Recollection
"Alright Hellas, I want you to have a future plan at the ready...All the time" I heard my father say as he looked at me in his throne room, he just stared at me as I nodded my head, I was still a pawniard and I kept on writing into my small notebook, the only thing I kept close to myself at all times. My father's footsteps could be heard as I slightly looked at him, he walked up to me and looked at my notebook, he patted my head as I looked back at the list I made as he just simply continued to pat my head as he read through it all, I just went back to writing the usual, as I let him rub my helmet for a couple of seconds I felt his hand stop dead in its tracks on top of me.
"what about that fifth point?" he asked as I stopped writing and looked up at the note scribed into my book. I already knew I was in for a ride. "Defeat Bernstein, what about it?"
"what about it? our nation must NOT fall... We currently tread on a very thin line, and the only thing we can say to the world is that we have a super soldier such as him. If you defeat him they'll know that he is beatable. And even if you take his title as the strongest, there would still be gossip going around the place about the fact that you could also be flawed just like him." He said as he grabbed my helmet.
"however I can say that women are all around you and your blind." he said once again as I stayed silent, watching my father put his finger next to point number 12. Which was "get a wife/girlfriend"
"Are you perhaps blind son?" he asked as I shook my head and decided to respond.
"The girls here aren't my taste."
"then you better get used to it." my father said once again as I heard his metallic plates clang against eachother as he straightened himself out and walked back to his black throne. I just glared at him as he did so.
"Alright then... What kind of wife WOULD you prefer?" he asked as I looked back down onto the paper and began to think.
"A wife that knows what I feel and I can share my problems with her, and vi-"
"what kind. Not what type." He asked again, I started thinking once again. But I was unable to find an answer so I just shrugged.
"Bisharp? Aggron? Or perhaps another kind of pokemon?"
"no, something unique." I replied as I looked back at my notebook. My father started glaring at it before he came over once again, his footsteps were as far apart as before as he was stomping over to me. I quickly closed the book and put it under my helmet. He stopped right in his tracks as I cleaned my single blade arm from the ink I wrote with. He scoffed at me before going back to his throne.
"I hope you'll find one soon enough son." he said as my surroundings darkened with black fog as it closed in on my father before he just disappeared and the darkness was left behind.
I jolted awake at once. It was already evening and in the middle of the night, most of the lamps and lights outside seemed to be snuffed out, I was looked around and saw almost nothing untill I turned on the lighting only to find Brigett and Lola standing by the foot of my small bed with a book in hand which was my diary. Brigett tried to leave only for me to jump onto her and pin her down well enough to snatch my book back.
"Not today." I said to her as she smirked at me before trying to use aura sphere to knock me out, I just simply let go of her and jumped out of the way and her shot missed me.
"what are you hiding? We know what Batalonia wants to do, and we won't let you fool us." she said as I just raised an eyebrow.
"If I wanted a war, I could have tried to kill you or Lyra during the time you guys took me in first day." I simply said as she squinted her eyes at me, I felt like she wasn't buying it.
"If I show you what my newest entry is, will you buzz off?" I asked as Brigett tried to deny it but Lola cut her off and accepted the offer.
I open my book and go to the last entry I wrote which was an evaluation on everyone in the group... Of course it had to be. I showed them the book and let the two of them read, Brigett started to look at me faster and faster as she clutched her fists together. Lola however almost squealed in excitement as she read it herself, after about ten seconds or so I closed the book and put it under my arm.
"You think I'm like a freaking dragon?" Brigett asked as she looked like a tauros ready to charge. I looked her in the eye and nodded, that was because well.
She really didn't look too sympathetic towards me back at the camp, however Lola almost immediately hugged me, she was a bit better, and even though I wrote a couple of bad things about her as well, she was definitely a lot better then what Brigett was. I felt as if I needed to get the two of them out of my room before they wake up the whole God damn City with their shouting. So I quickly shoved Brigett out the door as she was banging on my head with her fists. Lola, on the other hand, gave me another surprise hug and simply continued to push Brigett out the door, only to see Lyra in front of it.
The two of them slowly got back into our proper way of greeting Lyra. I got up and bowed before her as she closed the rooms door on us.
"umm, anything you need?" I asked as Lyra nodded her head and pulled out a sheet of paper and a pencil from her bags pouch and handed it to me. "I suppose this wouldn't hurt you if you truely came from Battalonia." She said as I grabbed the paper and pulled it closer to myself to take a look at it.
"become your servant? Why would I want that?" I asked her as I put the paper down onto my bed as I got back onto it and sat down.
"if what you said was true. Then most of the pokémon in the Capital would be out for your head. However if you become my servant... More precisely, my bodyguard then you wouldn't have to worry about that. And on top of it, you wanted to be trained by Grej, well after that, you could." She said as I looked at her and then sighed. Only giving the paper a couple of brush strokes with the pencil to sign the paper. She also signed the paper when I was finished and put it away.
"Lyra, would it be... A big request that I get a weapon?" I asked hesitantly as she looked at me.
"Like a sword?"
"no, a spear."
"A spear? Are you sure about that?"
She looked at me as if I was a bit insane, however I guess you could underestimate me with a spear rather then a sword.
"Alright, we have a makeshift spear here, however I would like to see you fight with one if your insisting on it." She said as if I was gonna get beaten to crap by somebody.
"2 hours from now, you'll fight Grej." I almost jumped out of the bed the moment she said "fight Grej".
I simply got up from bed and went outside, the darkness of the entire village was only illuminated by lamps, a small twinkle here and there but nothing more.
I looked around and saw Jack and Christopher dueling it out on the deck, both of them throwing out moves and doing or blocking them, however here and there one would hit and send the other stumbling back a bit.
The two of them seemed to have a good time untill a Raichu came back and threw some sort of wood at me, It made a "thunk" sound as it hit my chest blades, as I looked down all I saw was a bamboo shoot with a stone end acting like a spear.
"There's your spear fella. I hope you like it, took a while to make it." he said as I raised an eyebrow at him. As soon as He spoke to me, the sound of fighting stopped behind me, only silence and a grumble was heard, I guess Jack didn't really take a liking to his older brother.
"Hey Kids... Could you lend me a hand with a couple of stuff? I think Lyra and Elizabeth might want to be alone for a while." Lardin said as he put down three crates near the entrance of the deck, Sturbur was right behind him as well, he however only carried one crate and the two went down the ladder towards the boats.
Almost everyone went with him however I had a bit of a concern about all of this, so I slipped away as the group followed Lardin and Sturbur.
Of course as soon as the noise in the area died down, a faint conversation could be heard.
"So, you asked him to join you as a guard?"
"Yes, Yes I did. But for now, I want to know how strong he is, you know very well how brutal the training is here."
"obviously, Batalonia is a nation founded upon the best materials, however because of those great materals, they don't have any land to grow, and we have been the ones keeping them from getting out."
"Yeah...I know it now, I just didn't want to believe it..."
"Look Lyra, your job right now isn't to dwindle in the past and look at the world struggle, that can be resolved later. However, I would keep my head down with this and just focus on my job. And your job right now is... Is to focus and try to become a great queen, Fraduitch is a lovely man."
"Ugh, don't even get me started with him, it pains me that I will have to take his side as his bride."
"Why what's the matter with him?"
"First off, he's lazy beyond comprehension and is a player, always hanging out with other women and not even paying attention to the wedding, I swear on Arceus's name that if he doesnt change his manners towards me. I won't attend the wedding he can go screw himself for all I care." Lyra said as I just stood there, shocked at what I was hearing, however I felt a tiny bit stressed and relieved at the same time, she obviously was supposed to have a marriage, but the guy she was supposed to marry sounded like a piece of crap.
I however kept on listening in.
"Well, I guess you still have your Mother and Father."
"Supervisor's... Not parents, you know what happened."
"well obviously... Your parents did have quite the... Diversity shall I say, I may be your grandmother, but your grandfather was the one who resembles your father. He always was quite the charming man. But he did have his flaws." Elizabeth stated before I heard someone rummage through something, the notice of glass hitting one another was all that could be heard as I stepped closer to the window.
" anything else? " I heard Elizabeth's voice and a sigh from Lyra.
" no, let's get this... Over with." She said almost in a sigh of defeat. The next thing that I heard somehow resembled the sounds made by tribes during a ritual, no high sounds but it seemed deep, it almost worked on me as well as I fell into a trance right outside the window as I felt my head start spinning.
My composure however slowly returned as I began to listen once more.
"So grandma... How long till my death?"
I was shocked to hear Lyra talk about it so nonchalantly. Elizabeth took a deep breath as she opened the window. "about 3 ye-" She said as my gaze met hers.
"snooping around... Are we? Give me the frying pan Lyra" I scrammed from my position and ran way back to my room, inevitably getting hit in the helmet with the frying pan as I ran, hearing it hit the floor as I scratched my head, eventually just thinking about what she just told Lyra, my heart was racing as I closed the door behind myself and leaned against it only thinking about it a little. Was she going to die or something in three years?
My thoughts scammed from my head as I heard a knock on the door with a "open up!" as the voice was masculine without a doubt, as I opened it I was face to face with a Rampardos who handed me a spear, pretty much just throwing it at me as I landed on the ground, unlike what I expected it was actually made out of metal.
By the time I wanted to thank him he vanished from my sight, I looked out but to see only a few houses on the wooden platform ring, and Lyra grabbing the frying pan and looking at me before going back inside and pulling the curtains over the windows. I however was bored out of my mind as I walked back into my hut, slowly taking my helmet off and taking out my notebook once again, flipping through it, back to front as I did write down some techniques in detail into this book. Knowing that I'm in for a ride since I'd be facing Grej in the morning to prove my worth.
