Last Day In Hell aka High School
I walk into Watterson High School with my best friend by my side and a smile on my face.
Just one more day until my birthday.
Just have to survive this and I will be in New York City. Enjoying the Metropolitan Museum of Art, taking a stroll in Central Park, visiting the Empire State Building, eating 'the best _____ in New York', etc.
"So...are you ready for tonight?!" Kath practically squealed into my ear while we were by our lockers.
Every year at Watterson High School they switch our lockers, so we were lucky to have our lockers close to one another in all our years of high school. Last year she was four lockers away from me, but this year our lockers are right next to each other.
I sigh. "I don't know. We haven't been to a party since you broke up with Adam last semester, and I'm not sure if I remember how to act at a party, to be honest," I barely glance at her while saying this.
Adam and Kath were together for almost a year before he decided she was too weird for him. His loss.
Kath was a beautiful blonde with red streaks and silver-gray eyes.
Behind that gorgeous face is an awesome, smart, and caring person. She was the bestest friend I could ever ask for. Even though she gets on my nerves sometimes, I could never stay mad at her.
I met her when they moved in across the street 14 years ago. My parents had invited them over and they immediately got along. When our parents were talking, we just went into my living room and watched The Fairly OddParents. After we finished that, she was begging me to change the channel so we could watch Kim Possible. She wanted to be Kim. Kath also wanted to be Scooby-Doo...and Grim Reaper.
She even had weird tastes as a tiny person. Oh no. I'm using her weird vocabulary now. Why does she affect me so much?
"Don't worry about that. We're going to have fun, introduce you to my cousin-so I don't seem like a loner- and find you a man," Kath says, pointing her slender finger in my face.
I push her finger away. "I don't need a boyfriend, but you do. You haven't dated since Adam, and since you absolutely adored him," I roll my eyes lazily. "You refuse to date anyone since," I say crossing my arms.
"No, no, no! You're not turning all of the attention on me! You!," she said poking me in the stomach. "You've never even had a boyfriend before, so I have priority on the choices we'll make about each other's relationships."
Kath said with such seriousness that I almost laughed. I was used to this side of Kath. She could be telling a joke and be completely serious the entire time. That's how weird she is.
She looked intimidating in her Twenty-One Pilots jacket, Hogwarts' T-shirt, Star Wars leggings, black combat boots with drawn-on lightning bolts, and red-streaked blond hair in a braid Katniss Everdeen like covered with a Yankees cap. She has so much different tastes that I can't tell which one she loves the most.
This is why she isn't popular with her looks. She likes too much things and most people think she's weird and unapproachable. Which made me like her in the first place other than the fact that she reads the same books as I do.
We're both fangirls.
It made her happy when she read Percy Jackson and the Olympians and found out that a main character fit her description. It made her even more happy when she realized I was like the girl version of Percy. We were meant to be best friends.
"HELLO!!! IS ANYONE THERE!!! EARTH TO JACKAL!!!"
"OW! You didn't have to flick me on the head AND pinch me in the arm!" I yelled at her, rubbing my now red arm. She's super strong and sometimes I'm scared for my life whenever we go see scary movies. What makes it worse is that she cuts her nails only every three months.
"Well, what was I supposed to do? You were daydreaming again and weren't listening to me," she said crossing her arms in front of her chest. She told me once she was a C.
I didn't believe her until we went to San Diego and at the beach. At the time she had on a yellow bikini with white stars on it, while I was wearing a one-piece that wasn't too PG. Anyway, this was the part where she danced around me, yelling 'I told you so, I told you!!'. It was super hilarious. Everyone was either giving her disapproving looks or gawking at her chest.
I lifted my hand to see a bruise forming. Oh great. The last time I got a bruise from her was less than two weeks ago when she had tried to stand up in her rollerskates and clung to my arm to prevent herself from falling. She accidentally gave me a bruise that is still yellow now. That bruise was on my left arm while this new one is on my right.
I have matching bruises.
"Still. I have the other one on my left arm from your clumsiness," I glare at her while pouting in protest.
"Baby!" she whines.
"Don't blame me for not being superhuman like you. You handled that book release a few years ago and you were only 13!"
In her defense though, no one comes between us and books. We would probably elbow our favorite teachers just to get in the book store.
"That's not fair! I'm in love with books and you're just jealous of our love!" Kath sticks her tongue at me childishly.
"I'm totally jealous of your love. It makes my heart ache seeing you with anyone else. God save me from my misery!" I said before getting on my knees, bringing my hands together to pray.
By the time I brought my hands together, the bell rang. Since we both had Mr. Devereux for first block, we had to quickly make our way to the far end of the building. Like Mr. Hartnell, Devereux was also strict and expected everyone in their seats -ready- before the tardy bell rings. It's worse for us because our lockers are in the front of the school.
We made it in perfectly. Kath and I had time to spare before the bell rang. Guess we underestimated the time we had left.
I took out my phone. 7:27. Three more minutes until the tardy bell. I sighed and waited for the teacher to arrive.

Ow!
It was lunch time and we were walking to the librarium-aka library- and Kath had just poked me with her purple mechanical pencil. Right in the back of my neck.
"Ouch, KATH!! What is wrong with you today? You seem more sadistic and murderous than usual."
"Aw, thank you! I try," she said this with her hands on her heart and batting her eyelashes before rolling her eyes.
"So...what is wrong?" I ask curiously.
"Maybe it's because I'm a little nervous about you meeting Cameron. Cameron is the cool one in the family," Kath scoffs while using air quotes around the word cool.
"And I'm not? Trust me, I will at least try to be friendly with Cameron. Plus if he's a total douche I'll give you the sign to let you know I'm going to kick where the sun don't shine," I say half joking.
Kath rolled her eyes playfully.
"Like you could even hurt him. I swear it's like he's obsessed with working out. You don't have a chance against him,"
"Seriously, how strong can he be?" I said in disbelief.
"In this corner, full-on fangirl, weighing 107 pounds, 5 feet and 6 1/2 inches of weeabooness is Little Jackal! And in this corner we have misunderstood jock/nerd weighing 135 pounds, 5 feet and 11 inches of muscle is Chupacabra Cammy" Kath said in her best announcer voice.
I shake my head at the sound of my nickname and shove her a little.
"You're a bigger weeaboo than I am, Kath. Don't lie. I saw your hidden Death the Kid body pillow in your closet," I say pointing my finger at her with a smirk
"I-I-but-wha," Kath said blushing and flabbergasted.
Finally Kath focused on her the lightning bolts she drew on her boots. She always reminded me of Karma Akabane from Assassination Classroom when he blushed for the first time.
It was adorable.
