Chapter 12:

Earenniel POV

Location: Dungeons

A soft set of footsteps walked towards my cell. I figured it was Tauriel, Legolas left a few hours ago. I guess he couldn't stand listening to Tauriel's and Kili's conversation any longer.

I heard keys jingling with each step she took. If she continued to do that she will wake the dwarves. She opened my cell door and it creaked every inch until she stopped pulling it open.

"You are free to roam the halls, I will show you to your room...A dress will be provided for Mirith Nuin Giliath if you wish to attend." Tauriel says.

"So, Your king changed his mind?" I questioned.

"Yes, and he does not do that often," Tauriel replied.

"Legolas must've put some sense into him." I say.

"Your words, they are unkind. you have been hanging around the dwarves for too long." Tauriel says.

"You are one to talk, You've been talking to Kili for the past few hours," I say.

"Kili." A smile plastered on his lips. "So, that's his name. Kili?" She questioned.

"Yes, and he is single if you are wondering." I say.

     "Single?" She asks.

"Sorry, right? I have been accustomed to different ways of saying it...He's not courting anyone." I say.

     "Oh." Tauriel mumbles.

"He's all yours." I say standing up, Tauriel closed the cell door behind me.

"The king has given you the Royal room next to his chambers." Tauriel said leading the way up the stairs.

"The Dwarves won't be happy when they notice I am gone." I say.

"Don't worry they are not your concern anymore." Tauriel says.

"And back to hating dwarves again...They are my friends and I really do not want them to think that I am betraying them by doing this." I say.

"Why are you doing this?...Why are you agreeing to the king's terms?" Tauriel questions.

"I do not want to be banished again, this is the last home my mother had, I have nothing but her sword, a letter she wrote to me, and her crown."

     "Crown?" She questions.

"Yes, I believe it was made at the time she ruled the woodland realm with Thranduil. Thranduil was wearing a crown similar to it when I saw him last." I say.

" Is Legolas Your brother? I see a slight resemblance." She asks.

"We share the same mother." I answer.

"I see why he released you know, I was told he loved her." Tauriel said.

We came upon a wooden arched door.

"This is your room." She says

     "No guards?" I ask.

"No, there is no need for them to stand by the doors, but they are roaming around close enough to hear any distress." She says.

     "Alright, thank you." I say.

"A bath is prepared for you and I will bring your weapons and satchel up to your room, they must mean a lot to you." Tauriel says.

"You're not so bad, maybe we can be friends." I say.

"I'd like that." Tauriel said leaving the room, the door was left open. I waited a few minutes before I went in search for Thranduil's room. I Found a door next to mine, must be his. I'm not one to sneak around, but I have to know if he has any of Poseidon's pearls that my mother may have left.

First I knocked, and when no answer came I opened the unlocked door. The room was huge, It was meant for the king. I walked straight towards the vanity and I began searching.

"What are you doing in here?" I turned to see Thranduil standing by his door.

"I'm sorry, I was just looking fo-" I begin saying, but he cut me off.

"Looking for what? I let you out of my dungeons and offer you the best room I have and I find you snooping in my room...What's that in your hand?" He asked. I watched his eyes widened as I turned around. I held a in my hands.

"Please, I am sorry for touching her stuff. I just need to know if you still have one of my father's pearls. she might've left them behind." I say.

"Out!" He yells with fury. "You have no right to touch her things." He says.

"I have every right, but tell me. If I asked you for one of my father's Pearls would you have given me one?" I asked.

"No, Because they are not here...now get out." Thranduil says.

"Not here? but you know where they are?" I ask.

"Guards!" Thranduil yells and within seconds two heavily armored guards walk into the room.

"Not the dungeon's, Please?" I pleaded.

"Lock her in the room next to mine, until I figure out what to do with her." Thranduil says.

The guards grabbed me gently as if only to guide me to my room. That gentleness ended when they threw me like a ragdoll into my room. The door closed behind them and a click following footsteps leading away from it. I stood up and walked towards the door to check if it was really locked and when I tried to open it, it wouldn't budge. so, it was definitely locked.

Since I should be here for who knows how long maybe I should take the offer of the bath that Tauriel gave me. I stepped into the wash room and spotted a wooden tub filled with water. The tub wasn't shallow at all. I probably could submerge myself all the way under and that's exactly what I'm gonna do.

Water is the one place I can think, all my worries disappear. I slowly, one foot at a time get in the tube, not caring that I am fully clothed. My head was the last thing to go under and when it did it is just me and the water. I no longer can hear the outside world.

Location: Thranduil's Wine cellar

There were a few elves in the wine cellars, they are stacking and moving barrels. Elros makes his stride down the steps, holding the keys Tauriel handed to him earlier.

None of the elves in the cellar seemed to notice that Bilbo was in that very room with them. He was hidden from their eyes by the one ring. He was eyeing a way to get Earenniel and the rest of the company out of their cells and this kingdom unnoticed. He was staring straight at it.

"We're running out of drinks. These empty barrels should have been sent back to Esgaroth hours ago. The bargeman will be waiting for them." Said Elros, the keeper of keys.

Bilbo noticed the stacked empty barrels hanging above a trapped door. 'That's our escape.' Bilbo thought. Now he just needed the keys for the cells and the right moment.

"Say what you like about our ill-tempered king. He has excellent taste in wine. Come, Elros, try it" An elf said, to Elros as he pulled two cups that were hidden in the shelves.

"Tauriel put the Dwarves in my charge," Elros said, folding his arms.

"They're locked up," The elf said, walking over towards Elros. "And you," he reached out and grabbing Elros's keyring, "have the keys." He said haying them on a hook on a nearby wooden pillar.

"Where can they go?" The elf laughed, Causing Elros to let out a Laugh as well.

"Very well, One drink." Elros said.

"Sure, sure," The eld said as he poured Elros a glass.

Several drinks later, and they were out for the count. Elros couldn't stop laughing and the other wouldn't stop slurring his words. Neither of them noticed when Bilbo took the keys. To the elves it would have looked like the keys were lifted off their hook by themselves.

Now that Bilbo had the keys to the cells, he just needed the right moment to get his friends.

Thranduil POV

Location: Thranduil's chambers

How dare she come in my chamber, disrupting Ellerian's things? They haven't been moved or touched in a thousand years. I have been generous to her the rest of this day and this is how she treats me?

My feet guided me to Ellerian's vanity. Memories coming and going as I stood before it. I remember her sitting on sitting on the vanity chair, smiling, Brushing her hair, Putting on whichever jewelry went best with her dresses.  I sighed in sadness as I picked up Ellerian's Jewelry box, the one Earenniel tried to open earlier. I stopped her before she could open it earlier because I knew when she opened it she would be disappointed.

I unclipped the latch of the jewelry box and pulled it open and I stared down at the empty contents. The only thing left were five indentations of where the Pearls use to be. No one knew that I sold them to the dwarves. I feel so ashamed, I lost yet another thing that belonged to my wife. I was foolish to trust the dwarves with something so precious, so pure.

When the Dwarves of Erebor did not accept my first payment for the necklace and white jewels, I went back a second time, offering the pearls as payment. They took those as well still demanding more payment after that I decided to cancel all ties with the dwarves vowing to never have dealings with them again.

I wish for nothing more than to regain the necklace that is rightfully mine. Just like, what the lonely mountain is to the Dwarves in my dungeon. The White Jewels of Lasgalen are the birthright of my people. The necklace is a memory of my wife and I will go to any lengths to ensure the jewels are returned to me...even if it means war.

I have already dealt with the Orcs that Tortured my wife. I killed every last one of those filthy gundabad orcs, What're a few more dwarves that betrayed me?

A few hours pass and most of the dwarves are now awake oblivious to the fact that Earenniel is no longer in her cell.

"I'll wager the sun's on the rise. It must be near dawn." Bofur says.

"We're never going to reach the mountain, are we?" Ori says, disappointment filling his voice.

"Not stuck in here, you're not!"  Bilbo says suddenly appearing in front of Thorin's cell holding up the ring of keys.

Thorin and the other dwarves jump up in surprise as Balin exclaims.Bilbo says and the Dwarves notice the Familiarity of the person's voice.

"Bilbo." Balin yells in surprise causing the others to arouse in high voices as well.

"Shhh! There are guards nearby!" Bilbo says shushing them to be quiet

Thorin was the first to be let out from his cell by Bilbo. One by one, He then proceeds to let all the dwarves out of our various cells. All the dwarves were accounted for, the only person that was a part of the company and wasn't here was Earenniel.

"Where is Earenniel?" Bilbo asks in a low whisper.

"let's get moving there is no time to waste." Thorin says.

     "But what about Earenniel?"

"She is with her people, let it stay that way." Thorin says. "Bilbo, lead us out of here." Thorin finishes.

"Down here. Follow me." Bilbo said leading them to his escape route.
