Chapter 5
Chapter 5- Old Faces and Memories
"I can't believe it. I know the War has spread far, but Omashu always seemed... untouchable," Aang mumbled in despair.
"It was... now Ba Sing Se is the only Earth Kingdom stronghold left," You replied with a glare at the Fire Nation.
'Even after all I've been through, I just... want to wish that my family is safe, I want Ba Song Se to be the safest place there is. Even after what they did,' You thought.
"This is horrible, but we have to move on," Katara tried to place a hand on your shoulder, but Aang grabbed your hand to move forward.
"No, I'm going in to find Bumi," He said with determination.
"Aang, stop. We don't even know if Bumi's still-" You elbowed Sokka in the side to make him stop touching.
"What Boomerang means, is that Bumi isn't someone who just gets defeated so easily, something must've happened to him," You sighed, rubbing your arms.
"I know you had your heart set on Bumi, but there are other people who can teach you earthbending. Maybe (Y/N) can!" You immediately shook your head at Katara's suggestion.
"M-me? No no, like I said before Water girl, my lavabending is more complicated, a-and I just can't teach Earthbending, it's not one of my skills," You explained, feeing small at your stammering, but Aang shook his hand
"This isn't about finding a teacher, this is about finding my friend,"

Underneath the walls of Omashu, Aang was trying to pry off a lid that led to a sewer.
"A secret passage? Why didn't we just use this last time?" Sokka complained, but then the moment the lid opened, sewage poured out, the smel made Teig gag and cough.
You all jumped in, and you used rocks to made a shield in front of you so you wouldn't get douced in sewage, you wouldn't say the same with Sokka. You eventually made it up to the surface and you made sure Twig wasn't dirty.
"That wasn't as bad as I thought," Katara smiled, but then Sokka emerged from the sewer covered in sewage, making Katara wash him off with water.
As he dried off, there were pentapus stuck to his face, making him scream.
"They won't let go!" You got tired of him screaming so you leg sweeper him and covered his mouth.
"If you keep screaming, I'll have no trouble of throwing you off a cliff Boomerang," You said with a serious, yet joking tone, making him nod quickly.
"It's just a purple pentapus," You petted one on its head, and it curled up its tentacles. Sokka did the same with the others and all he had were welts by the suction.
"Hey! What are you kids doing out past curfew?" You all froze at the new voices, and you saw Fire Nation soldiers walking up to you.
You quickly pulled up the cloak you had with Aang wrapping up his head, and Twig hiding behind you.
"Sorry, we were just on our way home," Katara meekly said and you all turned to walk away, but the soldier noticed the welts on Sokka.
"Wait, what's the matter with him?" The soldier asked, in which you quickly responded.
"You see, he has pentapox, sir, it's highly contagious, and deadly!" You dramatically said, and the water tribe boy immediately pretended he was sick.
"Oh, it's so awful. I'm dying!" He groaned out, making the soldiers back away slightly.
"Hey, I think I heard of pentapox. Didn't your cousin Chang die of it?" The soldier asked another.
"We'd better go wash our hands, and burn our clothes," They quickly ran off to clean themselves, making you grin.
"Lying, it's bad, but useful," You said as you four sneaked around the city, hiding from other soldiers.
"Let's find Bumi and get out of here," Katara whispered.
"Where would they be keeping him?" Sokka asked looking around.
"Knowing Earthbenders history, no one could metal bend, so they probably have him is a metal cage high up," You explained and ran over to the top of the buildings. As you walked through a path, you felt rocks tumbling down the metal walls and towards a group of people.
One was you could faintly recognize, she had black hair tied up, and her expression was blank and bored.
'Is... is that-?' You could finish your thoughts as Aang used his bending to block the oncoming rock attacks, making the people jump and look up.
"The resistance!!" A woman holding a baby yelled out, and the girl quickly jumped and threw small arrows at Aang, in which he dodged.
"Go!" You yelled, as Katara and Sokka ran to cover, with Twig on Katara's shoulder, you and Aang readied to fight.
Katara knocked soldiers off, and blocked the arrows coming from the girl. You lifted a bolder to block her way, but she ended up jumping over, the Fire from torches gave you a better view of her face. And it was a face you haven't seen in a long time, yet know very well.
"M...Mei?" You said in shock, which caused your hood to fall back slightly to reveal your bandana.
Seeing a familiar symbol, it made the girl's eyes widen slightly, pausing for a second. But she then shook her head and threw more arrows at you, making you get pinned to the wall by your clothing.
"(Y/N)!" Aang quickly pulled you off the wall as Mei was about to throw more arrows, but you all fell into a hole where Earthbenders awaited.
The hole sealed shut and Mei stopped, sighing in boredom again, but stood for a moment.
'It's nice to see you haven't changed a bit, (Y/N),'

Turns out Omashu soldiers made a resistance after Fire Nation attacked, and they were going to ambush the Nobels.
"So, is King Bumi with you guys? Is he leading the resistance?" Aang asked the current leader, Yung, who clenched his fists angrily.
"Of course not! The day of the invasion, we readied ourselves for battle. We were prepared to defend our city, to fight for our lives and for our freedom. But before we even had a chance, King Bumi surrendered," You tilted your head in confusion, knowing that Bumi is powerful enough to fight the amount of armies you fought.
"The day of the invasion, I asked King Bumi what he wanted to do. He looked me in the eye and said "I'm going to do nothing,". But it doesn't matter now," Yung turned to the soldiers.
"Fighting the Fire Nation is the only path to freedom, and freedom is worth dying for," He told the Gaang.
"Actually there's another path to freedom. You could leave Omashu. You're directing all your energy to fight the Fire Nation, but you're outnumbered, you can't win. Now's the time to retreat, so you can live to fight another day," Aang protested to Yung.
"You don't understand. They've taken our home, and we have to fight them at any cost!" Yung argued, making you roll your eyes.
'Oh the stubbornness of Earthbenders, it's like looking in a mirror,' You thought. Other refugees agreed about leaving, making Yung sigh.
"Fine, but there's thousands of citizens that need to leave. How're we going to get them all out?" You thought for a moment, and snapped your fingers.
"You guys feeling sick?" They turned to you with confusion, and you merely grinned.
"You're all about to come down with a nasty case of pentapox,"

"How exactly are you doing to do this, Lala?" (B/N) raised an eyebrow as he leaned against the throne Azula sat on.
"I'm going to rip your tongue out if you don't refer to me as Princess Azula," Azula hissed at the tall man, who smirked and gave an innocent look.
"I apologize your majesty, it's that I want to leave as soon as possible so I could find my scared, innocent, and lost sister," He fake pouted, making Azula roll her eyes.
"Patience now future in-law, (Y/N) was rumored to have slain Commander Zhao after certain incidents," She emphasized the word 'incident' while making direct eye contact with him, making him cough a little.
"Who knows how strong she'd become, a perfect wife to be with. She'll just need to be taught on who is in charge, and that'll be me,"
