Chapter 5: A Demon to All

[(A/N): Hey guys! This takes place before (Y/N) lost his arm and leg, so just keep that in mind. Anywho, DarkPrince out!]

[Years Before the Fall of Beacon, (Y/N)'s POV]

The broken and cracked landscape was barren. Crystals jutted from the ground randomly. This place was deserted for many years, or so the world thought. The land mass north of Vale had always been like this due to a large amount of Grimm that inhabit it. Summer and I had to fight our way through what felt like hundreds of Grimm just to find a somewhat clear path to our destination, the place a great evil resides. Summer, my wife, and I walked down a canyon like trail. Everything has been quiet for quite a bit, which was unnerving.

Summer: "How do you think Qrow is doing?"

Me: "I'm sure he's fine. You know how Qrow is, he hates sticking with the group because of his semblance but if something happens he'll come find us."

Summer suddenly held onto my hand. I looked over to see her looking ahead worriedly.

Summer: "(Y/N)... after this... let's retire fully... and spend every day with our girls please."

I sighed.

Me: "Alright Alright. Besides, once we're done here the world is gonna be a whole lot safer."

Summer: "Ozpin said just to get a location, we're not supposed to charge in there you know that."

Me: "Come on, we have a silver-eyed warrior and a first class brawler here. Plus a crow flying around somewhere."

Summer sighed and rested her head on my shoulder while still walking.

Summer: "I swear one of these days you're gonna get hurt because of that cockiness, mister."

I chuckled and kissed her forehead.

Me: "We can handle anything thrown at us, love. As a Team, and as husband and wife."

Summer blushed and smiled up at me. Suddenly there was the sound of falling rocks. I looked up to see a large boulder falling from the top of the canyon. I quickly pushed Summer forward then rolled out the way of the rock. I looked back to see our path completely cut off. I got into my fighting stance and scanned the area.

Me: "Summer, get ready. There's no way that was just a coincidence."

She nodded and held up her scythe. I suddenly heard the sound of buzzing. I looked up again to see a swarm of Lancers coming into the canyon from above.

Me: "Damn bugs, Summer stay close."

The first one into the canyon fired its stinger at me, I dodged to the left of the stinger and grabbed onto the tether. I pulled violently and got the Grimm in my striking distance the slammed my fist into its head, making it slam into the ground. I got ready for another one... but none were targeting me, they were all going for Summer. I used the canyon walls to jump upward, getting into range of the Lancer swarm. I landed on top of one of the Grimm and grabbed onto its wings, then planted my feet on its back. I ripped its wings off and jumped to another Grimm, spinning mid-air and kicking the bug into a wall. I landed next to Summer and glanced over at her.

Me: "Summer, I think it's time to use those special eyes of yours."

Summer: "(Y/N)... I-I can't really control it. If I do I'll be knocked out for at least an hour."

Me: "Dammit."

I cursed under my breath.

Me: "Alright... I hate these things, I can't really fight them very well."

Summer: "We'll figure something out, we always do."

Summer smiled at me quickly, then looked back to the Grimm. I chuckled.

Me: "God damn how did I get this lucky?"

We began fighting back the Grimm again. I was quickly growing tired due to the fact that I had to launch myself into the air just to get in range of the Lancers. As I landed once more I glanced over at Summer. The Grimm weren't letting up, she was blocking everything she could but they attacked in quick intervals, making it hard to block every attack they threw. Suddenly one Lancer split off from the swarm and circled behind Summer. It fired its stinger, aiming for her back. I lunged and pushed her out of the way of the attack, only for it to pierce my right hand all the way through. I yelled out in pain and closed my hand around the tether, then pulled in the Grimm quickly slamming it into the ground. The Grimm dispersed into black dust, clearing my wound. My aura began to flair and my vision began to grow a red tint, without my control I began to snarl.

Summer: "(Y/N)! Calm down, you can't let it take over!"

Hearing Summer's voice cleared the red tint in my eyes. I took a deep breath and refocused myself. Just as I calmed down a sharp pain went through the back of my left leg. I screamed as my leg gave out and I fell to a knee. I quickly looked to Summer and yelled.

Me: "Summer, use it now!"

She nodded as her eyes began to glow. I quickly covered my eyes as she used the power of the silver-eyed warriors. When I opened my eyes the Grimm were gone, my semblance had stopped, and Summer was unconscious. I got up the best I could and limped towards Summer.

Me: "Need to call Qrow... We need to get out of he-"

As I pulled out my scroll a bone-like spike went into my right hand, crushing my scroll and pinning my hand to the canyon wall. Before I could move, three more pierced my arm, one in my wrist, one in my forearm then one more in my upper bicep. I screamed out and looked up to see a Queen Lancer overlooking the canyon. I tried to rip the spikes out of my arm, but I couldn't get them to budge. The Queen Lancer didn't move, it didn't even throw any more spikes instead it waited. Suddenly a strange Grimm I had never seen before began floating down towards Summer and I. The creature looked a lot like a jellyfish, only with sharp points at the end of its tendrils. My aura once more spiked in response to the pain. My vision grew red and I started to try to rip the spikes out again to no avail.

Me: 'Stay calm. Gotta stay calm. Can't-lose control, have to focus, have to-'

The new Grimm began to go for Summer, and that's the last thing I saw before my semblance completely took over.

[Salem's POV]

I watched through the Seer with bored eyes. Some foolish humans decided to come here, no doubt Ozpin's doing. Only one of the two caught my attention, the woman with the silver eyes. She had yet to master her power, but that ability of her's would be very troublesome to our mission so I ordered the Seer to kill her, the male will no doubt bleed to death from his wounds. I rested my head on one hand as I watched. Humans are pointless creatures, fragile and weak, and only useful when they can be manipulated. Suddenly a loud roar I didn't recognize made the Seer stop in its tracks. The vision looked over to the male who no longer looked human. The man had (Aura Color) horns on his head, his eyes were a deep red, his teeth were sharp and jagged, and his aura scorched the very ground he stood on. He was struggling against the spikes the Queen Lancer had fired at him, but couldn't pull them out. I shook my head.

Me: 'Even with such an interesting semblance, you won't be able-'

Suddenly he let off another roar, this time it held pain in the tone. I looked back to the Seer only to notice the male digging his fingers into the flesh around his shoulder.

Me: 'He wouldn't...'

He suddenly ripped into his own skin creating a large gash, then grabbed onto his arm just below the gash and began to pull away from his own arm. In mere moments he ripped away from the wall, while leaving his severed arm still pinned. He roared at the Seer and it instantly started to float back up the canyon. Even the Queen Lancer quickly went airborne and began to move. I ordered the two to stand and kill the male... but they didn't listen. The male suddenly lunged forward at great speed and slammed the Seer into the canyon wall. The last image I was able to see was the Seer being slammed into the wall repeatedly, and the look of a feral beast on the male's face.

Me: 'I've never seen my Grimm run from anything besides the Silver Eyed Warriors... could he be something close? No... no that look in his eye is closer to Grimm rather then human.'

In my thoughts I failed to notice Cinder walking into the meeting room.

Cinder: "You're grace...?"

I looked over to her, still in my own thought.

Me: "Yes Cinder?"

Cinder: "I apologize for intruding but I think Ozpin has found us."

Me: "I am very aware of this Cinder. And in fact, I need you to take care of it. But be warned, run away, or fail and I will make sure you understand what happens when my allies fail me."

Cinder: "O-Of course you're grace."

Me: "Take a Seer with you, but keep it at a distance. The intruder seems to have an odd effect on Grimm."

Cinder nodded and exited the room.

Me: 'Who knows... if he survives I can see if I can't persuade him to join our cause.'

[(Y/N)'s POV]

I roared as my aura burned the open flesh of where my right arm used to be. Summer was safe, thats all that mattered. But I can't calm down, my semblance wouldn't deactivate. I'll have to wait for Summer to wake up to help me. Instinctively I raised my left hand and grabbed an arrow that was headed right for my head. I slowly looked in the direction the arrow flew and snarled at the woman standing a good way down the canyon path. The woman had short black hair and amber eyes, she wore a red dress. A look of fear spread across her face as she quickly readied another arrow and fired. I snapped the arrow I had in my hand in half then dodged the next arrow, then sprinted for her. I roared as I lunged at her and threw a punch, which she dodged by jumping back. Her bow suddenly turned into dual swords and she lunged at me. I dodged her strike and went to sweep her legs, only for her to jump over my leg and back up. She was scared, I could tell by her movements. I pressed my attack and went to kick her side with my left leg, only for her to catch it under her arm. I saw my aura burning, but it didn't seem to phase her. She suddenly brought her other sword down onto my leg, severing it. I fell back and screamed in pain. My aura already began burning the wound as much as possible but I was already losing a tremendous amount of blood. I saw the woman look down at me, a mixture of fear and confusion on her face. I was still snarling and trying to get up but simply couldn't.

???: "What... are you?"

Her gaze went from me, to behind me where Summer was. The woman began walking towards her, swords still drawn. As she passed me I rolled over and used my remaining arm to reach out towards Summer.

Me: "Lay a hand on her and I swear I'll rip your fucking head off!"

My voice was distorted and pained. I couldn't move anymore, I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore. As I began to fade I spoke one last thing with my remaining strength.

Me: "Summer..."

I felt the urge to cry, for I knew I was unable to save my wife nor myself.
