborn: Die, you Devil Hunters! BALBOLT!!!

Soon Osborn unleashed a massive lightning blast at them and it striked them head on and would have worked...... had Trish not snapped her fingers and transformed it into a massive ball of lightning.

Osborn: (shocked) What?! My spell, she negated it?!

Trish: Of course, I can use lightning abilities too, you know.

Osborn: This can't be! Just what the hell are you people?!

Lady: We're the guys who beat you, what else! Trish?

Trish: (smirk) I know.

Trish then put one of her hands into a gun position and pointed it at Osborn and looked at him.

Osborn: (fear) No, no! Please! Don't kill me! I beg you! I'll do anything!

Trish: (smirk) Bang.

Then the massive ball of lightning was sent flying towards Osborn which electrocuted him.

Osborn: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! NNNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!

Soon, Osborn's body was vaporize into bones which faded away into ashes.

Barrett: HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Good one, Trish! You showed him.

Trish: Well... that was fun.

Lady: That depends on how you define fun.

Soon the group heard a loud explosion and looked towards the castle and saw a massive fiery explosion with some lightning.

Barret: What the hell was that?!

Lady: Natsu?

Trish: Natsu.

Red: Well, he certainly knows how to make a large amount of sound.

Lady: Damn, he's more destructive than Y/N, and that's saying something.

Trish: Five hundred dollars says he's gonna start hunting B/N down. Maybe we should give him a helping hand.

Barrett: Sounds perfect. Red, sniff out the trail!

Red: Understood.

With that Red sniffed the air and soon found a scent and Barrett, Trish, and Lady with him, took off in pursuit of B/N.

Chapter 16 ended.
