4. The Boys

Y/N's POV

I watched the boy in front of me. His movements were timid and he trembled under my glare. I eyed him suspiciously and the dark part inside of me was urging me to just kill him. If he couldn't forget what had just happened and I couldn't alter his memories, he was better off dead.

"What do you know." I asked him, my eyes meeting his.

He stumbled slightly. "I-I..." he gestured to his desk, "I've been researching."

I walked over to his desk and looked at the collection of books and notes. There were many books on witchcraft and wizardry and there were notes that I assumed that he had written himself.

"Water burns witches..." I muttered, "so that's why you sprayed water in my face. That's bullshit."

I continued glancing over at Kieran's notes, he seemed to of done and awful amount of research concerning witches and wizards.

"What made you believe they were real?" I asked him.

The boy trembled slightly before replying. "There have been mysterious deaths recently and people can't explain what really happened to them so they cover it up."

Death Eaters. They had been killing Muggles.

My eyes skimmed over all the resources Kieran had collected and briefly saw Harry's name.

"What do you know about Harry Potter?" I demanded.

"He supposedly survived that Dark Lord."

"What do you know about the Dark Lord?"

"That he wants to take over your world and kill Harry Potter."

Seriously. where was this kid getting his information? He had pages and pages of notes and research all dedicated to the magical world. There were notes on how to kill witches and wizards, with methods such as burning them or even mystical Potions, all of them were invalid, you could kill anyone at Hogwarts normally. Just because they possessed magical powers didn't make them any  more difficult to kill.

Unless they were Voldemort and made Horcruxes.

"Why couldn't I cast a spell on you?" I questioned Kieran, who was still looking at me fearfully.

He showed me a ring on his finger. "Someone sold me this and told me that if I wore it, no witch or wizard would be able to harm me."

I examined the ring. It was a variation of Fred, George and Issac's protective gear range that they sold at the shop. It had a simple shield charm attached to it meaning that whoever wore it would be immune from simple spells, including Obliviate.

"Where did you get this?"

He shrugged. "I was looking online and this random guy told me he could help me."

I nodded.

"Pack your stuff, take all your research, me and you are going on a little field trip." I quickly, smirking at the boy. There was more to him that I needed to find out and I would probably need Nick and Axel's help, considering that they were both Muggles.

Kieran quickly obliged and shoved all his research into his bag, when he looked around for another bag I stopped him and told him to give me his backpack.

I performed a quick extension spell giving him more space and he looked at me in awe.

"Carry on packing," I told him, "we haven't got all day."

Once he had finished, I told his family that he was going to stay over at my house for a bit and they agreed, letting me and Kieran exit their house.

I remembered Axel's address and I remembered that Nick was staying there so I decided that it would be quickest to Apparate over to them.

"Close your eyes, don't throw up." I warned Kieran before grabbing his arm and Apparating to where Axel's house were.

We showed up on the Smith's household's doorstep and I knocked loudly on their door. A grown man answered and looked at me suspiciously.

"I'm here to see Axel." I told him plainly.

"Axel!" the man yelled. "There's someone here for you."

I could hear and see Axel rush down the stairs, once he noticed me he spoke. "Yeah. that's my friend dad. We'll be upstairs."

After walking in and taking off my shoes, I made my way upstairs to Axel's room where Nick also was. Once all four of us were inside, I closed the door and performed a spell around the room, to prevent Axel's father from eavesdropping.

"Who's he?" Nick asked, sitting by Axel's desk.

"Long story short," I started, "I fell and landed by their house, they took me in, I tried to Obliviate them but I couldn't with him. He's some obsessed witchcraft and wizardry kid who's done a shit-tonne of research."

Kieran looked at Axel and Nick apprehensively. "Are you wizards?"

"No." Nick said plainly.

"Yes." said Axel.

"Anyways," I continued, "I need to know what to do with him. Because I can't just kill him-"

All three boys widened their eyes.

"I'm joking," I reassured them, "he might be useful anyways."

Axel and Nick both looked at each other before looking back at me.

"How much does he know?" Nick asked.

"Just the basics, his sources are pretty outdated considering he tried to spray water on me to kill me." I replied.

"So what's your plan with him?" Nick asked me.

I shrugged. "That's why I'm here. I thought maybe you guys could help me."

"Well what can he do? He's not a wizard, he's practically useless," Axel said before looking at Nick, "no offence Nick."

"None taken."

"Why'd you keep him alive anyways?" Axel asked me curiously. "You killed his whole family but spared him. Come to think of it, that's a similar situation to what you did with Kieran. You cast a Memory Charm on his whole family but spared him-"

"-I couldn't put a memory charm on him." I interjected.

"Did you spare them because you liked them?"

"I have a girlfriend." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Had," Axel corrected with a smirk, "Nick's with her now."

Rage rushed through me but I supressed my urge to seriously harm Axel. "What makes you think I'm not seeing someone else?"

Axel sighed. "Touche."

I then turned to Kieran who was standing timidly by the door. "Get your stuff out and put it on Axel's desk, you'll stay here for a while."

"Hey!" Axel protested. "This is my house. You can't turn it into some Muggle safe house!"

"Tough." I replied, glaring at Axel. "I'm doing it and you're going to have to deal with it."

Axel looked at me and rolled his eyes.

"Can we get back on topic with what we're doing with Kieran." Nick told us.

"I can help you guys," Kieran spoke up, "I'm really smart, I can help you guys find information."

Nick looked at me and raised an eyebrow.

"Maybe." I said plainly.

There was a silence that filled the room as the four of us all looked at each other, Nick was the one who broke the silence.

"I have to leave soon, " Nick told us, "I have to get back to the Burrow."

"What's happening?" I asked him curiously. "Why do you have to go back?"

"There's a wedding happening." Nick told us.

"Bill and Fleur..." I muttered.

An idea sprung into my mind as I paced around the room.

"Well lads," I told the three other boys, "who wants to go to a wedding?"

"I mean, I want to," Axel said, "but don't they all hate your guts?"

"We'll find a way." I told them.

I then turned to Kieran. "You can come with, but the second you piss me off I'm ripping that ring off you and taking your memories."

Kieran cowered slightly and I smirked. I had decided that maybe Kieran wouldn't be the worst company, he seemed intellectual and his dedication and curiosity towards the wizarding world could be quite useful in the future.

Later that day, Axel took us into town and we went shopping for wedding-appropriate attire for us to arrive to Bill and Fleur's wedding.

"How am I supposed to get in?" Kieran asked. "I'm a...what did you call it-?"

"-Muggle." Nick told him. "You're a Muggle."

"I think there'll be too many people for them to notice a few uninvited guests." I told the other boys.

Seeking refuge in the Muggle world was quite refreshing. It was a nice switch-up from the Malfoy Manor and I felt more at peace with myself. However, whenever I was in cloes proximity to other Death Eaters they always managed to bring out the worst in me.

When surrounded by normal people like Nick, Axel and Kieran, I felt more like Y/N and less like F/N. The four of us were cracking jokes and laughing at each other like we were all lifelong friends. Kieran, who was initially scared and timid, became confident around us and started talking a lot more. It seemed like he could get along well with Axel and Nick.

Truth be told, I spared Nick and I took in Kieran because I thought that they would stick by me and be my friend. I knew that I hadn't made the best first impression with them but part of me longed to have friends again. There was an emptiness in me that I couldn't seem to fill and I felt more alone than ever.

I had lost almost everyone and I just longed for a fresh start.

"Hey!" Axel called out from across the room. "Stop staring at yourself Y/N!"

I chuckled and adjusted the bowtie I was wearing before admiring how I looked in this suit that I was trying on.

I walked over to the three other boys who were all laughing at how formal all of them looked. The four of us were all dressed in our suits, looking ready for our wedding. We all stood in front of a large mirror and laughed at ourselves.

Axel put his arms around all our shoulders, I was on his left whilst Kieran and Nick were on his right. He smiled and looked into the mirror.

"Look at us," he laughed, "ready to gate-crash a wedding."

"Technically, I was invited." Nick laughed.

Kieran rolled his eyes. "Whatever Nick."

"Well, don't we clean up well lads." Axel said and the three of us nodded.

I looked at my reflection in the mirror and smiled as the three other boys laughed and smiled along with me.

And I swear, even if it was just for a moment.

I felt complete again.
