Chapter 13- Into The Battlefield

"Boomerang! There you are!" You smiled as you and Aang found Sokka in his warrior uniform.
"We've been looking everywhere for you. The boats are ready to leave," Aang said while pointing at the boats.
"I messed up guys," Sokka mumbled, looking down.

"What do you mean?" Aang asked, tilting his head.
"The invasion plan was my moment of truth and I completely flubbed it. I just fell apart," Sokka told you two with a frown.
"Don't seat Boomerang, no one really good at public speaking, trust me," You reassured him with a smile.

"My dad is! He explained the plan perfectly and inspired everyone, like a real leader should," Sokka sighed sadly.
"Look, your moment of truth isn't gonna be in front of some map; it's gonna be out there on the battlefield," Aang piped in with determination.

"You seem so confident about everything, how do you know we're gonna win?" Sokka asked you two.
"We don't," You simply said, with Twig nuzzling your cheek.
"I already failed the world once at Ba Sing Se," Aang told him, but he stood tall with his staff.

"I won't let myself fail again,"

The boats sailed across the sea, where you saw Fire Lord statues in lines at the entrance of the Fire Nation.
"There they are, the Great Gates of Azulon," Hakoda said while looking though his scope.
"I don't see any gates," Katara commented, and you noticed your mom shaking slightly.

"It's been a long time since I've been back. Do you think we'll win?" She asked you, and you shrugged, with Twig landing on your shoulder.
"We'll see," You mumbled, with the waterbenders made fog over the boats, trying to sneak over the gates.

But it didn't work as an alarm was set off, and nets were lifted up by the statues, which then caught fire to prevent any boats to come near.
"Huh, there's the gates," You said, and Hakoda turned to everyone.

"Everyone below deck!" Everyone ran down the decks, and soon, Firebenders hopped in the boats, breaking into each door to find you all, but you weren't there.

Because Sokka, being the absolute genius, had the mechanics to make submarines, and you were all underwater, driving through with the machines.
"You've really outdone yourself this time, son," Hakoda smiled at his son.
"Yeah, congratulations, Sokka. You managed to invent a worse way of travel than flying," Toph groaned, getting sea sick and threw up in The Duke's helmet.

"Well, I just came up with the idea. The mechanist did all the work," Sokka shrugged.
"Now don't sell yourself short, my boy. It was your idea to use waterbending to make the subs sink and float, brilliant!" Teo's dad grinned, and took out Sokka's blueprints.
"Though your original designs were a bit difficult to decipher," The paper held a badly drawn submarine, and you snorted at his art skills.

"Unfortunately there is one problem I couldn't fix. The subs have a limited air supply. Before we land on the beaches, we'll need to resurface," The mechanic explained, and eventually, you all resurfaced to gain more air.

Jumping out of the sub, Twig threw up from the sea sickness, and you patted his back.
"So, this is it huh?" Aang said as you and the Gaang walked up together.
"Are you ready for the Fire Nation to know the Avatar is alive?" Sokka grinned, and Aang paused for a moment, then nodded.

"I'm ready," Sokka pulled him into a hug, and everyone soon joined in.
"I hope you kick some serious Fire Lord butt, Twinkle Toes," Toph smiled.
"You grew up so much, I'm proud of you Aang," Katara mumbled, and kissed his forehead.

"Everyone listen up. The next time we resurface, it'll be on the beaches. So stay alert, and fight smart. Now break time's over, back in the subs," Hakoda explained and hopped back in the subs.
Everyone hopped down in the subs, leaving you and Aang standing alone.
"You wanna talk first, or should I?" You asked him, swaying back and forth.

"You go," He smiled, and you cleared your throat a little.
"Well, I just need to say that I would've never expected that not only I was going to travel all over the world to save it, but to travel with the Avatar? It's crazy to see how much we've grown," You told him.

"Everything's gonna be different after today, isn't it," He said, gripping his staff tightly.
"Yeah, who also knew I was dating the Avatar? Nevertheless the whole Gaang," You smiled, making him smile back, but looked down sadly.
"(Y/N). What if... what if I don't come back?" He asked you, but you quickly shook that question away.

"You will, I know it. If not, then strike me down," You sternly told him, right before he leaned in and kissed you on the lips.
"You're the best," He mumbled, before flying off on his gilder.

Twig cooed at you as you scratched his head, blushing at the kiss.
"It's time to submerge (Y/N)! Come on!" You heard Sokka yell, so you turn and hopped back in the sub. Going down in the ocean, everyone waited in anticipation for the signal to attack.

"Everyone in position. Earthbenders, into your tanks. This is gonna be a rough ride," Hakoda commanded, and you and the other Earthbenders got in position.
"Be safe hun," Your mother whispered and kissed your forehead, before walking off to be in position.

"This is intense," Toph mumbled, and you nodded right before you felt the subs stop suddenly, and light was seen in front of you.
"Let's go Twig!" You said as Twig patted his helmet, before everyone started to shout and charge in battle.

Toph, The Boulder, and Hippo started to throw chunks of rock at the towers above, while Twig started to screech loudly, and the colony, along with other Tiger Monkeys all from the land, ran down and charged at the Firebenders.

"I raised a monster," You mumbled in awe as you saw one Fire Nation soldier get tackled by one Tiger monkey, before he was surrounded by a bunch.
You used your strength to lavabend at submerge the Fire Nation machines with lava.

Sokka charged at the ones on Komodo Rhinos, and hopped onto one with his sword.
"Dad, look out!" He shouted at Hakoda, who was about to be ambushed by a soldier, but then a huge wave of fire knocked him down.

Your mother tossed Hakoda a spear and she then took a deep breath, before shooting fire from her mouth and knock the soldiers down.
"Yeah! Go mom!" You cheered as Sokka, Hakoda, and Katara flew up with Appa to take down battlements.

You turned around when you heard something behind you, and a tank nearly shot you down with fire, but you up a rock wall, before melting it into lava and covering a laver of lava on the tank.
"You grew stronger," You mom said as she flipped a man over her shoulder and onto the ground.

"And you're already strong! That was awesome!" You beamed and shot a rock pillar to hit a few soldiers.
"You should've seen me when I was younger, champion on fighting tournaments for 28 years!" She nonchalantly said as she took another soldier down without even looking away.

"Listen up, everyone!" Sokka shouted suddenly as he landed down with Appa.
"I want the tanks in wedge formation. Warriors and benders in the middle. We're taking that tower, and heading for the royal palace!" He commanded everyone, and everyone obeyed.

You whistled for Twig and the other Tiger Monkeys to come, and you all waited for Sokka's signal, with your mom having her fists lite up with fire.

"CHARGE!!"

Oh damn! No wonder Zhao wanted to win your moms's heart, she's awesome!

But jokes on you Zhao, their mother never wanted a whiny little bitch!
