CHAPTER 27
Dax's POV
The first thing I did was rush to the local police station to file a missing report.
The cops told me to be brave and wait patiently until they had a lead.
But I couldn't wait, so I rushed back to the place where I last saw her.
I walked towards the streets which had lesser crowd than a few hours ago when we were here and noticed that there were surveillance cameras.
I remembered that a friend of mine was a cop and I could use all the help right now.
I scrolled through my contacts as my finger hovered over his name.
Matthew Perez.
I clicked on his contact and called him.
He answered after four rings.
"Daxton, my brother! How are you?", he spoke with excitement.
"Hey Matt, I'm not doing too fine. How about you?", I spoke as I walked with slumped shoulders towards the side walk.
"I'm great. What's wrong? How can I help?", he asked with concern in his voice.
This was the best thing about Matt. He was always up for helping whenever he could.
"My wife, she's missing", I spoke as I felt my anxiety kicking in.
"I'm sorry, but please elaborate".
And so, I narrated the entire incident about how a man dashed me, her disappearance and my encounter with the cops at the police station.
"Alright, I'll ask my team to look into it right now", he spoke.
"Can you get into the surveillance cameras? I just noticed about three of them at the start of the street", I blurted out.
There was a brief silence.
"Of course, anything for my brother", he lightly chuckled. "I'll call you as soon as I get some information. Don't worry".
I hung up and shoved my phone in my pocket.
Someone placed their hand on my shoulder and I turned around to see a very surprised Alex.
He threw himself and wrapped his arms around me.
"I'm so sorry brother. I can't believe what happened", he spoke.
This was very unlikely Alex, but I appreciated what he did to make me feel better.
"We'll find her. We will", he said as he rubbed my back.
"It's all because of me", I whispered as tears formed in my eyes. "If I wouldn't let her go alone, she wouldn't go missing".
"No, no. It's not your fault. Everything's going to be okay", Alex continued.
I didn't speak because I knew my voice would crack and I didn't want to sound weak in front of my baby brother.
But I was weak because my strength was gone.
I was weak without my Jade.
"Dax, you had a cop friend, right? Max? Matt? What was his name?", Alex asked after a few moments of silence amidst the light sounds of traffic around us.
"I already called him, he's on it", I said.
"We will find her, Dax. We will find Jade and everything will be alright", he said as he continued to rub my back.
And I wanted to believe him, but something just didn't feel right.
Jade's POV
I felt my head hurt real bad as I struggled to open my heavy eyelids.
With much efforts, I managed to open my eyes only to be surrounded by darkness.
There was a faint light that made its way in.
I tried to move forward, but couldn't.
I then realised that my hands were bound by a rope which restricted my movements.
Soon, I realised that my mouth was taped and my body was bound to what felt like a wooden chair.
The room clearly wasn't mine and that's when I began panicking.
I tried to call out to Dax, but muffled voices came out as an effect of the tape.
I started trashing around and tried to move myself out of my current scenario.
That's when the memories began to kick in.
I was walking past the crowded street to fetch Dax and I some bottles of water as a man stood right in front of me.
"Excuse me", I said and tried to walk around him, but all he did was block my way again.
I tried to walk past him, but he held my hand and began dragging me.
Before I even had the chance of screaming for help, another man placed a piece of cloth over my face as the previous one swung me over his shoulders.
The last thing I remember before my eyes could shut was that I was being taken away from my Dax.
A sudden sound put me out of my thoughts.
I squinted as I tried to be aware of what was happening around me.
There was another thud and the sound of hinges creaking.
I suppose a door behind my chair opened because I saw a flicker of light for a brief second before it disappeared again.
Loud footsteps echoed in the silent room, or what I assumed was a room as the footsteps got closer.
I could feel a presence around me.
"Looks like you're awake, kitten", a voice said from behind me and I froze.
The person walked and stood in front of me.
Even through the darkness, I could still make out the person's silhouette.
The person put their face in front of mine and that's when I widened my eyes.
"It's been so long", the person hummed, brining back shock and a thousand memories.

A/N:
Okay, so she's really kidnapped and her kidnapper is 'really' creepy.
Don't hate me.
