Chapter 5
I had gotten over the fact that I was reaped quickly. It was very likely I’d eventually be in it anyways. I sighed, wondering when Athena was going to show up and what she was going to teach me. I knew Athena wasn’t the goddess of something you could control, but that doesn’t matter in The Games. If you use a special power in The Games they kill you. Which luckily for me it meant that Zeke couldn’t zap us all with lightning bolts.
“Sorry I’m late Abbey, I had to comfort Achilles.” My mother told me as she walked through the door. “Is he alright?” I hoped she answered yes, I didn’t want my little brother to be completely heartbroken when I died. “No, but I’m sure he’ll be over it eventually.” I sighed, why couldn’t this be easier?
Athena led me into a glorious room. The walls were cream colored and painted with many different colors of books. There was a large library of books on war strategy, books on the past games, and books on herbs and medicine. I saw corner filled with sharp silver spears and armor. There were olive trees in every corner of the room. I also saw a cage of owls in the back. This room felt like home to me, even though I’ve only been in here for five minutes.
“Abbey, I’m going to explain how the training will work.” I nodded. “You will be given a schedule of what we’re going to learn at what time of day. You will be learning skills that match the talents you were born with. I hope you win these games. Choose your allies well. I know you like Diana’s sister Demi, but remember Demi thrives on solitude.” I kept nodding as I got all of this new information.
When I had the time I looked over my schedule, I didn’t even flinch when I saw the early mornings, I just needed to do this perfectly right.
9:00: Breakfast
9:30: Owl Training
10:00: Book Study
11:30: Meet The Tributes
12:30 Lunch With Tributes
1:30: Strategy
2:30: Spear Practice and Creation of Armor
3:30: Herbs and Medicine
4:30-6:30: Break
6:30: Supper
11:00: Bed
I looked up from the schedule when I finished memorizing it and looked at my room. It was a nice, warm beige, like the color of my room. The bed matched the walls, and the other furniture is white. I looked at the clock and noticed it was 11:00. I put the schedule on the side table and went to sleep.
