Who does sing amidst the waves?
A trill and tremble that I remember from my dreams
Like a mother's lullaby, so tender,
That lies forgotten in the recesses of my memories.

I look outside the window at the sky
A sea laden with stars that blink in conspiracy
Beneath crashes the waves against the rocks
And I hear the song, the song that haunts my dreams

It beckons me to come closer and take a dip
Taste the salt and the brine of the sea
Drown myself in its ageless reverie
Till I know the secrets it keeps buried.

I weep for things I cannot see
For the tragedies that plague my world
Headless children and bereaved mothers
Things lost forever, consumed by time.

'Tis a eulogy for the lost
An apology for the fallen ones
'Tis a mother calling back her children
To rest against her bosom, safe and snug.

Mayhap I'll follow its rhythm and walk to the beach
Close my eyes and take the plunge
Let this melody purge me of this pain
I will sleep to it, content for once.
