9. Dealing With Muggles
Y/N's POV
I made my way to where Nick, Axel and Kieran were at Shell Cottage and knocked on the door before walking in, Ginny had gone to help Mrs Weasley out. I had told the Order that I was planning to stay for a while longer before I ultimately had to return to Malfoy Manor and face Voldemort.
"Hey everyone!" I said, looking at the three who were playing Exploding Snap. I casted a spell around the rook to prevent any eavesdropping.
"Y/N!" Kieran greeted.
Axel smiled. "Hey man, how are you?"
"Could be better," I shrugged, "like always. I see you're playing Exploding Snap."
Nick nodded. "Want me to deal you in next round?"
I nodded and sat down to watch what was going on. All three of them seems absolutely fascinated by the concept of this game. I couldn't blame them, they had all grown up around Muggles and magic was new and intriguing to them.
"So what have the Order done about you guys?" I asked.
Axel replied. "Mr Weasley spoke to this woman named McGonagall who said I would be able to receive some sort of tuition at Hogwarts. Obviously I'm a bit more advanced than first year level but I'm not as good as the people in my year. That means I'll get private lessons once in a while just to learn the basics."
I nodded before turning to Nick who merely just shrugged. "Probably just hang around the Weasleys, Kieran will be here as well.
Kieran nodded. "I'm doing a bit more research though, but this time with accurate books that some people from the Order were kind enough to let me borrow."
He pointed to a desk which was filled with all his notes and scribbles and books.
"What about you?" Kieran asked. "What are your plans?"
"Well I'm staying here for a while longer but then I have to go back to Malfoy Manor." I told them.
"Back to your grandfather who hates the girl you love who's currently Nick's girlfriend?" Axel said with a smirk.
Nick and I both rolled our eyes.
"That's one way to put it." I said with a scoff.
"So what's he going to make you do this time?" Nick asked.
I shrugged. "I've been MIA for a while so he'll probably want me to explain-"
"-what are you going to tell him?" Kieran asked curiously.
"Probably just that I had to deal with stuff, I'll make it up when I get there." I replied.
"Stay safe mate." Nick said and I nodded gratefully.
"You three stay safe as well yeah? I'll see Axel soon at Hogwarts but I'll come visit Nick and Kieran as often as I can."
"You really do have a soft spot for us don't you?" Axel said cheekily.
"Obviouslly," Nick said plainly, "otherwise he would've killed us by now."
All four of us laughed in unison before spending the rest of the time that I had playing Exploding Snap and talking at the same time. I had learnt about their childhood and they had learnt about mine, back when everything was simplier.
When it was time to depart, I made my way downstairs and my mother was there.
"Mum," I said with a polite nod, "I'm going now."
She looked at me sadly but nodded. "You'll stay safe won't you Y/N?"
"I promise." I said, before embracing my mother in a hug.
After saying goodbye to everyone else and wishing for their safety, I left the Shell Cottage and Apparated back to the Manor. At the door, I was greeted by Madison who immediately pulled me in for a kiss.
It wasn't the same as my kisses with Hermione but I still kissed her back.
"Where did you go? The Dark Lord has been extremely angry..." she said fearfully.
I grimaced. "What happened?"
"When you didn't return he blamed some Death Eaters for losing you, he thought that you had died. He cursed everyone there...including me and my parents."
I pulled the dark-haired girl in for a hug. "I'm sorry Madison...you don't deserve that."
I knew that Madison was naturally a very cold-hearted person but there were times where she showed a flicker of emotion that made me truly feel bad for the life that had been decided for her. she had grown up surounded by Death Eaters and wasn't granted the privelge of an education and instead was brought up with the sole purpose of joining Voldemort's army.
Madison stayed hugging me for longer than I expected but I didn't move back. Instead I held her in my arms until she finally moved away, for a second I saw sadness across her face but that instantaneously changed back to her normal, cold and manipulative expression.
"He'll want to see you." she told me before pointing to a door.
I nodded, took a deep sigh, before I pushed the door open to reveal Voldemort sitting on his own.
"Grandfather, I'm alive." I told him.
He looked at me with a smile. "Y/N my boy! I thought the Order had gotten the best of you."
I shook my head. "A spell knocked me out the air and I landed in some Muggles' home but don't worry...I dealt with them."
Voldemort assumed that I meant that I had killed them and let out a satisfied laugh. "Very good my boy. Now that you have returned, I have a task for you."
I nodded. "What is it that you need?"
"Firstly, I will need you to return to Hogwarts and keep an eye out for the student community within the school. If there is anything suspicious within them I want you to tell my immediately."
The return to Hogwarts was in a weeks time, I had everything ready and although I knew that Harry, Ron and Hermione wouldn't be there, I was still semi-excited to return.
"Secondly, I have some prisoners. I want you to take Draco and Madison and show them the ropes," Voldemort instructed, "make a show out of it." he added with an evil smirk.
I knew immediately what Voldemort was asking me to do. He had people locked up and he wanted me to teach Draco and Madison how to torture them to insanity before ending their misery and killing them.
I obliged to his requests and went upstairs to find Draco and Madison and monotonously instructed them to meet me by where Voldemort kept the prisoners.
"What are we doing Y/N?" Draco asked timidly.
I continued walking forward and didn't turn back. "The Dark Lord desires me to teach you two how to...dispose of his enemies."
"Am I going to have to kill someone?" Draco asked, obviously scared.
I chose not to reply even though I knew the answer. Draco had never killed someone before and I didn't want him to lose that part of innocence within him.
I opened the door and it revealed five battered, tired looking Muggles.
"W-who are you?" one of them stuttered.
I ignored them and turned to Draco and Madison. Madison looked almost escatic and there was this crazy, almost terrifying, look on her face.
Draco, on the other hand, looked absolutely terrified.
"What the Dark Lord likes is to play with his food before he kills them." I explained montonously, I refused to show any bit of emotion for it was a weakness.
It was something Voldemort would see and prey on.
"Let me try!" Madison said excitedly.
I stopped her. "Haste can lead to stupid and rushed decisions which leads to mistakes and my grandfather certainly does not like mistakes. Let me demonstrate."
I rolled up my sleeves carelessly and looked at this man in front of me. He was a middle-aged man who looked like he was pretty much already dead. I refused to let myself feel sorry for the man and instead, like a switch, I turned off all emotions that I could feel leaving me staring at him with empty eyes.
This was a skill I had aquired, it was like I had a switch that could turn my emotions on and off. It was like one moment I felt everything and the next I felt nothing.
I closed and reopened my eyes before looking at the man.
"CRUCIO!" I bellowed.
The man screamed as he was filled with unbearable pain, he writhed and squirmed as the other Muggles watched, paralysed with fear.
I continued and continued before the man reached his breaking point.
"JUST KILL ME!" he roared. "JUST END MY LIFE."
"As you wish." I said plainly before looking at the man.
"Avada Kedavra."
The man was dead within seconds and using my wand, I lifted his lifeless corpse and threw his body to the side.
I turned and looked at Madison who watched me with wide and admiring eyes. Draco watched me with fear as his hands trembled slightly.
"I'll go first," Madison said with a mischievious smirk, she picked her victim and settled on a woman who looked like she had just entered adulthood.
"Crucio!" she yelled gleefully.
The joy that I was witnessing what scary yet somehow...attractive. I quickly removed these thoughts from my head as I watched Madison continued to torture the woman, the sounds of her screams sounding like music to her ears.
I could feel Draco shaking behind me. I remembered what I had promised to him, the pact that I had made with him.
"Draco, you don't have to do it. Just leave." I told him, staring at the platinum-haired boy.
He trembled slightly. "Will he punish me?"
I shook my head. "He won't, I'll make sure of it."
I turned my head just in time to see Madison finish with the woman, a jet of green light firing from her wand and hitting the woman.
"Did you like the show?" Madison whispered seductively into my ear, sending shivers down my spine.
I focused my gaze forwards. "There are still three more."
"What about Draco?" she asked.
"He won't be participating." I replied calmly, dismissing Draco.
The boy hastily exited the room and as the door shut, Madison spoke again.
"You are defying the Dark Lord's orders." she told me sternly.
I shrugged. "It's fine. There's more for you anyways."
That seemed to of made the girl happy and she gleefully taunted the Muggles before picking her next victim. I stayed back and watched it all happen, slight amusement in my eyes.
It seemed like Madison Whitmore was more of a psychopath that I was.
And honestly, it was kind of attractive.
