Nova Tries Killing The Dead
When Harry said Nova might not take to kindly to the return of her fathers, he was never more right.
In the meantime, the Returners, as they Sirius called them, took the time to catch up...and make ammends.
"Siri," Regulus began quietly as he entered the kitchen with his brother. In the midst of the chaos, they didn't get a chance to speak with each other.
Regulus wanted to have his brother back. He wanted to be able to speak with his brother beyond a simple greeting. To confide in him.
"Reggie," Sirius mocked light heartedly.
"I wanted to apologize-"
Regulus's words caught Sirius off guard. What did he have to apologize for?
"You don't need to."
"I didn't do anything when mother would-"
"It doesn't matter," Sirius said in a pained voice. "I didn't want you in the middle of it to begin with."
Sirius's silver eyes shifted to the Dark Mark displayed on Regulus's forearm.
"I betrayed him, you know?" Regulus state bluntly.
Unsure of what to say, Sirius nodded.
Awkward silence stood between the two brothers. Remus and the others watched from the door with immense interest. As Sirius turned to leave they bolted, running for the living room.
"I'm sorry too," Sirius stopped at the door as he spoke. "I could've saved you too."
As the day dragged on, Alex reacquainted with the group. While the others knew eachother to an extent, Alex was just the muggle Regulus kidnapped. Of course, in Heaven, they were a family.
But now Alex was nothing more than a stranger.
And that hurt them.
They grew up in a homophobic house hold where they were hated upon. Every waking moment they lived in fear.
Eventually, who they were lead to their death.
Yet, with the 'Heaven Crew' as they had called themselves, Alex felt at home.
Now that home was gone.
Temporarily...
"What's Harry like?" Lily Potter asked suddenly, shocking them.
"A dead man," Sirius said dead pan as he glared at a picture of Harry and Nova. The picture was taken in their sixth year. Their backs were against Nyx as the sleeping dragon's were shut. Harry's head was resting upon Nova's shoulder. Much like Nyx, his green eyes were shut. Nova was holding a children's book, but she, much like the other two, were asleep.
"He's-"
"Bloody hell!" Marlene shouted as she rushes to the window. "Is that a dragon?"
"Her name is Nyx," Dorcas answered as she read the paper.
"How'd you know?"
"Says so right here," she shrugged her dark shoulders.
"We don't trust what the paper has to say about Harry and Nova," Remus stated.
"Oh...so she wasn't born June first before being placed in Gryffindor at the age of eleven?" Dorcas challenged.
"We don't trust most of it..." Sirius corrected.
"Right..."
Sirius watched the clock anxiously as the seconds ticked by. He'd been sitting there for the past hour.
The moment the clock struck three, he jumped to his feet. He raced to the door, hoping to see his daughter.
Everyone was excited to see Nova, but their enthusiasm didn't show like Sirius's.
Everyone's eyes widened at the sound of a motorcycle outside.
Outside, a young woman swung her leg off the motorbike. Her caramel hair fell in beach waves around her head. Her gold sunglasses were perched upon her head, holding her hair back. She wore a leather jacket that appeared to be a few sizes too large and a navy blue Puddlemere United Jersey. Her converses hit the ground as she walked towards the front door, adjusting the strap on her shoulder bag.
After the war, Nova had worked with Arthur to repair her father's old motor bike. She left the side car off though.
"Shit! Act natural!" James hissed as she approached the front door, taking a bit of chocolate.
"Oh yeah! Like she won't notice the dead people in her living room!" Regulus scoffed.
"I mean...she is half Sirius," Marlene countered.
"True."
"Shit!" Someone hissed from the hallway. "Fucking damnit!"
"Yeah that's Nova," Remus nodded.
"Damn it, Fredrick!" Nova hissed as she picked up one of the prototype action figurines. "I swear to Merlin you make me wish I let the bloody wall kill you."
"Miss Nova!" Binky greeted as Nova set her quidditch bag off to the side. "You have some visitors."
After the Returners appeared, the house elves were happy to serve them. Kreacher had gotten his Mast Regulus back, and Callie had gotten Master James and Mistress Lily.
"If it's Ron, tell him to go to his room," Nova declared, taking a bit from her chocolate.
"It's not Wheezy."
"If it's the twins tell him not to leave their bloody inventions everywhere. Just because I let them use the basement for experiments foes not mean I want to have them attacking me," Nova kicked off her shoes.
"It's not them either."
"Then who-"
Nova stopped in her tracks as she looked in her living room. The chocolate thar was on its way to her mouth stopped mid motion.
Her honey eyes studied each person before turning to Binky.
"When's my next appointment with Dr. Riley? I do believe my PTSD and grief are getting a bit out of hand."
"'Ello, Lion!" Sirius grinned.
Nova picked up one of the vaces Harry made and threw it at him. It hit his shoulder before falling to the ground, shattering into a million pieces.
"Nova Lily!" Remus reprimanded.
"Oh Merlin...you're real..."
"Of course I'm bloody real!" Sirius stated hotly.
Before he could even finish his sentence, Nova's dark wand was pointing at the group. Her jaw was locked and she glared at them.
"Yeah...She's terrifying," James nodded.
"Who are you?" Nova asked, not lowering her wand.
"James Potter."
"Right...and I'm Voldemort," she scoffed.
"Lion-"
"Don't. Call. Me. That."
"How about we put down our wands-" Remus was cut off by his extremely stubborn daughter.
"I'll be keeping mine." She stated. "Who are you?"
"I'm Lily Potter," the redheaded woman said calmly stepping forward.
"You know, I never believed Death Eaters could stoop so low," Nova gave a humorless laugh. "I believed they had boundaries...some at least."
Greyback's face flashed in her mind.
"We aren't Death Eaters-"
"Technically, Reggie is," Sirius stated. Regulus glared at his older brother. "But that's besides the point."
"You get one more shot." Nova growled. "Who the bloody fucking hell are you?"
"Why are you so terrifying?" Dorcas asked.
Nova's dark gaze drifted towards the woman.
"War isn't a place for children."
"Lion, please put down the wand," Remus pleaded.
"Don't call me that," Nova snarled dangerously. "Only my fathers call me that."
"Nova," Sirius spoke softly with a bit of desperation. "We are-"
"No, you aren't," she growled. "My dads are dead!"
"No we aren't!" Remus corrected. "I am very much alive-"
"You weren't alive we I was crying over your dead body, begging for you to return," she spat harshly.
This was perhaps one of the first times she has shown emotion associated with her fathers' death. The first time she showed the true pain she felt inside. The first time the horror and emptiness she felt in her heart was burning through her eyes.
"Who are you?"
"Remus Lupin," Remus said stubbornly.
"Wrong answer," sparks flew from the end of her wand. It would've struck Remus had Sirius not blocked the spell.
"What the bloody hell, Nova Lily?" Remus cursed.
Nova nearly stunned Alex but Regulus blocked it and shot one at Nova. The war heroine side stepped as if she were simply walking, not dodging a potentially fatal spell.
It wasn't long until a full duel began. It was eight against one.
It wasn't a fair fight.
But not in the way you think.
It wasn't fair for the group of eight.
Nova was furious. They had no right to impersonate her dead family. They had no right to come to her house and mess with her mind. They had no right to come to the place her little brother lived. They had no right.
"Stupefy!" James shouted, pointing his wand at his goddaughter.
The girl in question ducked as the spell sailed over her head, breaking a glass vase.
"Damn it!" Nova swore. "Petunia gave me that vase!"
Someone gave a small grunt as they dodged one of the spells.
"Oh well. It was hideous anyways!"
Sensing his Mistress's discomfort and need for help, Kreacher appeared with his pan in his tiny fist.
Regulus looked relieved for moment.
It faded from his face as the house elf began to attack him.
"Mister doesn't get to hurt Misstress Nova and pretend to be Master Regulus!" Kreacher shouted.
Kreacher was relieved that his Master Regulus had returned an hour ago. Now he was furious. Miss Nova was convinced they were real, and Krevaher believed her. He also knew deep down he would chose Nova over Regulus. He had been gone for years. Nova was here now, and she showed he a different way of life, a better way of life.
A smirk spread across Marlene's face as she disarmed Nova.
Everyone stopped, believing they had won.
But Remus knew better.
You don't disarm Nova.
She let's you disarm her.
Nova raised a single hand and snapped her fingers.
"Well that was fun," she said as all of their wands flew to her hand.
"Holy-!" James swore.
"How'd you-" Lily stammered.
"I didn't nearly beat Voldemort to a pulp for nothing," Nova shrugged. "Now. Who are you?"
Before they could answer Harry walked through the fire place with Teddy sleeping against his chest.
"Oh look you've found them."
