The Begining to the Impossible

Regulus Black narrowed his eyes as he studied the chessboard before him. His silver eyes scanned the different pieces, analyzing each of his moves. He was determined to beat his significant other of two months, Alex Flouthist, in a chess match.

Across the room, James Potter could be seen beside his wife as they spoke. Her pale fingers ran through his raven hair as she listened intently when he spoke, most likely about Quidditch.

Remus Lupin's amber eyes role as he watched his husband and two other friends compete. It wasn't over a game of cards or anything.

No. Sirius Black, Marlene McKinnon, and Nymphadora Tonks were seeing how could eat 48 pies faster.

Dorcus, who was used to the chaos, was curled up on the couch as she slept.

A smirk grew on Regulus's face as he ordered his rook into position, ready to place his partner in checkmate.

But he never got a chance to.

Before any of them could comprehend what happened, they disappeared.

The sensation of being twisted and warped filled their bodies.

In his last hope of desperation, Regulus's thin hand wrapped around Alex's dark one, dragging them with him.

James Potter woke up in a box.

He did not like said box.

Very funny, Pads, James thought to himself sarcastically.

It wasn't until James saw his wife lying beside him did he remember.

Voldemort.

Voldemort came to his house. He remembered it just like it was yesterday, which to him, it seemed like it was.

Voldemort wanted to kill his son. He urged his wife to run with their son as he took it upon himself to hide his goddaughter.

The twenty-one-year-old man shot up quickly, smacking his head on the lid of his coffin, as he remembered the green light hitting his face.

Beside him, sobs were heard. Lily Potter came to the conclusion faster than he had...and perhaps without a head injury.

"James!" Lily sobbed after they found their way out of the coffin. "Harry! H-He's dead! I couldn't stop h-him!"

James held his wife close as she sobbed. His own hazel eyes filled with tears, realizing he "lost" his son.

Little did they know, Harry Potter had just kissed his girlfriend goodbye before heading off to teach young students.

Little did they know, they weren't the only ones that returned from the dead with no recollection of the past.

***

Minerva McGonagall was no stranger to the odd and peculiar. She taught the Marauders. She saw Nova as her own daughter. She fought in two wars.

But never in her days did she believe she would enter her office to see Sirius Black pointing at James Potter with a deadly expression on his face. She didn't imagine this for two reasons.

One, they were best friends, brothers. There was no way they would hurt each other. There was no way they would betray each other.

Two, they were both dead.

"Sirius, put your wand down," Lily Potter's sharp voice cut Minerva out of her trance.

"How dare you?" Sirius growled savagely.

"Well, I didn't exactly ask for my best mate to be pointing his wand at me like a raving lunatic!" James sassed.

"You should just kill each other and save us all the pain," Severus Snape suggested hopefully. His black eyes pointedly ignored Lily.

"Severus," Minerva warned, keeping her skeptical eyes on the boys in front of her. "Don't antagonize."

"Yeah, Snivs, don't antagonize," James mocked.

Lily smacked the back of his head.

"Dumbles! You won't believe-!" Marlene McKinnon stopped in her tracks as her blue eyes studied the room. Her blonde hair was pulled into a messy bun which was secured by her wand, a trick she had taught Sirius years ago.

"Marlene!" Dorcas reprimanded. "That's not how you entered Professor Dumbledore's office!"

"Damn, Siri!" Marlene whistled. "You got fucking old!"

Minerva opened her mouth to speak once more when she was interrupted by a voice. The voice of a person she once highly respected. A man whom she saw as her friend.

"I was wondering when this would happen," His blue eyes twinkled with amusement.

"Albus-" Minerva was once again interrupted by the green flames roaring to life.

Out stepped a man in jeans and a button-up shirt. His unruly raven hair sprouted in all different directions. His green eyes nearly matched the color of the flames he had emerged from, but they were darker.

"Hey, Minnie!" Harry Potter greeted. He nearly made it to the door before he spun around with his wand pointed at the group. "Who are you?"

"James Potter," the man that mirrored Harry said looking at the boy curiously.

"Right..." Harry rolled his eyes. "And I'm Merlin."

Minerva's eyes were cold and calculating as she studied the group. Her hand was poised centimeters away from her want, ready to attack.

It had been nearly five months since the war ended.

Why are Death Eaters here now? Especially impersonating people that are dead.

Dorcas Meadows was watching to group with curious eyes. However, she did notice Lily's stance. Her hand was on her wand and her feet were angled towards Dorcas ad Marlene.

She didn't trust them.

But why?

They are her best friends. Why is she ready to attack.

(a/n yes, I know Marlene and Dorcas didn't die at the same time. Let's just pretend they did.)

"Harry, that's not your dad," Sirius stated.

"And you're not my godfather, so what's your point?" Harry sassed. His tone was deadly and shook Sirius's core. Not once has he spoke to him like that...except when Harry was convinced Sirius was responsible for his parents' death.

"What do you-?"

The door flew open and Remus Lupin entered with his wand directed at Sirius. His amber eyes were lit with a swirling fire.

"Who the actual bloody hell are you?" he growled.

Nymphadora Tonks's bubblegum pink hair was short, and perfectly in place without looking fake. Her wand was pointed between Lily's eyes.

"Oi! Don't point your wand at her!" James shouted as he moved to stand in front of her. He didn't get far because warning sparks shot from the end of Harry's wand.

"Don't. Move."

Albus Dumbledore, who looked to have been enjoying himself, finally spoke. Or at least he tried to.

A loud popping noise sounded.

"Mister Harry," Kreacher croaked as his bulging eyes shot Regulus Black a skeptical look, almost as if not believing he were there. "Miss Nova had sent me to Grimmauld Place before she left. She had requested me to do some house cleaning. When I got there, I found a Master Regulus imposter and this random lady."

"Where is my daughter?" Remus turned to Kreacher. "I have a rather sharp bone to pick with her."

"She's at practice," the dark-skinned woman that came with Regulus spoke. Unlike the others, Alex actually remembered what happened. They weren't sure why this was.

Everyone turned to them with a look of skeptically.

"What? She's on the Puddlemere United Team!" Alex spoke. "Come on! You guys remember! We watched her tryout! Totally roasted the boys-"

"I haven't a clue what you're on about," Tonks stated.

"That's not even possible!" Lily stated exasperatedly, ignoring the wand pointed at her. "Nova's a mere child!"

"A child thrust into the jaws of the war," Remus grumbled.

"No, Remmy. I mean an actual child," Lily corrected...or so she thought. "She can't even string more than five words together."

"Really?" Harry rolled his eyes again, clearly not entertained by the fact his dead family was standing in front of him. "Then what about her speech to Umbitch? To Potterwatch? To Voldemort?"

"She honestly doesn't shut up," Severus rolled his eyes.

"No one asked," Harry spat.

"Speaking of," Marlene rounded on Harry. "Who the bloody hell are you?"

"Harry Potter." His wand never moved from its position; directly over his father's heart.

A small gasp fell from Lily Potter's pink lips as she clasped a hand to her lips. James Potter looked at his son in shock. Not only was their son alive, but he was an adult. On top of that, he looked ready to kill them, just as Voldemort did.

"That's enough of that," Minnie cut over the group before they could talk again. "Put your wands down while I owl Kingsley-"

"There's no need, Minerva," Dumbledore's portrait spoke. "I know what's happening."

Of course he bloody does, Nova would say with a role of her eyes.

"And pry tell what you're talking about?" Minerva inquired after a lengthy silence.

"Everyone in this room, minus Minerva and Kreacher, died," Dumbledore stated bluntly.

"If that's the case, sir," Remus began. "Nothing can bring back the dead."

"When Harry defeated Voldemort-"

"He WHAT?" Sirius spun around to face the emerald eyed boy, who was scratching the back of his neck.

"An old and ancient spell was reinacted. It was practically unthought of, forgotten if you must. In this spell, it brought back those closest to Harry."

"Then why am I here?" Regulus spoke up bravely, ignoring his brother's curious glance. "I don't know him. I don't know this Nova."

"When we were in Heaven," Alex spoke up quietly, with drawing their hand from Regulus's. In all honesty, the young Black had forgotten he had even been holding their small hand. "We watched over Harry and Nova. We all felt a sense of protectiveness over them. Could that count? I mean, we didn't know him like Nova, Ron, and Hermione do."

"Who ever was in that house in Heaven, watching over Harry Potter, was transported back," Albus nodded. "Meaning, you are technically alive."

In was silent for a moment before the portrait in the far corner spoke up.

"Well aren't you lucky."

"With all do respect," Harry began.

Or no respect at all, Harry knew Nova would add.

"We are just supposed to take your word for it?" Harry paused.

"I don't see any problem testing them under truth serum," Albus stated.

Within the next fifteen minutes, they each too veritiserum. Each tested truthfully. Their identities were confirmed.

Harry couldn't contain the tears of joy as he embraced his tears of joy. As he reunited with Sirius and Remus.

"Not to break up the reunion," Minerva cut in with a soft smile. "But I'll have some house elves prepare you some rooms-"

"No need," Harry shook his head. "They can stay at Potter Manor."

"When can I see Nova?" Sirius asked Harry urgently.

"In about six hours when she gets out of practice," Harry said after checking his watch.

Sirius looked like a kid on Christmas and Remus snorted at his expression.

"But...I don't think Nova will take to kindly to you..." Harry said slowly.

Everyone looked at him.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean you died," Harry justified. "When I 'died' she kissed me once declared she was going to raise Teddy then ignored me for a week. Actually, it was a week and a half."

Tonks perked up at the mention of her son's name. Remus and Sirius were also excited, but they knew Nova wouldn't let anything happen to him.

"What else did you expect, Mr. Potter?" Minnie asked exasperatedly. "You walked to your own death!"

Lily looked at her son with raised brows.

"If we want to be technical," Harry began. "She did too. She made everyone think she was dead."
