Chapter Twelve
The most out-there thing I'm saying is, 'Don't have babies. Don't get married and have kids. Have a larger life than that.
-Roseanne Barr
Waking up is the hardest part of the day for me, I think that's why I avoid it so much. Today when I woke up it was even worse though, because I stretched and smacked my head into the headboard, which woke up Teddy.
"Wakey wakey," He tiredly mumbled, putting a hand gently on the side of my face. "Big mistakey."
That made me laugh.
After getting ready for the day, we just climbed back in bed and Teddy fell back asleep.
The familiarity of it all is like a rope around my heart, pulling us tighter together. I can feel us becoming closer.
Two hours later and here I am- -pathetically still in bed- -just writing about the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture and the fucking weird way they burned their cities down, when Teddy decides to climb into my lap.
I accept this, dropping my pen and plopping my papers onto my nightstand, arms wrapping around him.
"Are you okay, Theo?" Asking this, I gently kiss his shoulder and run one hand through his hair.
He hums in reply, pulling away to face me. "Perfectly fine."
"Then...?"
Grinning, he loops his arms around my neck and leans into my chest, lips pressing into my own. My hands instantly clutch onto his sides, keeping him pressed to me as I kiss him back.
My body flames up, heat pulsing through my veins as he kisses me harder.
Swiping my tongue on his bottom lip, asking for permission, and with a small groan his gives it.
His hands skim my chest, stopping at the end of my shirt where I help him tug it over my head. I nearly scoff as he stops kissing me just to check me out, causing me to cup the back of his neck and start kissing down his jaw.
Soft gasps escape him and he clutches to my back.
I almost don't mind the way his fingers dig into me until he presses wrong over a scar, making me hiss in pain and pull away from him.
"Shit," Kissing him gently, I feel the odd need to apologize. "I'm sorry."
"For what?" Teddy breathily replies.
"For all this," I say. "The scars and my illness affecting us when we're... together."
"Never apologize for these." My boyfriend says sternly, kissing over a scar on my shoulder. "You are handsome and kind, and even though I'm the one that accidentally hurt you, you're the one that apologized."
Humming in reply, thanking him for compliment all while agreeing with his observation, I move one hand up to the back of his head and pull Teddy down for a kiss.
"Just because... you're a good kisser," Teddy gasps out between our lips. "Doesn't mean this conversation... is over."
"Oh yeah?" I pull away, a lazy smirk tugging at my lips as I see his flushed cheeks. "It seems pretty finished to me."
It was safe to say that we spent a few more hours in bed, but afterwards we did manage to actually get out of bed and working on the day -well, late afternoon.
Seeing Teddy go to my closet and pull out his own clothing sent my mind reeling.
I remember the first time he spent the night, how the adorable man next to me just brought a small bag like he was worried about taking up too much space.
Look at us now.
He spends more nights here than he doesn't, and even Chip sleeps here sometimes because of how Luke and Mikayla like their apartment to be so warm.
"Move in with me." I blurt. "I don't like you living in an cramped apartment with Kayla and the two dorks."
Teddy flushes, holding a shirt to his chest. "Seriously?"
Holding my breath, I nod.
"Yes, yes, please." Stumbling in a step, my boyfriend raises up to kiss me a few times, excited, making me laugh. "I'll accept that deal. Oh my god!" He squeals. "I have to go call Chip."
Adorable indeed.
Surprisingly, moving Teddy in proved to be easier than decorating the twin's room. It didn't surprise me that the five of us- -me, Teddy, Mikayla, Chip and Luke- -kept distracting one another however.
At the moment, Chip was wrapping one of his best friend's rainbow flags around himself like a cape and dashing from one wall to another.
"If gay was a fashion trend, you'd wear it well." I joke, making him raise a finger at me before dropping in what I assume is supposed to be a threatening fighting stance.
"Oh Atti," My boyfriend teasingly runs his fingers along my jaw -pulling my mind away from the actual topic entirely. "Gay is a fashion trend. You just haven't picked up on it."
Shrugging, not caring, I smile back at him and clasp his falling hand with my own. "I didn't have to spend any time in the closet."
"Oh that definitely explains it." Chip tells me, glancing me up and down in a way that makes Teddy's eyes playfully narrow.
"Shush."
"Anyway... we really need to get all this over with, but I keep getting distracted by all the small cuteness." I hold up one of the onesies I had already picked out. "See?"
"I love my Daddies... oh my goodness!" Teddy squeals, pulling me down for chaste kiss. "This is so cute! I can't wait for them to get here, they'll be so cute that the lost sleep and diaper changes will be worth it!"
I laugh, "You're so excited, it's adorable."
With another excited noise, Theodore dashes over to where Luke is standing between the cribs and starting the process to hang up their baby mobiles, grabbing the ladybug themed one from him and instantly dropping it.
Despite the fact he might have broke it, or potentially himself, I still find myself smiling at him.
"He's so dorky! I mean, there's absolutely nothing elegant about him." Kayla says to me, all of her features lighting up with a mischievous grin as she's able to talk about her best friend behind his back to me.
But it's about my Teddy and to his Kayla, so I don't care.
"And that's kinda great for you because well," She shrugs. "You seem like, perfect."
I'm what? Excuse me? I'm pretty sure she's confused me with someone else.
"And you look completely in control of your body when you walk, and those muscles, oh god you look like you could throw me. Anyway, you're also like invisible and silent, shy dude who turns into a confidant as fuck dude with Godly intimidation skills." When I'm scared? I mean -sure. "That's impressive. Kind of scary. Mostly hot. Anyway, I think you two will work together. But yeah, walk in front of him when going up stairs so when he falls you don't get taken down too."
From now on, I'll make it a point to always be a step or two behind Teddy when we go up staircases.
