II
Sorry it's taken me so long to get this chapter out, life has gotten incredibly busy for me lately meaning I haven't had much time to write. Anyway, let's get this chapter started and I hope it was worth the wait.
Aviva's POV
"I swear to the gods when I get home I am sleeping for a week," I yawned as I walked through the forests of Argus.
My teammates and I had been extremely busy these past few weeks helping cleanup and fix Haven Academy after it was attacked by the White Fang. Thankfully we had been in the main city of Mistral when the academy went under attack so we were able to help with repairs almost immediately. It would've taken less time if more huntsmen had shown up but apparently Mistral was seriously lacking in good huntsmen because nobody but us, a faunus militia group from Menagerie, and a team of students was there to help. But whatever, since the majority of the repairs were finished my team sent me to Argus to get the home that we collectively owned spruced up since we hadn't been there in months.
Pausing, I took a look around the forest trying to see if there were any Grimm around. Barely two hours ago there had been a major Grimm attack in the city so it was a good idea to keep vigilant in case a few monsters had become attracted to a stray feeling of worry.
I activated my semblance which granted me an enhancement of whichever one of my five senses I chose and listened intently. Birds....melting snow....footsteps? No, I listened harder, those footsteps sounded to light to be a Grimm's meaning they had to belong to a person. I almost ignored it until I heard a new sound accompanying the steps. It sounded like groaning and it was quickly followed by a loud thudding noise.
I quickly switched my sense enhancement from hearing to vision and looked around, stretching my vision as far as it would go. Finally about a mile away I spotted a person lying face down about five feet from a river's edge.
I quickly raced over there to see if there was anything I could do to help. I gently shook the man's shoulder only to get a groan in response.
"Ok plan B," I muttered as I reached down to at least try and get him into a sitting position. But as soon as I put my hand on his back I noticed a pattern stitched onto his jacket, a wilting rose in a bed of white nightshade.
I took a few tentative steps back, "you're Adam Taurus..."
This was bad, Adam was a wanted terrorist and as a huntress it was my job to bring someone like him to the authorities. But on the other hand he was severely injured and it was also my job as a huntress to help people in need. I was torn on what to do.
I bit my lip as I weighed my options before finally deciding to take him home. Once I got there I would write a letter to my teammates to ask for a second opinion.
So with that decided I pulled Adam to his feet and walked...well more like dragged him to the cabin. I laid him on the couch before removing his wet boots, jacket, shirt and pants. I put the clothing in front of the fireplace so they would dry off and then got to work assessing Adam's injuries. Thankfully, due to taking a dip in that icy river slowing his blood flow, I didn't think he was in danger of bleeding out from those large stab wounds on his chest. Still, due to how close they were to his heart and lungs I was worried there might be internal damage that I couldn't see. Regardless I cleaned the wounds up and stitched them closed before bandaging his torso. I then laid his left arm across his chest before bandaging it as well and using a spare piece of cloth to make a makeshift sling. It didn't take a genius to look at the swelling of his arm to tell it was broken.
I then did my best to give him some pain reliever medicine, knowing he would more then likely be feeling the full force of his injuries when he finally woke up. I was also hoping this would stave off the fever that I could tell was already starting to develop.
I pulled a thin blanket over him and stepped back to give him one last look over. Seeing him sleeping like that you almost could forget he was a wanted murderer. Almost.
I yawned and rubbed my eyes as my exhaustion from earlier began to rear its head.
I walked down the hall to one of the bedrooms and basically collapsed on the bed. And as I drifted off to sleep I couldn't help but hope that deciding to help Adam wouldn't come back to bite me.
