I stared out the car window. The rain poured and the thunder boomed. I turned my attention away from the storm and looked at the little tv in the car. Maggie, the youngest in the family, was watching one of her little childish television shows again along with my little brother Jonah, while Mom sat in the front steering the car and keeping us on the road.

I threw my head back on the headrest and let out a small sigh. Carmen had to take yet another visit to the hospital for a check up. I don't really understand why she has to go the hospital for a check up while the rest of us go to Dr. Tate's office at the Holefurn's doctor office. But Carmen always had to get these check ups at the hospital. Mom would be the only one going in with her when she went for her check ups.

It was sort of like a secret meeting, in a hospital.  Kinda reminded me of the meeting in Lord of the Rings. 

"Owen." Carmen said from the front passenger seats, turning to look at me.

I looked at her and noticed the car had been parked in the parking lot of the Instacare Hospital. The rain still fell onto the earth but it had slowed down to a heavy shower. the lightning and thunder still filled the sky but it was not as often as before. Carmen pulled out her umbrella with her shaking hand, her hands always shook when she went to her appointments and I still don't understand why. Mom turned to look at me and I knew what she was bound to say.

"Yea mum, I will stay in the car and watch over my siblings." I smiled reassuringly at my mother and 19 year old sister.

Carmen smiled, "Thanks little brother. Well... my soon to be 15 year old brother." She chuckled.

Mom smiled and kissed my forehead. "Dad will be here in a bit. He is coming up and I'm going to be up here with Carmen for the rest of the visit." she spoke in her calm and soothing voice.

I nodded, and mom exited the car walking over to the other side of the car to Carmen's side and opened her door. She grabbed the umbrella and opened it, grabbing Carmen's hand and helping her up. Mom treated her with so much care and manner yet she treated us like any other mom would.

I sigh as I watch them walk inside, and see a figure walking up to them. I then realize it was Trenton as I see him kiss my sister on the cheek and help her inside. I leaned back in my seat in confusion and annoyance. 'Why is she treated like a goddess when we're treated like... normal children? It doesn't make sense!' I thought, rubbing my templates. I shook off the multiple questions and looked at Maggie who was laughing joyfully because of a hand puppet Jonah had with him and was using to play with her. I smiled remembering that was Carmen and I except instead of me doing the hand puppets, Carmen would do them and put on a show for me.

Oh well, now for a long wait for my dad to reach the hospital. And listening to Maggie's high pitched screams. Oh boy.. what an adventure.
