Stupid Foolish Thing

1996

The moment he ended up things with Irene he dashes to look for her but she was no longer in the restaurant. Jungkook was left alone with a small red velvet box in his hand.

"If you're looking for her, she already left 10 minutes ago." He said, reaching for the wine glass and drink the contents of it in one go.

Jungkook didn't look up, he shake his head and smirk. "You know what she said to me?" He put the wine glass down and chuckled with no amusement. "She said, she was waiting for someone and when I asked her who? She only smiled at me and shrugged." This time Jungkook lift his gaze to look at Taehyung. His eyes were hard-rimmed and fixed before an unamused smirk formed onto the corner of his lips.

"What an odd thing to break up with someone right?" Jungkook scoffed. Taehyung's jaw tightened as his knuckles turned white from clenching his fist too hard. "I'm sorry."

"You shouldn't be. I'm not yet done with her. Lisa is mine." Jungkook chuckled darkly, which made Taehyung raised a perfect brow.

"You don't treat her like a possession, Jungkook. She doesn't belong to anyone." And before Taehyung can say something to his friend more, he already walked away and left Jungkook alone, who's gripping the red velvet box too tight.

Taehyung on the other hand, search the street. She just left the restaurant 10 minutes ago, Lisa must be here somewhere.

As he run, Irene's words filled his mind like a broken tape.

"Does she know you love her?"

Taehyung ran without thinking where to go to, he just let his feet lead him. His eyes looking for every corner as his chest is pounding so fast.

"No."

He saw a bus stop that go through to their neighborhood. Taehyung quickly dashed his way to reach the bus but it started moving and panic aroused in him. He started running twice as fast looking at the window of the bus checking each person riding it but the ride was more faster than him.

"Lalisa!!!" He shouted loud when the bus outrun him, as his knees wobbled in exhaustion from running 15 minutes straight.

The next thing he knew he was kneeling on the ground and catching his breath.

"Then what are you waiting for, Taehyung? Because if you really love someone, you say it."

"Fuck." Taehyung cursed under his breath as he punched the ground for being angry with himself.

He was cursing nonstop when he heard faint footsteps nearing him. He slowly look at it and saw a pair of white shoes in front of him. He lifted his face and a smiling long haired girl tilt her head confused.

"What are you doing kneeling on the ground, Tae?" She asked amused. She was pursing her lips into a thin line, trying not to laugh at his state.

"You say it right there. Out loud. Otherwise the moment just passes you by."

Taehyung quickly stood up and brushes of the dirt on his pants as well with his hands. The brunette couldn't contain her laughters anymore as she giggled at the frantic of her friend.

Taehyung stop and watched her and like every damn time he was again hypnotized with her. "Lalisa."

"I heard you called my name, so I stop the bus and—"
He didn't let her finished when Taehyung pulled her and locked her in his arms.

"You fucking scared the shit out of me. I thought I'm gonna lose you." Taehyung hugged her so tight, it made her gasped. His heart is beating frantically, it started to hurt. He closes his eyes and pulled her even more, Lalisa was confused with all of this but she rested her chin on his shoulder as her hands made its way to his back.

"Tae, we lived in the same neighborhood. You won't lose me." She said comfortingly, patting his back to calm him down.

"You said you will not say 'no' to him, yet you did." He pulled her out a little bit so that he can look at her face. Taehyung reached for her cheek with his shaky hand, he couldn't believe she's in front of him... Taehyung could only sighed in relief as he rested his forehead on hers.

Lisa made a cute little frown as she tried to argue with her opinion,
"Well, I didn't exactly say 'no'. I said—" But Taehyung didn't even care what she's saying, he just smiled with closed eyes, loving the warm that produces with their close proximity.

As he let out the words he's been keeping for a long time.
"I love you." Taehyung whispered like a soft feather that stops Lisa from blabbering nonsense.

It felt like her whole world shakes, waking her up with everything.
"W-what?" She stuttered, eyes were wide like saucers. Did she heard it right?

Taehyung now opened his eyes as he locked gaze with the woman who occasionally occupies his dreams and every waking moments.
"I love you, Lalisa Manoban."
Slowly the corner of his lips lift into her favorite smile of his, that boxy smile makes her heart flutter every time yet she's been ignoring it the whole time, but now... everything has changed.

He loves her.

Jennie sighed as she remembers all of the stories her father told her.
"Come on, Joonie. Grandpa must be waiting." She forced a smile.

They both get out from the car and help her lover take out her things and souvenirs.

"Thank you for being here." Jennie tiptoed and reach for his cheek to kiss him, Namjoon bend down a little bit to let his small girlfriend reach him.

"Anything for you." He smiled as they went inside the Manoban's Residence.

First thing she saw was her grandpa in the kitchen fixing medicines on a tray. A small smile lifted on her lips.

"Hello, hal-abeoji I'm home."
Jennie went for a hug and the old man welcomed her.

"Thank God you came home safely, how's your flight and Paris?"
He smiled at his grand daughter lovingly.

"Oh it was the best, hal-abeoji!" Jennie answered enthusiastically which made the old man laughed.

"That's good then." He touched his grand daughter's cheek as he shifted his gaze to other person in the kitchen.

"It's nice to see you again, sir." Namjoon bowed at the old man respectfully which earned him a smile and a nod.

"Thank you for bringing my granddaughter safe here, young man."
Jennie laughed at their conversation like she was a princess needed a protection.

"You guys, I can handle myself." She pouted teasingly at them.

"Of course, baby. They must not be deceived by your height." Namjoon played along. "Yah!!!" The small girl yelled as laughters filled the room.

But when Jennie take a good look at what her grandfather was preparing earlier, she can't help but wonder...
"Where's mom by the way?"
Her eyes is still on the tray and the old man smiled at her as he pat his granddaughter's shoulder.

"She's in her room resting." He replied, and went back on arranging some things on the tray. Namjoon on the other hand offered his girlfriend to take her suitcases upstairs in her room which Jennie thankfully agreed.

The moment Namjoon went out of the kitchen, Jennie faced her grandfather.
"I bought her something she would definitely love. I'll just go check on her okay? You should also rest, hal-abeoji." Jennie gave her grandpa a quick hug as she also went upstairs to check her mom.

But the thought of what her father said to her, made her halt from twisting the knob of her mother's door. Jennie heaved a deep sigh.
"Fate had been so cruel. You're so lucky, mom... you don't get to experienced dad's pain."
