6. Return To Grimmauld Place

Y/N's POV

Chaos exploded around me as I quickly locked around for Kieran. I knew that Axel would probably stick around Nick and the Weasleys so they would be safe but Kieran had gone off, presumably to find that girl he was talking to.

"KIERAN!" I yelled but he was nowhere in sight. I scrambled around the panicked guests but there was no sign of the dark-haired boy.

In the end, I realised that maybe Kieran had gone off with the girls' family and had found safety so my best bet was to disappear from the scene before Death Eaters arrived. I closed my eyes and Disapparated away from the Burrow to a random field in the middle of nowhere.

I closed my eyes and exhaled, what was I supposed to do now?

I walked around the field, trying to figure out where I was. If this was the first location that came to mind, then surely it would've had some relevance to me. The fields were empty and the sky was dark as I wandered around, trying to decipher where on earth I was.

"Excuse me young man, are you lost?" a voice from behind asked.

I turned around and looked at who was speaking to me. It was an old woman who was looking at me with concerned eyes.

"No ma'am," I replied, "just needed some fresh air."

She nodded and took that as an answer before walking away. I watched her leave before continuing to walk towards a road that was dimly lit by some streetlights.

Suddenly, everything became familiar to me. This was an area near Hermione's house that we had briefly walked past when I went over to her house and stayed with her. I smiled bittersweetly to myself, reminiscing the memories. How I wished everything could go back to simplier times.

I closed my eyes to inhale some of the fresh night air but then something happened.

Someone had said Voldemort's name. He had made his own name Taboo meaning that whenever anyone said the word 'Voldemort' Death Eaters would be notified of the location of whoever said that.

I decided to check out who had said it and Apparated to the location. It was just outside a cafe in London and there was no way to look inside. I slowly walked towards the door and tried to open it, but it was locked. I pressed my ears against the door to listen into the hushed whispers.

"Someone's at the door..."

"I think it was just the wind Ron."

Everything clicked in my mind, this was where the Golden Trio had disappeared off to after the wedding.

"How did they know where we were?" said a voice I recognised to be Ron.

"You-you don't think you've still got your Trace on you, do you, Harry?"

"He can't have,, the Trace breaks at seventeen, that's Wizarding law, you can't put it on an adult."

"As far as you know. What if the Death Eaters have founda way to put it on a seventeen-year-old?"

"But Harry hasn't been near a Death Eater in the last twenty-four hours. Who's supposed to have put a Trace back on him?"

I knew Hermione would suspect me, because indeed Harry had been near a Death Eater in the last twenty-four hours, he had been around one a couple hours ago.

"If I can't use magic, and you can't use magic near me, without us giving away our position-" Harry began in a hushed whisper.

"We're not splitting up!"

"We need a safe place to hide, give us time to think things through."

"Grimmauld Place."

"Don't be silly, Harry, Snape can get in there!"

"Ron's dad said they've put up jinxes against him, and even if they haven't worked, so what? I swear, I'd like nothing better than to meet Snape!"

"But-"

"Hermione, where else is there? It's the best chance we've got. Snape's only one Death Eater. If I've still got the Trace on me, we'll have whole crowds of them on us wherever else we go."

I continued to eavesdrop on their conversation and when I heard movement towards the door I retracted back and moved to a very convenient alleyway nearby. I peered out and looked at the door of the cafe only to see Ron, Harry and Hermione all walk out. Seconds later, they had Apparated away to Grimmauld Place and I was faced with the decision of whether I wanted to follow them or not.

On one hand, I wanted to make sure that they were fine because I still had a soft spot for them and wouldn't want to see any of them dead. They were all amazing friends to me and I missed what the four of us used to be before everything changed. However, I knew that there was a high chance that none of them would trust me anymore after my actions so it would be hard to offer my help.

I decided, in the end, that maybe I should try clear the air with Harry and Hermione. I knew we didn't leave it on the best of terms the last time we spoke but I wanted them to know that I was still the good Y/N.

I closed my eyes and Apparated to Grimmauld Place, I knew that I would be able to enter because it was the Black family house, even though Sirius left it in Harry's possession which I didn't really care about.

The houses looked all the same and I glanced towards the door, I wanted to knock but I wasn't sure how they would react. As well as that, I wasn't sure if there were jinxes set up to prevent me from entering, I knew the Order had done that for Snape but I wasn't sure if they had done the same for me.

Walking up tentatively, I knocked on the door befreo straightening my clothes and looking straight forward. I took a deep sigh as I heard footsteps coming towards the door and braced myself for what could happen.

After what seemed like years, the door opened and the Golden Trio all looked at me, confused and unsure of what to door.

"Are you going to invite me inside or not?" I asked them politely, looking at them.

"And why should we do that?" Ron sneered, looking at me. I had changed my appearance so that I resembled the F/N Malfoy identity that was created for me after my 'death'.

"We can't trust you anymore." Harry said to me sternly.

"Well you'll have to." I said simply.

Hermione looked at Harry. "Let him in."

"How do you know where this is anyways?" Ron demanded.

I sighed. Maybe it was time to let Ron in and tell him.

"If you let me in," I told him, "I will explain everything."

Grudgingly and suspiciously, the three of them let me enter the house and thankfully, there were no jinxes set up against me, only Snape. I think the Order still trusted me.

I sighed as I walked into the living room of Grimmauld Place, preparing myself to talk to Ron and tell him my story.

"I think he needs to know." I told Hermione and Harry once I sat down in the living room.

Ron looked at us in confusion. "Tell me what?"

"He's Y/N." Harry said plainly.

"Y-Y/N?" Ron stuttered. "He's dead..."

"I'm not Ron," I said quietly before waving my wand so that I returned to my original appearance, "I'm here."

Ron stood up abruptly. "I don't know what kind of sick joke you guys are playing on me but Y/N is dead, I saw him get buried over two years ago!"

I looked worridly at Harry and Hermione before speaking.

"Ron, look at me," I said before taking a deep breath, "the Dark Lord can't kill me so when he hit me with the spell, I survived. Lucius Malfoy digged me up and I began living undercover as F/N Malfoy. That was when Dumbledore gave me the task of being a double agent so that I could spy on the Death Eaters for him. I had to become a Death Eater and I had to act like I was his right-hand man-"

"Why aren't you saying Vol-"

"SHUT UP!" I roared at Harry. "His name is Taboo. If you speak it, he knows where you are. That's how I found you guys."

They looked at me before Harry asked me a question. "Why are you still with them? Surely you can leave them?"

"And have a target on my back?" I said with a dry laugh. "Plus, I can still give the Order infomation if they still want to listen to me. Things have been difficult since Dumbledore's death..."

"Meaning they don't trust you anymore?" Hermione asked me.

I nodded. "And I don't blame them, I don't like the person I've become but with the people I'm surrounded with at Malfoy Manor, it's getting harder and harder to stay being a good guy."

During this whole time, Ron hadn't spoken at all but instead looked at me in shock. I was half-expecting a bad reaction from him, maybe he would scream and tell me that I was a traitor but instead I got what I least expected:

A hug.

As the ginger-haired boy hugged me, I hugged him back. I missed my childhood best friend and it felt good to finally have him back.

I smiled at everyone once Ron had pulled back.

"So what's your plan?" Ron asked me.

I shrugged. "I haven't been home for a while, ever since you guys pulled the Polyjuice Potion stunt I haven't seem him or any others. I've been hiding out in the Muggle world and came for Bill and Fleur's wedding-"

"-you were Steven." Harry said suddenly.

I nodded. "I want you guys to trust me again, please. I promise you I'm not a bad guy, I still want to help you out.

The three looked skeptically at each other before Harry sighed.

"Look Y/N, you're our best friend but you've done a lot. You would've killed Dumbledore if Snape wasn't there-"

"-he knew he was going to die anyways Harry," I defended, "he knew which is why he got Snape to do it. Snape isn't a bad guy."

Harry looked unsure, I wasn't sure if he believed it.

"If you want us to trust you, you're going to have to earn our trust."

I sighed, this was going to be difficult. I wanted to help them but I knew I still had a commitment to the Death Eaters and the Order.

"Fine."
