Chapter 45

Chapter 45- Confrontation

"Come on Water girl! Kick his sun shiner!" You shouted as Pakku dodges the ice plates Katara threw, and hits her with a massive water wave.
"Well, I'm impressed. You are an excellent waterbender." Pakku said with a raised eyebrow.
"But you still won't teach me, will you?" She huffed out.

"No," He then rides a wave to knock Katara down, in which her necklace falls on the ground. Pakku separates ice and sends it straight down to Katara, causing Twig to look away from fear. You furrowed your eyebrows at Pakku's victory when Katara was unable to move.
"This fight is over." He simply said.

"Let me at him, I'll show him a real fight," You growled as Sokka and Aang held you back. As he walked passed Katara, Pakku paused and stared at something on the ground.
"This is my necklace," He mumbled with shock as he picked Katara's necklace up.
"No, it's not. It's mine! Give it back!" She yelled, trying to get out of the ice spikes.

"I made this sixty years ago for the love of my life... for Kanna." Pakku unfroze the ice and Katara looked at him with confused eyes.
"My Gran-Gran was supposed to marry you?" She asked him.
"A plot twist, but I'm still going to pull a Suki and kick the misogyny out of him," You bluntly said.

"I carved this necklace for your grandmother when we got engaged. I thought we would have a long, happy life together. I loved her." Pakku sighed sadly, gently rubbing the necklace with his thumb.
"But she didn't love you, did she? It was an arranged marriage. Gran-Gran wouldn't let your tribe's stupid customs run her life. That's why she left. It must have taken a lot of courage." Katara told him.

Apparently that made Yue cry and ran off, making you confused and run after her.
"(Y/N)-!" The chief stopped Aang and Sokka from running as you and Twig followed the princess. Night falls and you took many turns to find Yue, Twig sniffing the air and pointing the direction on where she went.

'Of course; the bridge we were supposed to meet,' You thought, running the steps and stopping to see her crying.
"What do you want from me?" She sniffed, wiping the tears away.
"Nothing, I just.... Yue, I'm sorry for not meeting at the bridge like we promised, but I let Sokka go instead because he liked you! And if he said something to upset you, I'll kick his water tribe butt to the moon," You told her, cracking your knuckles.

"You don't understand," Yue started.
"You're right, I don't, but if it's because of either Sokka or something else, I'll fix it. I really liked you in the beginning, but if Boomerang likes you, then I'm not going to get in the way and-" You paused, feeling lips on yours, face heating up as Yue kissed you with love and gentleness.
"Wha..." You said breathless.

"You're really are a dummy (Y/N)," She softly giggled, placing her gloved hands on your cheeks.
"I do love you, but when Sokka came to the bridge instead of you, he told he something that made everything so clear," She said.

"And as much as I love you, we can't be together for two reasons," She pulled her coat to reveal a betrothal necklace.
"I'm engaged, an arranged marriage. And two," He gave you a soft smile and rubbed her thumb as against your bandage.

"Sokka likes you," With a final kiss on your cheek, she ran off, leaving you standing there with wide eyes, and hands feeling something wooden. You looked down to see Yue gave you a carvings, it looked like a bear, but with a twist, it began to look like a fish.

"This is Sokka's carving," You mumbled, looking up at the sky with a moment of silence, Twig cooing at you with concern.

"Boomerang... likes me?"

"Nice try, Pupil Sangok. A couple of more years and you might be ready to fight a sea sponge." Pakku commented sarcastically at the waterbender who was frozen in the air by Katara. You stood near a wall of ice, watching on. You still didn't know how to feel.

'Sokka likes me, and Yue liked me but she is already engaged... I feel so confused about this whole thing, sure I dated and love Suki with all my heart, but she was the one who made the whole thing possible... what am I supposed to do?' You groaned and pressed your head against the ice wall.

"What's wrong (Y/N)?" You heard Aang asked you as he spun Momo and Twig around his a ball of air.
"Nothing... just feeling out of it today," You shrugged, turning to watch Katara.
'I wonder if Water girl knows, or Air boy,' You wondered.

"Katara, you've advanced more quickly than any student I've ever trained. You have proven that with fierce determination, passion and hard work, you can accomplish anything." Pakku told Katara humbly.
"Raw talent alone is not enough." He then turned to Aang was kept playing with Momo and Twig.

You slightly smiled at Aang's antics, and slowly got up to walk around the village. Twig followed as the two of you turned any corner to find peace and quiet. That was until you bumped into a familiar hard back, and revealed to be Sokka. He turned with a shock looks and behind him, was Princess Yue too.

Well damn it.

"Uhhh, hey," You coughed while scratching your neck, Twig sensing the tension and copied you.
"(Y/N)! We- Uhh, we didn't see you there... you sure do know how to blend in," Sokka stammered, Yue face palming as you stood in your bright and dull green Earth Kingdom clothing surrounded by blue and white ice, with a bright red Tiger Monkey on your head.

"Yeah..." You trailed off, slowly and awkwardly shuffling around them, feeling small around them even though Yue is smaller than you. Yue didn't move, and gave you a look that tells you to say something. You made a whining humming noise, and stood in between them, standing on your toes once in a while. It didn't make it better that Sokka and Yue are also not engaging in conversation, making your social anxiety sky rocket.

"Agh!! I'm tired of this awkward tension!!" You yelled suddenly, making the two jump and you rubbing your hands against your face.
"Okay, how about.... we go for a ride!" You said, the idea popping up.
"Riding? On our Buffalo Yaks?" Yue asked, tilting her head.

"Better, our Flying Bison,"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I haven't actually hang out with you in a while Appa!" You smiled as Appa finished eating and licked your body.
"Twig missed you too," Twig cooed and hopped on the Bison's back, nuzzling his body against him.
"Great idea (Y/N)," Sokka smiled, and helped Yue to get onto Appa.
"So, how does this work?" Yue questioned sitting next to you, Sokka sitting on the other side of you. You and Sokka looked at each other, and grinned mischievously.
"Yip,"
"Yip,"
Immediately, Appa flapped his tail and took to the skies, making Yue yelp and you laughing.
"Oh my goodness!" She gasped, then was excited to see the whole ocean below her.
"Wow, I can't believe you do this every day," Yue said in awe.
"Yeah, we pretty much live up here." Sokka shrugged.
"It takes light travel to another level," You joked, grinning your dopey grin that made Sokka's heart melt.
"Is it always this cold in the sky?" Yue shivered slightly, leaning her head against you.
"Not when you cuddle with someone close to you," You answered, closing your eyes to enjoy the wind.
Of course, you were referring to Twig, but the two Water tribe members thought otherwise. All of a sudden, you felt two pairs of lips kiss both of your cheeks, making you open your eyes quickly and a huge blush on your face.
"Well then!! Isn't this a great sight to behold!! Why don't we continue watching!! With our hands on your laps!!" You said, laughing loudly and awkwardly, causing Sokka and Yue to cough and look away, but then you noticed something.
Something black in the sky.
"What's happening?" Yue asked worriedly, and Twig gagged at the black snow hitting his face. You lead Appa down onto the snow and Sokka got off to check.
"Soot. I've seen this before, right before my village was attacked. It's soot mixed with snow." Sokka explained as you helped Yue get down.
"But why?" She asked you, making your lips go to a thin line.
"It's the Fire Nation. They've closed in on the North Pole and from the looks of this stuff, I'd say there's a lot of them." Sokka placed a hand on your shoulder, comforting you as your eyes widen at the Fire Nations ships.
"I think we know who it behind all of this," You looked ahead, you may not have been able to see the ships, but you definitely know who is behind it all. The one man who you were once afraid of, now you want to personally give a little message to for all of the torture and trauma he put you through.
"Zhao,"
