The Great Evolution || The Half-Blood Massacre (L)

Ah, the Great Evolution. I always did wonder why they called it that. It was much the other way around. Humanity tore itself apart. It's why I rarely commune with regular humans. They all have the same ideals: power and domination.

Anyway, the Great Evolution. Basically World War Three. It all started in 2027, when Russia developed a new superweapon. It was like the discovery of nuclear weaponry all over again. Then, naturally, America decided they wanted to replicate Russia's superweapon as the two countries had been rivals since the Cold War. They succeeded the replication in 2029, two years later.

Now, the United Nations weren't very happy with this. They stood for peace in the world, after all. There was outrage across the board, and the UN, a beacon that stood for peace for so many years, fell apart. Later that year, Russia declared war on America. And like in previous wars, both sides allies came and joined the fray.

2031. The Great Evolution began. Russia dropped the first of their new superweapon on America- it was a new style of EMP, though much much worse. It was called an Electric Distortion Device, or EDD for short. Similarly to an EMP, it disabled technology. However it did so in a much more violent fashion. Any modern technology connected to the power plant it was detonated in would instantly combust, which destroyed countless houses, garages, stores and much more.

The world fell into chaos. The casualties were beyond measure. Both sides tried getting around the EDD by turning off their electronic devices. But the EDD was much more advanced then the EMP. Instead of turning off tech, it supercharged it beyond its safe capabilities. The only regions untouched by this senseless slaughter were remote islands, old-fashioned tribes and, luckily, camp Half-Blood. Having next to no tech on their grounds, CHB was almost untouched by the war. It's because of this that Chiron took notice of the Chaos Brothers, Wraith and Void, and sent out some Hephaestus kids to imprison them in an enchanted crystal, led by a 51-year-old Leo Valdez.

A few years after the Brothers were imprisoned, Japan joined the battle as a third-party, with a new superweapon: Bio-Warriors. These were genetically-engineered clones. Millions of these Bio-Warriors were produced over the course of the war, each one killing on average at least 100 people each.

These Bio-Warriors... They were our kinds' downfall. As they were not technically human, they could pass through camp's magical barriers. Chiron and the remaining campers made their last stand at the training grounds. Many campers fell during the fight. Thanks for asking for the training ground to be a place of death, Kieran and Nana. Those who did not perish managed to flee camp, but most succumbed to monsters on the outside world. But with nobody to look after it, camp fell into disarray. Most buildings crumbled, the greenery overgrew the wreckages, and any non-demigod inhabitants left, like the myrmyrkeys and the geyser gods.

40 years, 2.83 billion casualties and the extinction of demigods later, humanity realised the destruction they had brought on the world. For once, humanity decided to stop killing for power. A conference was held, and all sides called for a truce, before any more collateral damage ensued. All parties held worldwide votes, and 91% of the remaining population called for a disarmament, and both the EDD and Bio-Warriors were shut down.
