Chapter 9: Part I

Earenniel P.O.V

Location: Beorn's Home

It was the sound of farm animals and Strange buzzing sounds that awoke me. I see a huge bee, Flying past me. That's something you don't see every day. When I stirred I felt a certain warmth against me and I looked down to see that a blanket was placed on top of me.

I don't remember getting cold last night or putting a blanket on top of myself, someone else must have done it.

I stood up and looked around for any sign of the company, seeing that none of them where in the current room. Suddenly I began to here the voices of the company in the other room. They all were Settled at large dining table, While the food was brought to them by who I am assuming is Beorn, our host.

As I sat down at an empty seat Beorn came around the table filling everyone's cup with milk and Fili's cup was next.

"So you are the one they call Oakenshield. Tell me, why is Azog the Defiler hunting you?" Beorn asked. His question was directed to Thorin.

"You know of Azog? How?" Thorin asked.

"My people were the first to live in the mountains before the Orcs came down from the north. The Defiler killed most of my family, but some he enslaved." Beorn said, Expressing his grief.

I then looked towards Beorn's wrists. They showed scarring from tight chains being around them.

"Not for work, you understand, but for sport. Caging skin-changers and torturing them seemed to amuse him." Beorn said.

"There are others like you?" Bilbo asked.

"Once, there were many." Beorn said.

"And now?" Bilbo asked.

"Now, there is only one." Beorn said.

I felt a cold stone settle in my stomach. My heart twisted with sorrow for Beorn, for I knew firsthand how far Azog's cruelty could go. I didn't feel as hungry as I did before, once I began to eat what was on my plate.

"You need to reach the mountain before the last days of autumn?" Beorn asked them.

"Before Durin's Day falls, yes." Gandalf said informing him.

"You are running out of time." Beorn said back.

"Which is why we must go through Mirkwood." Gandalf said.

"Mirkwood?" I asked looking up from my food, hearing the place where my brother resides.

Gandalf gave me a small nod to my question.

"A darkness lies upon that forest. Fell things creep beneath those trees. There is an alliance between the Orcs of Moria and the Necromancer in Dol Guldur. I would not venture there except in great need." Beorn said telling them about the forest.

"We will take the Elven Road. That path is still safe." Gandalf said.

"Safe? The Wood-Elves of Mirkwood are not like their kin. They're less wise and more dangerous. But it matters not." Beorn said as he dismissed Gandalf's plan.

"What do you mean?" Thorin asked curiously.

"These lands are crawling with Orcs. Their numbers are growing, and you are on foot. You will never reach the forest alive." Beorn bluntly informed him.

"We'll take that chance." I said.

Thorin's Eyes followed Beorn as he stood up from the table.

"I don't like dwarves. They're greedy and blind, blind to the lives of those they deem lesser than their own." Beorn said bitterly.

Beorn then picked up a mouse that had been scampering on the table and held it, all the while approaching Thorin who was standing with his arms crossed.

"But Orcs I hate more. What do you need?" Beorn asked the Company.

Earenniel P.O.V

The morning of our departure was finally upon us and true to his word, Beorn provided us with everything we needed to continue our journey. This time we didn't have to walk on foot. There were ponies Provided for The Dwarves and Bilbo and horses for Gandalf and me.

I mounted my horse and held onto the reins.

"Go now, while you have the light. The hunters are not far behind." Beorn said while a howl was heard.

Gandalf was last to Mount his horse. We Traveled far, keeping a fast pace, all while watching for the Orc pack. We reached Mirkwood with no trouble.

I shivered at the sight of Mirkwood, It was so quiet. Upon a glance, it looked nothing like Aearlondell or Imladris. There was no birds singing birds, or any sign of peaceful animal life, living in the forest. Instead, the forest looked dead. They were no ounce of color, just the sun trying to shine through the trees.

"The Elven Gate. Here lies our path through Mirkwood." Gandalf said pointing out what I already knew.

Gandalf dismounted and walked to the edge of the forest, stepping through an ancient archway.

"Here lies our path," he said calling back to us.

"No sign of the orcs. We have luck on our side," Dwalin said as he climbed from his pony.

Gandalf seemed to see something in the distance behind us. I looked to see Beorn in the form of The Bear, Could it be his doing that there Orcs are not following us at the moment?

"Set the ponies loose. Let them return to their master." Gandalf said as the company dismounted their Ponies. I dismounted the horse I was riding and began removing my supplies like the dwarves. I finished first seeing as I bought the least amount of stuff.

'Hurry back to your master, and Thank you for your assistance.' I said to the Horse. She nudged my hand with her head.

"I'll miss you too my friend." I said leaving her to gallop away.

Once she was free I edged closer to the forest standing next Bilbo and Gandalf.

"This forest feels...sick as if a disease lies upon it. Is there no way around?" Bilbo asks.

"Not unless we go two hundred miles north or twice that distance south." Gandalf said walking into the forest, and I soon followed behind him.

Gandalf and I follow a path a few feet further into the shadows I approach a statue the seemed to be devoured by plants. It looks like no one has been taking care of it or anything in this forest for that matter.

"This is Ellerian, your mother." Gandalf said.

"I know, My father showed me an image of what she looked like." I said staring at the statue even closer.

"It looks as if no one in the forest has been to this parts in a long time. How can they just leave it like this?"

"They have their reasons. Many you might come across today, keep your eyes open and alert." Gandalf said.

A whispering voice was heard, It seemed almost Motherly in my ears.

'You've grown so much Earenniel.' The image of an Elleth appears in front of me. though the view isn't of Mirkwood, it was the beautiful sights of Rivendell.

"Who are you?, How are you speaking to me?" I ask a loud.

"She is the Lady Galadriel." Gandalf said.

"Is she speaking to you as well Gandalf." I ask and he gives me a slight nod.

'I am speaking to you, the same way you communicate with horses and sea creatures-" She says and I cut her off finishing her sentence.

'telepathy?' I say and I watch her nod towards me.

'How do you know who I am?' I ask.

'I was present at your birth. your mother and I were friends before her passing. I'm the one who told her to send you away.' Galadriel said.

Images of what I believe are her memories began to flow through my thoughts.

Flashback: Earenniel POV

"She is Beautiful, Isn't she?" A woman questioned to Galadriel while holding a small babe close to her chest. She couldn't help, but stare down at the babe coo eyeing her.

"She is, but she can not stay here." Galadriel said.

"Why? Is she not wanted?" The woman asks.

"Of course she is wanted, But you must send her away." Galadriel says.

"She is far too young, can we wait a few years?" The woman asks as tears brim in her eyes.

"I am sorry, we can not. The longer she stays, the more danger she's in, but fear not, you will see her again." Galadriel said.

"I can protect her."

"you can not protect her from what is to come."

"...But she is my daughter." She says pulling the child in closer.

"She is also Poseidon's daughter, as well. He will protect her till the time comes." Galadriel says.

"Why does she have to be a part of this dangerous Prophecy? it makes no sense to me...This Evil, she is going to bring to our world, why must it be her?"

"I do not know. She is a part if two worlds now."

"This will always be her home." The elleth said placing a kiss upon her daughters head.

A through the door. Bowing upon entrance.

"My Lady Galadriel and Princess Ellerian. He is here." The Elleth said and stepped aside from the entrance.

"*Diola lle*, Haldir." (*thank you*) Galadriel said.

"it's to soon, I have not named her yet."

"Then do so." Galadriel said.

The Elleth stared at her daughter with much thought thinking about what to name her, and when she looked into her daughter's eyes it seemed that a name hit her thoughts.

"Earenniel...Her name is Earenniel."

"A beautiful name, Daughter of the Sea."

End of Flashback.

'She handed you to Haldir and he gave you to your father.'

'That was me? That was my mom?' I asked.

'Yes...She loved you Earenniel and did what she had to do to protect you.'

'Azog mentioned a name to me. is he the evil my mother was talking about.'

'I'm afraid so, but you should not fear him.'

'What is it you saw?'

'I am unable to reveal all that I saw, as giving the answer would make the answer could change what is to happen if you know to much and you must not figure out what it means. It will come when it wants to, and that is how it should stay.' Lady Galadriel finishes she leaves my mind and my vision comes back to the woodland realm.

Earenniel POV

I come out my telepathic communication with Galadriel just in time to see Gandalf inch closer to my mother's statue then quickly yanks off the vines, revealing a painted-on Eye.

"What is it Gandalf?" I ask.

"The High Fells. So be it." Gandalf said heading towards the company.

Nori is just about to finish unsaddling Gandalf's horse when Gandalf emerges from the forest ahead of me.

"Not my horse! I need it!" Gandalf suddenly yelled. I still kinda want to know what the paint I meant on my mother's statue.

"You're not leaving us?" Bilbo asked. worry was clear in his voice.

"I would not do this unless I had to." He caught my eye.

The company stood in uneasy silence as Gandalf and Bilbo talked quietly for a moment. Finally, the wizard strode towards his horse, pausing to look hard at Thorin.

"Earenniel, you must help them get through mirkwood. There is a stream in the woods. Do not touch the water. Cross only by the stone bridge. The very air of the forest is heavy with illusion. It will seek to enter your mind and lead you astray." Gandalf says.

"Lead us astray? What does that mean?" No one answered the bilbo. We all just watched as Gandalf mounted his horse. That's when it began to rain.

"You must stay on the path. Do not leave it. If you do you will never find it again." He said pulling on his horse's reins.

"No matter what may come, stay on the path!" His words echoed behind him as he and his horse galloped away.

"Come on," Thorin ordered. He was the first to march into the trees and the rest of us followed.

"We must reach the mountain before the sun sets on Durin's Day."

"Durin's Day. Let's go!" Dwalin huffed.

We all passed beneath the archway and began our journey though mirkwood.
