Denis POV
Before us stood the bloody girl. Except this time, there were more than one of her. In fact, there were dozens. This is why she hadn't done anything to me and Elijah yet. She was busy preparing for this very moment.
"Did you think you did it? Think you escaped? It's not that easy," She declared, standing front and center with her army of clones behind her, giggling after finishing her sentence.
"Bring it on," I say.
So it begins.
Ethan POV
We dart through the forest. Me and Denis each hold one of Elijah's arms around our shoulders while his legs drag behind him as we seem to run faster than Usain Bolt. We have a head start on the army of monsters, and we're a solid 20 feet away from them. I feel confident, ready to achieve the accomplishment of survival when Alex suddenly collapses.
He's having an asthma attack. Corl and Sub pick him up and carry him the way we were carrying Elijah. Suddenly, I realize that Elijah's fallen unconscious too, probably from all of the blood loss.
I run faster, with the army of monsters only about 5 feet away now. It can't end like this, not with how far we've come and how close we are. They try to grab a hold of my shirt, but I jerk it away just before I got swept away. This is the scariest moment of my life and my heart is beating a million times a minute.
It was so dark and I could trip over anything. We began to grow tired and slow down. After slowing down though, I realized I shouldn't. Everyone's life depends on if just one person gets swept away and dies or not. We pass the tent. I see the car in the distance. I try to run faster, but my legs suddenly give out. The stampede of monsters is mere inches away from me now. I can't die like this. I get up, and regain my abilities. I grab a hold of Elijah's unconscious arm, putting it around my shoulder once again. We're so close, so close to both life and death.
Finally, we're out of the woods and onto the pavement, where the car is parked. Suddenly, the monsters disappear and it becomes day time, breaking the curse of the forest that I didn't even knew existed. We all slam onto the floor, breathing absurdly heavy.
"What just happened?" Denis asks.
"I think we did it..," Corl answers.
"Not yet.. We still have to get to the hospital," I correct him. We were all covered in cuts and bruises from head to toe. We had ripped clothing too. We were a mess. We get in the car and rush to the hospital. Elijah is still unconscious and losing blood. Alex is still having an asthma attack. I didn't know how to feel. Everything seemed like a dream, but it wasn't. This was real.
We finally get to the hospital and rush into the emergency room, carrying Elijah and Alex. Both of them were deathly close to flatlining. Alex gets hooked up to a nebulizer. Elijah gets blood from a blood donor and gets a cast put on his leg.
The doctors also gave the rest of us a check up, considering the state we were in. Turns out, Denis has a sprained wrist and gets a sling. We all wipe the blood off of ourselves and get bandages wrapped around our major cuts. We all survived. This traumatizing misfortune will stick with me forever, though as a good memory rather than a bad one.
