8. Making Amends

Hermione's POV

I got up pretty early the next morning and looked around groggily for Y/N. However, he was nowhere to be found. I had half-expected him to leave anyways, I was preparing myself to not see him when I woke up but part of me wished he was still there.

It was confusing for me, I was with Nick now but if I was being honest, he was just helping me fill in the hole that Y/N left. I knew it would make me a bad person but I would always go back to Y/N, I would always choose him.

But right now, things were looking difficult for me and Y/N. He was with this other girl now, I disliked her greatly. Maybe most of that dislike was spurred on by jealousy but she didn't seem to me like a good person. Of course she wasn't a good person, she was a Death Eater.

"What's going on?" Ron said with a yawn, stretching his arms.

"Where's Y/N?" Harry asked, grabbing his glasses.

I shrugged. "Gone. Just left."

The two boys looked at me disappointedly, I think Ron was hoping that Y/N would join us on our adventure but me and Harry knew that Y/N had other places and jobs to do.

I strode over towards where my bag was to grab toothbrushes to brush our teeth and whilst I was rummaging around, my hands met a piece of paper. I held onto it and pulled it out, it was a small piece of paper with a very recognisable handwriting on it.

Hermione,
I'll see you again soon. I hope you, Harry and Ron all stay safe and know that I will be watching over you guys in whatever way I can.

Love always,
Y/N

I pulled the piece of paper close towards my chest and sighed, even though he was probably miles away he still knew how to make my heart melt. There was just something about him that made me fall for him, over and over again.

Y/N's POV

It turned out that travelling in the middle of the night was pretty stupid, I ended up stopping at an all-night diner and staying for a cup of coffee and some food.

"What's a young lad like you doing here?" a middle-aged man called over to me.

I ignored him and continued sipping my coffee. This seemed to of annoyed the man as he walked over to my table and sat opposite me.

"I said, what's a young lad like you doing here." he repeated angrily.

Still I refused to look at him or even answer.

"Look at me boy!" he roared, slamming his hand down on the table. He was definitely drunk and it was very unimpressive considering that it was probably around four in the morning.

I placed my cup of coffee down and looked at the man with stern eyes. "I'd appreciate it if you left me alone."

It seemed like he was very intent on staying there so I quickly finished my coffee and walked outside, only to turn around to see him following me. I tried to ignore him and continue walking down the dark path but suddenly I felt something strangling me.

He was drunk and sloppy so it was easy to escape from the man's movements but I was now feeling extremely angry and raged that I wanted him to suffer more. I sent two kicks to him, leaving him gasping for air on the floor. I then looked around to see if anyone was watching before taking out my wand.

"Avada Kedavra!"

Green light came from my wand and struck the man, rendering him lifeless within seconds. This meant nothing to me and the fact that I had just killed someone didn't even scare me. If anything, I had fun killing him. He angered me and in response, I killed him.

After disposing of his body and making sure no trace would ever be lead back to me, I recomposed myself before trying to continue on my journey to make amends with people in the Order.

I knew that the Burrow wouldn't be safe after the wedding so I racked my brain to try and find out where they could possibly be hiding. I quickly put the pieces together and concluded that the Weasleys and others would quite probably be at Bill and Fleur's cottage.

I instantaneously arrived thanks to Apparation and noticed hte tiny and quaint cottage. It was surrounded by the ocean and it looked very relaxing. I listened to the waves crash and roar as I approached the doorstep of Bill's home.

I straightened myself and knocked on the door twice before stepping back slightly. Seconds later the door opened and I was greeted by Nick.

"They've still got you on door duty?" I said with a laugh before embracing Nick like a brother.

"How are you?" Nick asked with a large smile.

I shrugged. "I could be better. Who's here?"

Nick listed all the people and it was most of the Weasleys plus Nick, Axel and Kieran with some members of the Order popping in and out occasionally.

"Who's there?" a voice called out from behind Nick.

"It's Y/N." Nick called back.

Arthur and Molly Weasley quickly appeared and they looked at me with shocked expressions.

"I'm sorry." was all that I could utter.

I didn't know what else to say, I stood there, almost begging for their forgiveness.

Mrs Weasley was the first to embrace me in a motherly hug.

"Oh Y/N," she said sadly, "this must be so hard for you."

I pulled away and looked down at her sadly. "It is Mrs Weasley, but I know I still have a role to play."

Arthur Weasley approached me and gave me a firm handshake. "The Order appreciates everything you're doing, but you must understand why we have our concerns."

I nodded. "I understand, you are at crossroads about whether I can still be trusted or not. I can assure you, I am still on your side Mr Weasley. There is no one I want to see more dead than the Dark Lord."

Mr Weasley nodded at me before gesturing for me to come in.

"Your friends are here. Nick urged us to take them with us after the wedding." Mr Weasley explained.

I nodded and walked into the cottage, it had a pleasant atmosphere. In the main kitchen, there were a few members of the Order plus the rest of the Weasley family bar Ron and Ginny.

"Your mum and Issac are coming later." Mrs Weasley told me quietly. I think she understood that me and my family weren't on the best of terms right now.

I nodded. "I want to try and speak to them...I don't want them to hate me."

"They'll come around." Mrs Weasley said reassuringly, giving me a soft pat on the back.

I continued walking towards the room where members of the Order were. There were a couple such as Remus Lupin and Tonks as well as Weasley family members like Bill, Fleur, Fred and George.

"What happened to your ear?" I asked George.

He looked at me sadly. "The night we tried to get Harry to the Burrow some Death Eaters got me."

My jaw dropped slightly. A wave of guilt flowed through me even though I wasn't the Death Eater who did this to George, it was Madison.

"What else happened that night?" I asked the Order.

Remus replied. "We lost Mad-Eye and Harry lost Hedwig."

I gulped, I was the cause of Hedwig's death and I was certain that Thadicus Whitmore was behind the murder of Mad-Eye.

"I'm sorry guys." I said quietly.

All eyes were on me and I took a deep sigh before speaking.

"I'm here because I want you guys to know that I'm still on your side, no matter how many things the Dark Lord makes me do, my true loyalty will forever be to you guys. I want to see him gone, I don't want to live under his rule anymore. I just want you guys to forgive me for the unspeakable sins that I've commited. I know and won't deny that I've changed into someone far darker than I was previously but that is because of who has been around me and who has influenced me. However, I'm still trying me best to be a good guy and try my best to help and serve the Order. Starting off with the fact that the Dark Lord's name is Taboo, meaning that if you speak it he will know of your location."

Everyone listened to me and there were a murmurs around the table.

"We forgive you Y/N," Fred said with a smile.

George continued. "to us you're still that little boy who followed Issac around all the time.

I smiled at the twins before looking at the rest of the Order.

"How can we trust you after what you did?" Remus demanded, talking about my father.

I sighed. "I deeply regretted my actions Remus, but there was simply nothing else I could do."

Remus looked at me suspiciously and I looked him right in the eye, trying to tell him how sorry I was.

"What if he turns on us? What if he's spilling our information to him?" Remus continued.

A voice spoke from behind us all. "He won't."

I turned and saw my mother, looking as graceful as ever. However, it looked like she hadn't been getting enough sleep.

"There is one thing that triumphs all, and that is love. Evil cannot conquer love and I know my son loves someone truly. Someone he can't bear to lose."

All the other members nodded and agreed with what Joyce was saying.

She continued. "So we trust him, after all he wouldn't want to lose the one thing that completes him."

I nodded, agreeing with what my mother was saying. After light conversation broke out amongst the members, I made my way towards my mother and Issac.

"I'm so sorry mum," I said, almost on the brink of tears, "I didn't want to...he made me..."

My mum looked at me with a cold expression but it finally softened and she hugged me tightly.

"I know Y/N. I don't want to lose anymore of you. I love you so much and I want you to stay safe when you're with him."

I looked at my mum and smiled at her before hugging Issac brotherly.

"I miss you little brother." Issac said.

I smiled.

"I missed you too big brother."
