The rise of Wraith (S)
All of these events have been copied from the depths of the discord server, with the occasional grammatical correction
Back to the beginning. I guess that's the perfect part to start with.
It all started late 2110. Sangoth (the Cabin 9 SC and a close friend of mine) and myself were playing some casual poker in the Cabin 11 basement, before Sangoth sprung the fateful question upon me.
"Wanna have a power fight for three minutes? We each get a crystal. The goal is to shatter the opponents without moving. Powers only."
"I can literally control the air with my mind," I said, rather confident I would win. "I'm in."
We both departed from the Gambling Den, and Sangoth led me to the Cabin 5 basement this time. Upon arriving, Sangoth placed both the crystals on opposite sides of the arena.
Sangoth growled; "Let's dance, pretty boi."
"What are the crystals?" I asked. "Just quartz?"
"Just get to your side," Sangoth said.
"Homemade?" I asked, as I walked to my crystal.
"Not this bunch, I found them in the old cabin remains."
"Okay."
"A battle is surely brewing," Sangoth announced.
"You gonna count us in?" I asked.
"Three... Two... One... GO!" Sangoth created an orb of flame around his own crystal. I tried to counter by using the wind to raise his crystal in the air and smash it, but the flame somehow stood strong. I tried forcing the oxygen in the air to combust and to force it to melt Sangoth's crystal, but he countered by redirecting the fire towards mine.
At this point, I had to leave. I can't remember why, as I am writing this several months after the battle happened. If you look back over the server you will see us both leave the Underground Arena for a day, before returning to continue the fight the following afternoon
At this point Azi (the Cabin 11 SC) decided to join us as a commentator. Sangoth summoned another flame shield.
"Sangoth straight in there with the powers," Azi said.
I created a void around the flame to kill it and attempted to smash the crystal to the ground, which Sangoth, again, somehow countered with a ball of fire I have no clue how or why this worked buy we just rolled with it.
"Power move," Azi said, before giggling to herself about the pun she had just made.
Sangoth summoned a pillar of fire around my crystal.
I then announced "I have decided to make a ballsy play," before flinging my crystal at Sangoth's using the wind.
"Kamikaze move right there," Azi said.
At this moment Surtur (SC of Cabin 5 and owner of this arena) decided to descend into the fray. He opened up by yelling "GET OUT OF MY BASEMENT!"
Meanwhile, Sangoth engulfed the crystal I had launched in a ball of fire, causing it to explode in a flash of light.
Azi turned to Surtur, said "shush," before turning back to watch the game and said "blinding light, that was Sangoth."
As the light cleared, a Hellhound was standing in it's place. This was no normal Hellhound. This became obvious when it said "hey there, kids."
Sangoth turned to face it. I dropped into a fighting stance, my kerambits appearing in my hands.
"That's not good," I observed.
Sangoth pulled his hammer.
"Dun dun duuun," Azi said helpfully. "A Hellhound makes an appearance."
"Nice toys," the Hellhound said.
"Azi, get your ass down here," Sangoth demanded.
"Ooh, more food," the Hellhound remarked.
I started floating a couple feet off the ground, before barrelling towards the Hellhound and slashing at it. The Hellhound opened its mouth to bite.
"Ooh, that didn't faze the Hellhound," Azi said, still commentating.
The Hellhound closed its jaws just as I swerved away.
"Now that was a close shave," Azi said.
The Hellhound started bounding forwards, as I sheathed one of my Kerambits and taxicab whistled.
"Uh oh, better be quick," Azi said. "The eagle is most probably on its way now."
While I was whistling the Hellhound took a bite out of my rump, drawing blood. However before he could do any more damage Volt swooped in through the stairway down, turned giant and slammed the Hellhound into the wall.
"Ah, there she is," Azi said. "Straight in with the attack."
The Hellhound shadow stepped behind Sangoth.
"Sangoth! Look out!" I yelled. Sangoth took the bite to his arm, before swinging with his hammer.
"Um, do you guys need help?" Azi called over.
"Yes!" I replied, with Sangoth saying the much ruder:
"WHAT THE F*CK DO YOU THINK?"
"Righto, give me a minute."
I got back to my feet and flew at the Hellhound again.
"Throw combo!" Sangoth yelled to me.
Azi appeared on the Hellhound's back, stabbing at it with her knife.
As I flew overhead Sangoth, he grabbed my legs and span me round, which gave me momentum. I span as I approached the Hellhound, holding my knifes so that I was like a giant corkscrew.
Meanwhile, Amencer (the Cabin 7 SC of the time) descended into the depths and used his lasoo to pull Sangoth to the side to heal his arm.
The Hellhound yelped, "I will not forget this," he said. Shadows began to coalesce around him. This was the fateful moment that changed the course of camp's history forever.
"I am far," the Hellhound said, before disappearing. In his place a shadowy creature stood. The creature had no defined form.
"More than a Hellhound," Wraith screeched, his voice like acid.
"I SAID GET OUT MY BASEMENT!" Surtur yelled. "NOW. DON'T MAKE ME ASK AGAIN!"
"The crystal that contained me has been broken, and I am free," Wraith hissed.
Surtur drew his daggers.
"Unfortunately my power only remains enough to take one blow and remain flesh," Wraith said. "But I will savour your flesh. Yours in particular son of Zeus, for it has been to long since I ate the flesh of the big three"
"You underestimate my power," I said, barely standing.
"Ooh epic showdown," Azi raised her eyebrows.
Velen entered the Underground Arena, followed by his pet bird, Birb, and Surtur's dog, Ripper. Volt was standing guard by me, still giant.
"They are not getting out of my basement," Surtur said.
At this moment something that, at the time, was rather confusing occurred. Wraith dissipated, turning into a beam of shadow. This beam shot towards Surtur, before disappearing, almost as if it soaked inside of him. This was the precursor for a whole world of pain.
Ripper howled.
Azi widened her eyes; "oh how the tables have turned."
Sangoth's eyes widened. "We need to get him to the infirmary," he said.
Sangoth picked Surtur up and we all ran off to the healing tent.
We arrived at the tent, and Sangoth laid Surtur down on the medical bed.
"Owie," Surtur groaned, before Amencer knocked him out with a vial of clear liquid.
"What happened?" Velen asked. "Also, if he dies do I get his role?"
"Velen," I said. "No."
"Sad," Velen said.
Sangoth pulled up Surtur's shirt, revealing a large, dark patch.
"Oh for gods sake," Amencer said to Velen. "Sit yo ass down."
"This isn't looking good," Azi said. "Can I read a book while waiting?
Ripper barked.
"Sure, Azi," Amencer said. He started singing a healing hymn to replenish us from the combat.
"I like your funny words, magic man," I said.
Velen started dabbing to 'restore Surtur's health'
"Velen," I said, again. "No."
"You're right," Velen replied. "I NEED TO DAB HARDER!"
"Sang," Amencer said, "grab two squares of Ambrosia and mix it into Nectar then carefully spoon feed it to Surtur."
Velen dabbed more. Sangoth summoned a fire bolt and launched him out the tent 'Yeets Velen into lake using FIRE'. This is one of my favourite RP quotes.
"Thanks," Amencer said.
It was at this point that the Suits (myself, Sangoth, Azi, at the time Amencer and Surtur (through a Ripper) agreed to make Amencer the first Head Healer)
"Everyone out Surtur needs healing," Amencer said, after he got promoted.
Whilst everybody left, the dark patch on Surtur's chest had moved to become a fang on his neck.
I'm going to leave this here. If I wrote this section to include every time Wraith showed up over the next couple months, they'd be so frequent and connected to the previous that this one part of the story would make up the entire first chapter. As there are so many Wraith encounters, I have decided to only write down the most notable.
