CHAPTER 11

Daxton's POV

I smiled as I saw Jade walking towards me.

She looked so beautiful in a black and green dress which came down to her knees.

This girl always dressed so modestly.

Her brown eyes lit up as soon as they met my blue ones, but soon they showed another emotion.

Uncertainty?

Of course, she was going to marry me even though she doesn't know anything about me.

Who wouldn't be uncertain?

"Hey", she said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Hey", I said as I pulled her towards me in a warm embrace.

I saw her cheeks turn pink when we pulled away, making me smile to myself.

"Hi", Alex said simply and she smiled at him.

"Hey Alex".

He half smiled and looked away.

Why was Alex acting stupid ever since the day we talked about the deal?

"Since you'll haven't really seen our home, let's give you'll a tour", my mom said to her parents who smiled.

"Sure", Jade's mom replied with a smile on her face.

Jade was a mini version of her mother. Their brown straight hair and lean figures matched, and also their beautiful smiles.

Jade and her father had the same eye colour which looked mesmerising; deep brown.

"Come on", my dad said as he patted Mr Okoye's back and walked ahead with them.

My mom walked upstairs with all of us following behind her and I had to roll my eyes.

This felt like some guide showing us around a museum.

Jade and I were the last to follow with Alex huffing in front of us and he dragged himself upstairs.

I placed my hand on the small of Jade's back and she squealed at the connection of our skin.

"Sorry", I mumbled as I let my hand drop to my side.

Wrong move, Dax.

"That's okay", she whispered back.

Alex glanced at us before walking towards the study where my mom had led us to.

"This one right here is the study", my mom said as the parents walked inside while Jade looked hesitantly before stepping in.

"Jade, I know this is kind of crazy and can clearly see that you're not interested in this stupid tour thing. So, can we talk somewhere?", I asked, hoping her answer would be positive.

She looked at me with hope in her eyes and smiled, " Yes, please. I've been wanting to talk to you".

I nodded and motioned for her to follow me as we ditched the tour of our residence, leaving Alex to wonder why we decided to abandon him with the parents.

I lead her towards my room and inhaled deeply before swinging the door open.

"After you", I said as I motioned for her to walk inside my room before me.

I shut the door once we were in and looked at Jade.

She had an amused look on her face as she took in the details of my room.

I glanced at it. There wasn't anything amusing, because I didn't like fancy stuff.

There was a king sized rose wood bed with a matching bed side table. One side of the wall was covered with a huge shelf which had plenty of books. The other wall had a full length window which overlooked the backyard and our pool. There was a couch and a coffee table in front of the full length window. The door towards my bathroom was shut. And of course, a door to my walk in closet.

I cleared my throat awkwardly and she looked at me with wide eyes.

"I'm sorry. Did you say something?", she asked.

She looked like a deer caught in headlights.

I chuckled lightly.

"No, I didn't say anything. Although, I should", I said and she nodded.

"Welcome to my room", I said, sounding like a tour guide and mentally face palmed myself.

Jade just smiled as she shifted her weight from one foot to another.

"Although, it will be our room soon enough", I said and she stiffened.

I glanced at her and saw her blushing and heavens, she looked like a cute little kid.

"Please sit", I said as I motioned towards the couch.

We walked in silence and were soon sat on the black leather couch facing each other.

"I kind of need to talk to you", she said nervously.

"Go on, tell me", I tried to sound calm.

"I don't really know how to say this, but...", she trailed off and she looked at the floor.

Was she going to call off this wedding? Was she here to tell me that she has a boyfriend? Was she going to tell me that she didn't like me? Was she-

"Daxton?", a soft voice said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

This is the first time someone's said my name so nicely.

The way she lightly hummed my name sounded so beautiful coming from her, as if it added a whole new meaning to my name.

"Hmm?", I hummed back as I looked deeper into those brown eyes.

"Are you really interested in this wedding?", she asked and I blinked.

"Huh?", I replied dumbly and I swear I saw that tiny little smile that she attempted to hide.

"My dad said that you were the one who proposed the idea of me marrying you, is that true?", she asked and I nodded.

I figured that my dad probably told her dad.

"Why?", she asked

I furrowed my eyebrows.

"I mean, why me? Why do you want to marry me?", she added instantly, as if her words would hurt me.

I looked at her and saw the nervousness on her face.

"Because...", I trailed off, not knowing how to tell her.

"It's alright. Just tell me", she said as she placed her hand on my arm, a concerned look on her face.

I took in a deep breath, "Because my mom wants me to get married. I mean, she's after me to find myself a girl and marry her and all that madness, but... I don't really have a girl", I said as I shrugged my shoulders, looking at the floor, unable to meet her gaze.

I was afraid to look at her, afraid that she would think that I was marrying her just because my mom wanted me to.

There was silence, thick silence which made me hear our parents laughing lightly from down the corridor.

"Don't marry me because your mom wants you to be married", she said, breaking the silence.

I glanced at her and she had a serious look on her face.

"Daxton, marriage means a lot to me. It's a big decision where you decide to spend your life with one person and I don't want you to marry me because it isn't even your decision", she whispered and I think she was hurt by my words.

"No, you're getting me wrong. Please hear me out-", I was interrupted by her.

"I would want to be in a marriage where there is love. I don't want to be in a forced marriage", she said raising her hand for me to stop.

"Jade you need to listen to me", I raised my voice and she looked taken aback.

"Please, I'm sorry. You've taken my words in a wrong way. That's not what I meant", I said as my eyes searched for hers.

"Fine. Explain", she huffed, crossing her arms on her chest.

"Look, there's a reason why I wanted to marry only you", I said as I looked right into her eyes.

"Other girls out there, they don't want me for what I am. They want me for who I am", I said as I lowered my gaze.

"They don't want me because of the guy that I am. They just want me because of my money or my looks", I shrugged, my gaze still lowered.

"I don't want that. I want someone who will love me. Someone who will love me because of the person I am and not because I belong to a wealthy family", I continued when Jade didn't say anything.

"And I believe that someone can be you", I said and I looked into her sparkling brown orbs.

A/N:

Ooh, things are getting romantic in here with Dax being so very dreamy.

Since this chapter is really long, I had to split it into three parts. The next ones are now available to you.

I decided to update three chapters in a row 'cause why not?

Also, I just thought that Sean O'Pry would fit well as Dax, 'cause boy he is so hot!

Lots Of Love
