The day of the trial

Phoenix was chilling in the defendant lobby with Ema until the time has come. He sighs, thinking to himself.

"Wright are you alright?"

"Huh? Well.. sure."

"You look like you're disturbed."

"Well.. nothing is adding up in this trial! This whole case might as well be a fake!"

"Well.. There's no backing out of this one now. We have to go in now!"

Phoenix sighs and they go inside. Ema sits down in the defendant chair and Phoenix takes his place. Edgeworth would be in his usual spot. With a smirk on his face. Phoenix has a bad feeling about the case, let alone that he hasn't talked to any witness nor has any evidence to provide. The judge starts off the trial,

"We're here to see if Ema is guilty or not of a murder that occurred a few days ago. Is the prosecution and the defense ready?"

"The prosecution is ready your honor."

Phoenix gulped.

"The... Defense is ready your honor."

"Now..Edgeworth you may call your first witness."

"I call.. Ema Skye to the stand!"

Ema walks up to the stand.

"Name and Profession."

"My name is Ema Skye.. and I'm planning to become a scientific investigator when I'm older!"

"Mhm. Now.. is it true that you were with the victim when the incident occurred?"

Before Ema could get a word out, Phoenix slammed his hands on the desk.

"OBJECTION!

Edgeworth would look at Phoenix.

"What is it Wright?"

"This case is a complete sham! It practically doesn't exist!"

"Oh? But it does Wright."

Edgeworth pulls out every evidence that he was carrying. He pulled out the keychain, flowers, the bear, the pins, and the knife. Phoenix's eyes widen a little but was also a bit confused.

"Flowers..? Pins? a Bear? What does this even have to do with anything?"

"Simple. She was going to murder the victim and pretend she was going to hold a funeral for somebody."

"What is the victim's name even? Nothing is making sense here Miles!"

Edgeworth was starting to sweat a little. He doesn't know how to shake Phoenix off his tale now.

"Who's the victim? This looks like romantic stuff. Let alone the only thing that makes sense is the damn knife!"

Ema looks at Edgeworth.

"Somebody busted."

Edgeworth shakes his head. He refuses to say it simply.

"I mean, you may not see it Phoenix. But the judge can clearly see how the murderer can commit murder with these items."

Phoenix looks over at the judge and he nods his head.

"It's quite simple really."

"WHAT?!"

"But however, I'm on a tight schedule. Since all of these items are tied to Ema Skye, completely. I have to say.. Ema Skye is.. Guilty."

Phoenix's jaw dropped. He doesn't understand what is going on even. Before his mind just died on him, he hears,

"HOLD IT!"

Everyone looks at Ema.

"Those pins.. The pins aren't mine."

Judge raises his eyebrows, pretending to be in shock. As for Phoenix he just shakes his head and proceeds to leave.

"No. Just. No."

"Wright? Where are you going?!"

"ANYWHERE BUT HERE! THIS DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE! THE MURDER SCENE DOESN'T EXIST, THE EVIDENCE LOOKS LIKE A PURE ROMANTIC WHILE THE KNIFE MAKES THE ONLY SENSE HERE! THIS ISN'T FOR ME!"

Phoenix proceeds to stomp out the court. Edgeworth sighs and grabs the keychain and the pins. He hops over the desk and goes after him. He runs after him in hopes to catch up with him.

"WRIGHT!"

"WHAT NOW EDGEWORTH?!"

Phoenix turns around and looks back at Edgeworth who is looking at him. Edgeworth and Phoenix would be in a hallway with windows, letting the sun shine in. Phoenix looks at him.

"I seen messier trials. Like the SL-9 incident with Bruce Goodman. Or the murder with Will Powers. But this. This isn't it. I'm going home."

Edgeworth sighs.

"No..Wright. Look there wasn't any trial in the first place. This was.. for you.. really."

"Oh? Got proof of that?"

Edgeworth presented the keychain Phoenix handed him when they were children.

"...You still have that after all these years?"

Edgeworth nodded his head.

"I kept this in memory of you Phoenix. After the years I known you, I wanted to tell you something.. you left me saddled with unnecessary feelings.. But.. Now these feelings became necessary."

"What are those feelings?"

"...I like you Phoenix. I been debating how to tell you. I guess I didn't think this mess through."

"...Edgeworth...Why couldn't you tell me like a normal person would?"

"...No idea really."

"..So Ema was never framed for murder?"

"No she just knew that I liked you. The Judge bet 20 dollars that I would confess first. He's here to pick up his 20."

Phoenix chuckles a bit and then he starts to laugh. Edgeworth looks at him with a confused look.

"All of this madness for this?"

"...Yeah?"

Phoenix laughs harder and walks towards him. Edgeworth stood his ground looking at him.

"You....are so stupid Edgeworth."

Edgeworth shrugged but really he did felt hurt inside. Edgeworth was always good at hiding his true feelings.

"But.. Answer me this Phoenix."

"What?"

"You're guilty of stealing of my heart. Do you plea guilty of me doing the same?"

"..Do i?"

"....Do you?"

"Figure that one out Edgeworth."

"I demand you give your testimony."

"Well.. There's not to much say here. But if you don't mind, I can give my testimony in your office."

Edgeworth looks to the side, then back at him.

"A-are you serious?"

"More serious then you? Yes."

Phoenix walks off, and Edgeworth walks back into the court room. Ema looks at Edgeworth.

"Is everything all right?"

"He said this fake trial was more of a mess then the incident of SL-9 with Bruce Goodman. But.. he said he refuses to say anything unless.. he's in my office.. alone with me.."

Ema walks off the stand. The Judge having his eyes widen,

"Take a week off. You'll need it."

Edgeworth covers his face and shakes his head.

"God help me.."

Ema yells while walking away,

"YOU'LL NEED MORE THEN GOD!"

"SHUT IT GIRL!"

Edgeworth slowly starts to walk out of the room. Re-thinking his life decisions.

"...Why couldn't I just say I like him, like a normal person would?"
