02. The Unexpected

"What are you doing this evening, Liam ?" Joan asked, though he knew the answer.

" I have got a date with..." Liam replied but was cut off by Joan.

" With Olivia ?" he asked, remembering the time when he saw both of them together in the park.

" Oh no, not she " Liam replied, not showing a sign of regret. " I broke up with her, two weeks back."

" Why ?" Joan asked, shocked. She was an easy going girl, but he couldn't be sure with Liam. He did anything and everything according to his mood. That was one of the many reasons he hanged around with him. He never spent a single moment repenting his decisions.

" She didn't know anything about War Zone," he grumbled. Joan considered it for a moment.

" Then what about that girl, er..., What was her name you were hanging out with, last week ?" he  asked.

" Jessica ? No, that is last week's story. Dude, come to the present, will you ?" he replied, annoyed.

" Okay, what was wrong with her ?" Joan asked, his mind lit with hundred other stupid reasons.

" You are not going to like this." Liam told. He looked at Joan who was still waiting for an answer. "Well, she was too good at War Zone."

" Right " he replied. After a moment, he said " that is the most absurd conversation I have ever had in my life. You broke the trust of two girls because one didn't like your stupid game and the other was better at it than you. Would you break up with one if your dog barks at her ?"

" Obviously, " Liam said, without thinking. Joan stared at him, his face horror-struck, because he had always thought Liam as someone who was playful in his words and actions, but never as someone who played with other's feelings.

" Look Liam, this is not correct " Joan said, though he knew exactly what his reaction would be.

" I know, Joan, I know," he spoke faster, "why are everyone so interested in giving me pep talks! Come on, this is my age to explore. Both them and me know it wasn't something serious. " Looking at Joan's still unconvinced face, he told, " you look handsome, it is quite a wonder that you are not giving me love advices yet."

That was unexpected and made Joan shut his mouth. He had never had any attraction  towards anyone, leave alone a girl. They walked through another ten minutes silently.

" Where are you going then ?" Liam asked.

" I have an appointment with little Noah, today " Joan said, regretting his decision already if he should have said a straight no.

"  He is not going to leave without making you a celebrity, will he ?" Liam asked sincerely, trying to keep a straight face. " Anyways, see you in the hostel later."

" Oh, I forgot. I am going to stay with my dad in the weekend." Joan said.

" Alright, see ya on Monday then." Liam told aloud, turned around and muttered, " Don't understand why you came to the boarding school when you have a rich father at home though."

Joan walked to the Ambrosia cafe, sat in the corner most table, thinking about getting himself a girlfriend, because he had heard that girls were a lot more trouble than any man could ask for and was waiting impatiently for the self-claimed interview to get over with it fast.

                                                                           * * * * *

Clara  hurried over her car, stumbling twice on her way. Her brother, very conveniently, had taken into becoming ill that very fine day, her car got repaired and there was a whole crowd of people waiting for her arrival. It was supposed to be the big day, the day of her drama, the same usual one ' Romeo and Juliet '. If she was not gonna go on time, she would necessarily be changed from her post, no matter if the Juliet looked more like a ugly duck than a protagonist. Well, she had to hurry, give a man sitting comfortably in a cafe a parcel, and then hurry over to the drama club. She was sure, a big scene was waiting for her in the school.

Reaching the cafe and looking at her watch, she smiled and thought 'Thank the heavens,' I am still on time. With long steps, she walked into the shop, searching for the person with a white jacket and jeans. 'Oh, let them be on time or the sky is going to fall here, literally,' she thought. She looked around and she saw a man. All she had to do was to hand it over to a man with a blue jacket on. She went towards him and tapped his shoulder.

The moment he turned, Clara knew she became breathless. A million thoughts surged into her mind, starting from how she looked till how much he saw in her. She noticed those arched eyebrows, his perfectly shaped jawline, his lips that were so attracting and finally his eyes. That one moment, all those thoughts disappeared. His eyes were blue. She stared at them for a second and then two, three, 'Oh ! what would I not do to look at them for a life-time,' Clara thought, her mind still totally blank and not aware that the boy was considering her as a a girl who has escaped from an asylum.

She suddenly understood what people told about love. It was not something that could be controlled. She wanted to express it aloud. But her little mind was till so engrossed with his stunning face that she could only think 'How princely he is !'

For those  who think this is a teenage romance story, this is a disclaimer : It definitely is not just it. Please be patient, the best is yet to come !
