12. Need for Speed

'This.' He twisted his fingers that the photograph rotated and faced Blair, taking away her breath and the colours from her face.

Before Blair could muster up any sensible answer, she jumped as a sudden alarm wailed in the building and only words of panic she could understand coming out of the room were,

'Run!'

————

Before Blair could process what happened, Adrien ran towards her and covered her with his coat. Holding Blair's hand, he dragged her out of the pool area.

Adrien scanned his finger on a finger scanner outside of the door of the library. It opened and Adrien took Blair in.

'What is happening?'

'Something not good.' Adrien answered as he threw a few books on the floor, revealing another finger scanner behind them.

After scanning, the the bookshelf parted in half. Blair, astonished, stayed rooted to the spot. 'Come on.' Adrien took her hand again and pulled her in the carpeted room.

Adrien pressed a button for B2 and the door closes, revealing to Blair that she was standing in an elevator with a door of a bookshelf in a library in her swimsuit.

Great.

With a ding, the door parted and Adrien, in a hurry walked out. Blair followed him suit to know she was in a basement filled with cars. 'Can you tell me what is happening?'

Adrien opened a box stuck on a pillar and grabbed a key. 'Someone is here to take you.'

Blair froze. Take me? 'Are you going to hand me over?'

'If i would've, you won't be standing with me right now.'

As Adrien pressed a button on his remote, a black car's lights came into life. Looking at the car, Blair gasped. 'Is it a Ferrari LaFerrari?'

Adrien moved towards the car and Blair sat in, drooling on the interior. 'You are interested in cars?' He turned it on and revved it.

'Kinda.'

'Put on your seatbelt then.'

'Huh?' Before Blair could know, her head hit hard on the headrest as Adrien raced the car and drove it out of the basement.

As expected, cars were waiting for Adrien to come out and when he did, all those cars followed him. Blair instantly put on her seatbelt, though with difficulty because of Adrien's coat. Not to mention, it smelled so nice.

To Blair, it felt as if she was in a fast train. All the buildings blurred into themselves and all her eyes could see were the lights that twinkled in the darkest hour of the night. 'Can you slow down a bit?'

'Look behind you and tell me again if I should slow down.' Blair shrieked as Adrien took a sharp turn and her head would've hit the door only if she didn't wear the seatbelt.

With the engine, Blair's heart thumped. She looked behind her and saw four cars chasing them. She ducked immediately as they fired. 'How are we going to chase them out?' She yelled.

'Watch.' Just as Adrien said, he stopped the car.

The cars behind pulled the break too except for one that skidded along, coming to an halt right next to Adrien's. A small smile drew on Adrien's face.

Blair furrowed, trying to understand what is to happen and when it did, Blair jumped on her seat and shrieked. A truck, coming for the front, crushed the car next of Adrien's.

Adrien, completely ignoring it, raced his car once again and Blair's head crashed onto the headrest again. 'Duck.' She did as a bullet passed through her head and cut Blair's hair, saving Adrien with his quick dodge.

Adrien looked into the rear view mirror. 'Hold this for me.'

Blair held the steering wheel as Adrien bent back and took two guns out. Blair gasped. 'How am I supposed to drive?'

'Like you did when you snuck out,' With this, Adrien ducked before he slid his window down, 'just don't kill me.' He got out of the window.

Blair instantly unclasped her seatbelt, afraid she might crash. She gulped as she shifted to the driver's seat as quickly as she could. Her hands shook when she held the steering wheel.

Adrien, on the other hand, shot down the tires of the two cars along with their drivers as a result, they both crashed into each other, leaving only one.

Blair, with shaky hands, tried to keep driving with the speed. She could not help but look at the speedometer. 120 km/h.

130 km/h.

140 km/h.

She couldn't go any further. It was too much for her. 'Take the next left!' Blair gasped again as Adrien appeared from the passenger's window.

'How do you ...?'

'Doesn't matter. Hurry!' Adrien ducked down as another bullet came through and shattered the glass. He, grabbing her arm, ducked her again when one more bullet intruded.

As directed, Blair took the next left. She shut her eyes close as Adrien shot the last driver and the car fell in the ditch. Adrien sighed as he sat straight in his seat and Blair lowered her speed, heaving a sigh of relief too.

'Left and then third right. Adrien kept on directing her until they reached on an airport, right in front of what seemed a private jet to Blair.

'Are we ...?' She seemed lost for words.

'Yeah, get out.' Adrien got out of the car and walked towards the driver's seat. Blair got out too and shivered under the cold weather of Turf Fields. 'Are you kidding me?'

'What?' Blair's heartbeat quickened as Adrien leant in the car, being too close to her, and took his coat out. He draped it over her.

Blair tucked her both arms into the armholes and buttoned it up. 'Sir, we were waiting.' A man in his late forties and a suit, came to Adrien.

Adrien corrected his shirt and gestured Blair to walk in front of him. Blair fumbled with the buttons.

At this time, she wished she never went for the swim. Although Adrien's coat went down to her thighs, she felt extremely uncomfortable wearing just her jumpsuit underneath and walking in front of all these men.

Ignoring the lump in her throat, she walked. She flinched as soon as a piece of glass stung under her foot. 'Ah,' she lifted her foot up and noticed few pieces of glass along with blood. As she tried to remove the pieces of glass, she tumbled and was to fall but someone held her still.

She looked back and saw a cold face of Adrien Mackenzie. 'Seriously?' He arched his eyebrow.

'What? I didn't do it on purpose.' She stood up straight but winced in pain. Taking a deep breath, she tried to walk with her full foot and her half foot but only in vain.

She heard Adrien sighing and then, she was in the air. 'Put me down.' Adrien held her in bridal style and climbed up the stairs of the jet. 'Put me down.' Blair argued again.

Adrien looked down at Blair, his cold eyes meeting hers and then to her surprise, threw her on the seat. 'Ow!'

'Buckle up,' Adrien said, 'we are leaving for London.'
