CHAPTER 17
Daxton's POV
"This is Kane Winchester, our lawyer", dad said to Mr Okoye as he sat down on the couch in the study.
Jade and her parents arrived at our residence a while ago because we had to re sign the newly created deal.
My mum wanted to flaunt a new piece of her jewellery and that's precisely why she didn't let Mrs Okoye join us in the study.
Dad continued introducing Kane to Mr Okoye as he sat behind his desk looking like a dean of a law school who was introducing his best student to an officer from the education department.
Jade and I awkwardly stood behind her dad and Kane as the introduction never ended.
"This is one boring introduction", I whispered at Jade and she bit her lip in attempt to hide her beautiful smile.
"It's alright, seems like Mr Kane and you'll know each other for a really long time", she whispered back and I nodded.
And finally dad stopped talking about Kane.
"It's lovely to meet you, Mr Okoye", Kane said as he extended his hand towards Mr Okoye.
"Likewise", he replied as he shook his hand.
"This is Jade, my fiancée", I said, motioning towards her.
"Lovely meeting you, dear. I now realise why Dax is head over heels for you. You're absolutely gorgeous", he said as he shook her hand, making my eyes go wide.
Jade glanced at me and nervously laughed.
"Nice meeting you, Mr Kane", she said as she smiled.
"So, let's get down to business", Kane spoke in his serious tone.
"This", he said handing the file to Mr Okoye, "is the new deal which I managed to prepare yesterday. The Langfords seem to have no problem with it and I don't think you'll would have any either because the deal was altered as per Jade's wishes. But if there's a problem, I'm here to help".
Mr Okoye skimmed through the pages of the deal as the silence in the study got thicker with every passing minute.
He cleared his throat once he was done reading and handed it over to Jade.
Jade took the file in her hands and looked at me.
"Thanks", she whispered as she randomly flicked through the pages of the file.
After about a minute she spoke, "This is perfect, Mr Kane".
"I'm glad it is. So, let's make this official by you'll signing on it", Kane said.
Dad and Mr Okoye signed before Jade and I did.
"It's official. Congratulations Mr Langford and Mr Okoye", Kane spoke as he shut the file, "and of course, congratulations to the kids".
"Thanks", Jade mumbled.
All of a sudden, dad popped open a bottle of champagne.
"Woah, Jake. I could have died of a heart attack right now", Mr Okoye spoke with wide eyes making us all laugh lightly.
"Well, I'm sorry. It's just that I wouldn't miss popping champagne on an auspicious occasion. Not especially when our business is going to be carried forward making our friendship turn into family", dad spoke with a proud smile on his face.
.
.
.
After chatting for an hour, it was time for lunch.
I ushered Jade towards the dining area as I placed my palm on the small of her back.
Alex seemed to be acting normal around Jade and it was a good sight.
Thank goodness he wasn't acting funny around her anymore.
We sat down on our twelve seater dining table as the butlers served us the varieties of dishes prepared.
"So remember what Kane said", dad spoke, making all of us focus on him.
"We put it out that you two kids have been in love for a while and are finally ready to settle down. Your engagement is a week from now and your wedding is two weeks after that", he continued as we nodded.
"Also, the press will be present. So make sure you'll manage to convince them that you'll are actually in love", he said looking at Jade and me.
"And, only Kane and us must know the truth about the deal. To the rest of the world it should seem like we're extending our business because of our families joining and not the other way around. Is that clear?", he raised his voice towards the end and everyone uttered a response in agreement.
He nodded and was soon making conversation meaning the parents about the preparations for our engagement.
"Thanks Dax, it really means so much", Jade placed her hand on my thigh.
"What for?", I questioned as I took her hand in mine.
"For altering the deal. For actually talking to the lawyer and extending the time period", she spoke as she squeezed my palm.
"Hey, that's alright. I figured that you couldn't just marry some random guy and that you needed time, so that's why I did it".
"Yeah, I can't believe we're getting engaged next week", she said with a smile which made me happy.
Someone cleared their throat and I turned around to look at Alex sat in front of me, chewing on his meat, looking at Jade and me with the most boring expression on his face.
I rolled my eyes and Jade giggled.
"So, how have you been, Alex?", Jade asked as she took a bite of the spaghetti.
"I'm doing great, now that you're gonna be my sis in law", he spoke with sarcasm dripping down his words.
I glanced at our parents who didn't seem to notice Alex's remarks and were laughing at something that dad was saying.
"Oh, that's nice", Jade said awkwardly.
"Aw, my little brother has one less girl to flirt with because she's going to be his sis in law now", I smirked and Alex just rolled his eyes.
Jade just smiled as she continued eating her spaghetti.
Alex quickly attended to his phone as it dinged.
"Muffin", I spoke lowly and she looked at me.
"Blueberry", she matched my tone.
"Are you really happy with all of this? Do you really want to marry me? I wouldn't mind if you-"
"I really do want to marry you, blueberry. I really like you, okay? Honestly, I don't know about the idea of us getting married. But of you're willing to work this out, then I'm going to be putting in my best efforts to make it work too", she interrupted me.
"Alright, if you're ever not happy with me then you should tell me, okay?", I spoke, tracing the veins on the back of her palm.
"You make me happy, Dax. Maybe that's one of the reasons why I even agreed to marry a complete stranger", she said with a smile on her face and I swear, I wanted to kiss her right then.
And so I did.
I inched forward and kissed her lips.
Initially she didn't move, but then eventually she kissed me back.
Her soft lips felt just right against my own.
"Well, get a room you two", Alex groaned, making us pull away instantly.
The embarrassment followed because our parents just watched us make out right in front of them.
"Look at them, so in love already", mum said as she clapped her hands together and looked at us in awe.
"Mum", I widened my eyes, making our parents laugh.
Jade's hand was still in mine.
I wanted to let go of her hand, but then decided against it because she had finished eating all of her spaghetti.
"Some more spaghetti?", I asked and, licking my lips.
"No, thanks. I'm good", she said as she bit her lower lip in order to hide another smile.
I gently moved her lower lip from under her teeth, "Don't bite your lip".
"Why?", she questioned and bit her lower lip again, this time on purpose.
"Because it drives me crazy", I spoke as I inched forward and slowly moved her lip out from under the teeth, again.
"Um, alright", she said as she looked deeper into my eyes, our faces were just inches apart.
Before I even realised it, Jade covered the gap between our faces and kissed me.
The kiss was slow and so romantic that I wanted time to literally freeze this moment forever.
But alas, she pulled away and lightly pecked my lips.
"That was literally the best first kiss ever", she beamed at me.
"This was your first kiss?", I yelled in utter shock, making it obvious to everyone around us.
Jade's eyes widened and I wanted to literally smack myself.
"We didn't hear you, son", Mr Okoye said and everyone roared in laughter.
Jade awkwardly joined in and then I did too.
After the laughter died down, Jade whispered in my left ear, "It wasn't my first kiss. It was my first kiss with you".
I was a little saddened because I wasn't her first kiss, but I'd do everything to be her last first kiss.
"I'll be your last first kiss", I said and she beamed at me.
"That I'd like", she replied as she quickly pecked my lips.

A/N:
OMG, Last First Kiss. The Directioner in me is crying right now because she misses
One Direction too damn much.
Sorry for the reference even if it didn't fit it, but I don't regret it even one bit because it's a
One Direction song.
(This A/N probably doesn't even make sense)
Lots Of Love:
